View Full Version : Anyone think the future in "Once Upon a Time Machine" a possible one?

In the future, Shredder is finally defeated and the turtles are loved by the world. In the red sky seasons, Shredder is trapped in Dimension X. We could assume that was how Shredder was defeated, it never stated he was killed by the turtles. Maybe some time after the final episode, the citizens started liking the turtles again.

I took it as a future for the way things were at that point such as the faults of the turtles that Splinter pointed out becoming true. "The future is what you make it" as Doc Brown said. So that was the way things were to happen. Its just like that in "Carter:The Enforcer". If things continued as it were that would have have been the future, but it was not. I would like to think Shredder and Krang got out of Dimension X not long after "Divide And Conquer". Who is not to say Shredder picked up a microbot and rebuilt the Technodrome? If Dregg did the very nexy episode than Dregg did the Shredder/rang team could as well.

I think it was totally reasonable, up until the Red Sky seasons came along. Barring those, it seems pretty right. Though the boys would be in better physical shape.

Probably very likely, the turtles could probably tweak a bit what shape they're in when that time comes around; of course, with all criminals banished/locked-up/redeemed and none left to fight, they've no motive to use their skills for anything anymore, and no reason to hide either since society's excepted and praised them, so it's still likely retirement and easy street for them.

I don't see why not.

Probably one of many possible future, as the Archie Comics used to describe the polluted future Earth.

This future though is the "good ending", as even though the Turtles show typical elderly characteristics, they are a popular landmark for tourists, though many buildings suggest a Googie Architecture Revival, which isn't as practical as the current architectual movements suggest, though it could always make a comeback which makes it possible. Video screen Technology inside of cars is already upon us and will be commonplace by 2036, though a lot of people we need to learn how to fly in order to have flying cars possible. It would seem though that April loves antiques (which is reasonable given being an antique store owner in different universes), so the Channel 6 News Van and camera could be a tribute to a bygone era of reporting. The laser that Shredder uses to fire at landmarks could be around as a top secret defense system. The city is shown to be nearly spotless, and while there will always be some grit around, the real New York is cleaner today than it was in 1991. All in all, there will be some things that the episode predicted correctly, but there will also be mistakes, just like in any other work that predicts the future.

It should be possible if the red sky turned sunny and blue again sometime between 2015 and 2036.

There definitely wouldn't be a World Trade Center like there was in 1991.

In the TMNT world perhaps the 9/11 attacks never happened.

The show was over for long in 2001, so it just didn't deal with it.

Despite the elderly Turtles' appearance, I always liked the future we saw it in that episode. Nowadays it's so easy to look at the worst-case scenario!

It's probably more based on 1950's and 60's depictions of the 21st century. But after all, the 1987 show is much based on 1950's and 60 science fiction movies.

Nice. 1950's and 60's always talked abot flying cars and Moon holidays, but couldn't predict the arrival of Internet. The general interest for spaceflight, however, has instead halted up, compared to the 1950's and 60.
