which ones didja get?!?!?!
azure turtle
04-25-2002, 09:29 PM
Umm... #3-16, but the auction didn't have #15 or #1. I have #2, so I almost have all of the first 16 issues.
Machias Banshee
04-25-2002, 09:33 PM
cool. You got any of the special miniseries types?
azure turtle
04-25-2002, 09:47 PM
Not yet. I'm working on it, though. Hopefully, I'll have plenty of comics by summer time
Machias Banshee
04-25-2002, 09:50 PM
cool....Yeah, if you ever get the chance, get the blindsight series as well as the five or six issues before it, its really good...
azure turtle
04-25-2002, 10:03 PM
I've heard of Blindsight...man, it's a daunting task to collect all of these comics (not to mention an expensive one), but I hope to complete my collection! I've only started, so I've got a long road ahead..

I loved the Archie series so much. That series just got better and better with each issue. I loved it when they were travelling through the world, doing intergalactic wrestling, time travelling, space travelling... inter dimensional traveling using giant cow heads... *sai* Those were the days...
*cough*
Anyway, I'm off to get the new comic tonight after work. It's an hours bus journey to Liverpool so it's gonna be a race against time to get there before the store closes..
Keep your finger crossed for me...?
Loolaa ^_^

Oh, I know whatcha mean, Loolaa! The Archies do get better with each issue. And I love the way Ken Mitchroney draws the TMNT. It's awesome!
Good luck getting the newest comic, Loolaa!

Ahhh, the Archies....My favorite of the verses. They finally made Splinter tall! I love the way theyre drawn as well, they look so hot. :goofygri:

Erm....I hope the new issue is just as good as the archies! *cringes in fear*
I was always ofraid of the Archie serie. Archie just has a tendency to screw things up. The Image series rocked though! that was pretty hard core. I got the comic just now, and I'm about to go read it.
Machias Banshee
04-26-2002, 11:56 AM
Archie was a lot better than Image in my own opinion. Image just mangled and pretty much tried to kill them all off...Archie Never did anything too cruel to them, other than all the stuff poor Michaelangelo went through...
Loolaa
04-26-2002, 02:12 PM
Eeek! That Tatsu 'ngh' scares me! I hope you're not frowning and looking menacing too... :0
Okay.. back on topic.. I got my comic! Yippee!! And it's great... of course... but I won't go into detail for those of you who haven't got it yet....
*attempts to restrain herself*
...must tell....but can't...
*runs off*
Loolaa
It was good, but personally I like the first two better.

Wooh, congrats, Loolaa! I hope to find my issue tomorrow. I don't know if any of you have heard of this, but the Festival of Books is being held at UCLA tomorrow and Sunday, with lots of authors (400, to be exact), celebrities, and special appearances by bands and the mayor of LA himself. It's gonna be fun!! I already know where the comics booth is, so I've created a plan of attack for tomorrow morning...I hope they have TMNT #3 in stock!! And from the summaries I've read about both the Image and Archies series, I think I like Archies better...
Loolaa
04-27-2002, 02:40 AM
I like the new 3rd issue better than the 1st issue... but I didn't get the second :'( so I don't know about that...
And I agree the Archies were better than Image. I got all the Image issues but I wasn't very fond of them... as my pic on HT's site demonstrates!

Heh heh...I like that pic, Loolaa!
Ooh, I just got issue #3 at the Festival of Books! Kevin Eastman was slated to do signings, but he didn't show up due to a parking problem (damn!!), but a lady working at the booth told me he'd do signings tomorrow. I'm definitely going back there tomorrow! This may be my only chance of meeting him.... btw, my letter got published in issue #3.
Loolaa
04-28-2002, 02:05 AM
Congrats on getting issue 3... and WOW how lucky are you if you get to see Kevin today!??!
*eyes Azure jealously*
Heheh only kidding, I really hope you get to meet him... and get stuff signed... and pics and... everything...
I've got my fingers crossed for ya..
..now how do I make my breakfast with my fingers like this...?

Man, i hope i can get an issue. I really want to know what happens...
azure turtle
04-28-2002, 01:50 PM
LOL!! Well, you don't have to be jealous any more, Loolaa. Kevin Eastman couldn't make it today, either. *sigh* And I had my heart set on meeting one half of the TMNT creators. Oh well, maybe next year.
Oy Machias! Issue 3 is so awesome...you need to get your hands on it! So much plot is explained, yet there's a cliff hanger at the end. I'm getting all antsy wondering what's gonna happen next.
I need to e-mail Dan and ask if they're still taking snail mail orders, since they didn't update the comic books page this week.
azure turtle
04-28-2002, 02:03 PM
I was gonna ask Dan the same thing. I wanted to buy a second copy (since my letter was printed and all...), but the booth at the festival sold out! I don't see it as a bad thing, though...it's just proof that the TMNT are still going strong
Machias Banshee
04-28-2002, 02:11 PM
what happens? I wanna know even if its a spoiler!!!

