View Full Version : Do you play with your toys?
I collect loose, because I like to play with the toys I buy. I guess deep down I'm still the little boy that loves the turtles.
Anybody else actually play with their figures?

Loose collector here too. For my favorite toys, I sometimes buy one for display and one for play.

That's what toys are for.
Glad to see I'm not alone in this.:tgrin:

I'll pose 'em before they hit the shelf, but that's it. No play-time for me.

I pose and display. Playing with them does nothing for me.

Not really. I play around with my Classics posing them in different positions, seeing what is possible with their articulation, trying to get them to balance on one leg while kicking, etc.
But, I don't really sit down and have "fights" between them like I did as a kid. Then again, IF Playmates make a second series of Classics with Shredder or some other villains (or if I can score a Giant Android Body Krang off Ebay for a decent price), then maybe I will start "playing" with them.

I still play with action figures. Usually when I play with action figures I am making a video with them. I then edit the video, adding music and sound effects, and post it to YouTube. Here's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video I made, that one of my friends has on their channel:

I'm 31 and yes I play with them, but only when it's quality time with my 4 year old. :) We also play a lot of Batman with the Imaginext Batcave and Joker house. I like to do Batman in the Adam West voice which sounds remarkably like a bad William Shatner impression. My boy finds it hysterical even though he really has no idea lol.

This question could easily belong in the general discussion Toys & Collectibles section if we're talking about non-TMNT. I still like to play with my Brio train set, especially around Christmas, though lots of my toys are stored away in the basement. What constitutes a "toy" is a lot more vague than its ever been, since video games were originally just toys before they became a distinct form of entertainment, and I still play those occassionally, especially stuff from the 4, 8, and 16-bit eras. If I play with my toys, I'd prefer shooting a Youtube video to make it worthwhile before I can get more casual about it, though I'd only play with duplicates before selling, since I don't want to damage my figures for the sake of value.
I find a lot of joy in opening the toy, then the initial pose and set up. On a rare occasion I will quietly plot out a battle. Nothing wrong with it, no different than screaming at a TV as your favorite sport team plays a game.
Reading that last paragraph alone sounds...odd. Just sayin.:tlol:

Cool i also make video's when i play with my action figures.
I still play with my old OT Series toys. Especially with my 6-year-old son. He's been getting the Nick series of toys and we have both had fun with those as well.
I bought some for myself. Some I open and pose, others I keep in the box.
