I am collecting all these new figures MOC.

has anyone had a hard time finding them in really nice shape. 99% of the ones I find are beat up and creased. Wondering if I am just having bad luck.

Yes, almost every one I've seen has had what looked like circular punch holes (not all the way through), corners bent, creases at the top, and more. Other than the C9+ 4 Turtles I ordered from BBTS, I haven't found any that I would buy for being practically mint.

I do not collect MOC but if I were you what I would do talk to the store employees and see if you can pull figures straight out of the box. This might take some coordination, like waiting for a specific day/time that they put them out on shelves, or days they get new shipments, etc.

Good luck.

Usually toy collectors will have a particular store where they will be good friends with the management. This allows you great insider info on this kind of stuff.

I visited local stores 4 times before I saw any I was willing to buy. Just gotta keep checking back. They aren't going anywhere so take your time and you will find the diamonds in the rough.

I got mine in Toys R Us when they were brand spankin' new, and they were all in pretty damn good shape. Granted, I opened 'em up...

All figures I've seen come straight from the box have been horrible looking. I've seen about 4 cases from different stores opened, and all have mostly bad condition figures.

Yes they are coming out of the boxes from the company damaged. I guess its just going to take some searching.

The few I found took me 5 different stores and going through all the stuff on the shelves.

Also where did you find C9 ones on BBTS?

It took me about 10 stores/waves before I found ones I was happy enough with to buy

I've also been having a really hard time finding ones I am satisfied with. The corners are almost always smashed or creased. I even had two sets shipped, still in retail shipping boxes, from Amazon and both were beat up. There are several reasons already that I wasn't going to buy this complete series of figures, but the frustrations with damaged packaging makes it likely that I won't buy many at all.

Looking at the figures I purchased at WalMart, they all look like they are in pretty good shape, as it seems that the employees stock pretty carefully and there aren't too many people messing around. Figures that would make the AFA Silver level are good enough for me, as its difficult to maintain gold status even when held gently. Leonardo is about an 80 with a minor crease on the lower right, Michelangelo is around an 80 with some slight wear on a couple corners, Splinter is about an 80 with a slight ding on the lower right, April is around an 80 with some minor corner wear on the bottom, Donatello is around an 85 with a very minor crease on the lower right, and Raphael, The Foot Soldier, Kraang, and Shredder are about an 85 with sharp corners and a couple of very minor creases. The packaging though is very good to excellent on all of my figures, and I'm glad I've purchased these all for around $70, as a complete set on eBay are currently selling for $93 including shipping. It all matters being at the right place at the right time.

I went to TRU yesterday and all of their Ninja Turtles figures were messed up, dents, rips, bends. At Walmart the figures are in way better shape; I bought all four turtles about a week ago, and they are all in really good condition. I would recommend Walmart as your first stop for Ninja Turtles.

For me it was April O'Neil. I have a gut feeling out of series one of the basic line, she is going to be worth a lot of money. Call it a hunch. Especially if Playmates decide to make a 12 inch fashion doll, as they originally intended for the original figure series. My local Toys "R" Us had very few April O' Neil figures, and I was lucky enough to find one where the blister card was in good condition. All of the other packages had major dents, tears and even looked like someone was trying to open it.

Off topic, I have the same trouble with anything Diamond Select releases, especially their Universal Studio Movie Monster line. Every time I look to buy one (as I intend to keep them MOC), the blister cards have dents and tears. Especially on the bottom left hand side of the packaging.

Found a ton of mint ones fresh from cases and even hanging on the pegs. Any I've bought I've opened though, so those minty nice ones go into the trash, lol.

I'm one of those employees and they look like that right out of the box haha. The boxes weren't destroyed or anything. It had to of happened before being shipped to the store.

I've been looking since they were released. Of the 4 turtles I've on found a Raph and Leo that were acceptable. But now they've changed the cards slightly. The bottom right hand corner is rounded now in the newer waves. So I feel like I have to start all over and find the four turtles on matching cards. Crazy right?

Finding the cards in good condition is one thing, but I'm having a Hell of a time finding figures with good paint apps. There are a lot of poorly painted, sloppy-looking figures in the stores. It's almost offensive.

What's up Playmates?