Uh uh...I'm not telling. Patience, child...the comic will be worth it if you don't know what happens first.
Make a new topic with a spoiler warning if you do. But I wanna hear it too.

I can't believe you both want to know about what happens...okay, I'll consider making a new spoiler thread...
Machias Banshee
04-28-2002, 02:27 PM
Thanke you! *hugs Azure* I know i'm not gonna be able to get it no matter how i try, so that's why i want to find out from everyone what happens...
Loolaa
04-29-2002, 12:45 AM
Sorry you didn't get to meet Kevin, Azure. Hopefully you will one day!
Awwwwww.. Machias how come you can't get issue 3?!

Ya...I hope to meet him someday! Maybe if I can go to the comic con in San Diego...maybe.
*sigh*
HorseTechie
04-29-2002, 10:53 AM
heheh.. oh yeah, I think Machias would love how the comic opens... and then an insight on one of SPlinter's pastimes.
*very subtle spoiler hints*
Then they aired Armaggedon on TV this weekend, and a trailer for a new movie that also reminded me of this comic.
But Azure.. dude! You missed Kevin by a hair? Wow... but it was still great news to hear fo the event you went to, that enabled ya to get the comic. O course, Kevin will say it's really Laird's comic.
I accidentally had an Image #1 in the handful of comics I had kevin sign last year. He made a crass comment wondering why that was included in the stack, but signed it anyway. :goofygri:

Ya, it's too bad he canceled...I was worried about what I could have him sign, since all I had with me were those Image comics, the new Mirage comics, and some Archies. I had nothing that he worked on. I was hoping he could just sign one of those cardboard slips and maybe even sketch a turtle. Ah well. Maybe I'll run into him later on in life
HorseTechie
04-29-2002, 01:09 PM
Oh yeah, Kevin would definately do a comic-card backing sketch, if nothing else!
Maybe if all goes well, you could go to the SanD con too!

I wish they held cons in the Eastern US... *pout* I'd love to see the guys from my hometown...
azure turtle
04-29-2002, 03:52 PM
Ooh, he would?! I'd love to get a sketch from him! That'd be so awesome...
And Machias, I believe there's supposed to be a big con in Detroit, but I don't know too much about it. I think HT's got the rundown on it, though.
Saisei
04-29-2002, 04:28 PM
Anyone know of any big events anywhere around Atlanta? It kinda bites that all the major cons are across the country from my place...
azure turtle
04-29-2002, 04:39 PM
Atlanta? Hmm...I don't know. Sorry Saisei, but I don't know too much about all of the comic cons  Did you try searching on Google? You might find something there.
BTW, I just want to let everyone know that Mirage is accepting snail mail orders for issue #3. Dan hasn't updated the comic books section, but he has updated the "Buy Stuff" section. Click on that link, and you'll be able to find issue #3, just waiting to be purchased. Hope that helps

Hrmm.. there's a website that lists all the cons in the area. The east coast and the midwest has cons too. It's just that the San D ones attracts all the big names. It's like a hit and miss thig with the smaller ones. *sai*
The Detorit Motor City is held in may 17-20. But what's got me upset, is that Indianapolis is for once having a big Star Wars convention while I'm gone!
azure turtle
04-29-2002, 06:53 PM
Star Wars con? And you won't be there to attend? Bummer. But hey, you're going to Korea. Not too many people get that kind of opportunity

~Yay! Everybodies here! ~
Yay! I finally put out my order for the third book. Shouldn't be too long before I get my hands on it.

*happy dance*
That's awesome news, Kali!
Okay, I FINALLY got the issue! But hey, it was really worth the wait. Lots of stuff going on, as many of you know. *squeal* I wanna know what's gonna happen. And I wanna see who leads the Foot now, and what the Utroms are really doing on Earth.
azure turtle
05-15-2002, 03:06 PM
Woah, you just received it now? I guess Mirage has gotten really busy ever since the new comic started, and with the news of the cartoon, I think they'll just get busier. I'm glad you got it, Kali! Now you may relish in its goodness
"And I wanna see who leads the Foot now, and what the Utroms are really doing on Earth."
The foot? WTF? They werent in there...
azure turtle
05-15-2002, 03:16 PM
I think Kali's referring to one of the letters at the end of the comic. Peter Laird has said that the Foot Clan will be returning...and I think it's going to be in the next issue, but I'm not sure.
Uh, yeah, I was referring to what was going to happen in the next issue. Peter said the Foot would be returning.
And the reason I just got it today, was because the site didn't update the comic page that week, remember? Scanner troubles. So I waited a week, then finally e-mailed Dan to see if they were indeed still taking orders. It took just over two weeks to get here from when I sent my check, pretty good time, actually.
azure turtle
05-15-2002, 04:19 PM
Oh, okay. I thought you ordered shortly after you posted a few weeks ago. My bad. Mirage does take an average of two weeks to get comics in your mailbox, but when I ordered TMNT #1, in came in about a week. I was pretty amazed at that.
