I figure he could in 4kids. Maybe even in IDW. I'm sure there are others out there who know better about it, but that's my two cents.

All of them....save maybe Mirage.

Not that there isn't some degree of speculation involved, but I'd say only these four:
Fred-Wolf
Adventures (?)
4Kids (by the largest degree)
IDW (?)
The jury's still out on Nick Splinter. We haven't seen him do anything yet.

You're probably right there....though NM Splinter seemed pretty formidable.

Dooney's Mirage "Challenges" graphic novel has Splinter holding his own against his sons.

Why is this even being asked?
Splinter beats the Turtles in EVERY incarnation.

That's only because he's dead in Mirage. Duh.

That's what I always figured. Just because we don't see him do it, doesn't mean he can't.

Ironic post is ironic.

Splinter beats the Turtles in EVERY incarnation.
Except in Mirage and the movies, in which he's a more believably frail old man (mutant?) who has his sons fight for him.
You can count Splinter's fights in Mirage on one hand. And the "Challenges" bit aside, none of them demonstrate anything the Turtles can't do. He's a great teacher, but it's kind of silly if he's also four Turtles in one.

In the older Mirage books, yes. But in Tales of the TMNT written by newer writers he's shown as being a far more capable fighter.
Probably the difference between Splinter written in the 80's and Splinter written in 2000's..

wasn't there a dream sequence in the comics where Splinter was killed by one of his sons and it was revealed to be one of his greatest fears?

Sounds like Volume 2.

Splinter's health in Mirage was very wiffywaffy in issue 1 he was old and frail so he had to make his sons avenge the death of Hamato Yoshi and Tang Shen. Later he rejuvenates and seems younger... and then he dies.
I think all incarnations of Splinter can take out the turtles all at once in a fighting match, but some versions might lose steam after first round

While I admit he becomes a lot more spritely than issue #1's "I'm going to die soon, so avenge my master for me" Splinter, I still don't remember him being very active or doing anything the Turtles can't do.
I can only remember three times he dirties his hands in Tales: when he fights a Foot mystic in the astral plane, when he decapitates those speed-boosted ninjas (which, okay, but maybe he just went all out and got lucky), and when he and Casey go after the Shredder Shark, but he doesn't do much fighting there.

Especially Enter the Rat King (under brainwash). Love that episode when he kicks their butt.

So the frail old Splinter from the first movie can take out all 4 turtles at once?

maybe, at least maybe hold his ground for a short while.

I think the point of Splinter using the Turtles as his "instruments", if you will, was because he was old and lacked the endurance necessary to carry out his life's mission. Splinter, in any incarnation, can kick the Turtles' asses. He just couldn't do it seven days a week. Maybe three. Four, at best.

to be honest, the only adaption where i actually had the feeling that splinter could woop ass on the turtles any day of the week would be idw. that issue where splinter beat the piss out of the foot was great. it really showed a side and ability of him that we pretty much never see.
the other versions are all good, but they leave me with the feeling that he ONCE was great and is now just a mentor/father/master.

The new nick Splinter looks like he could take on any of the four turtles. Haven't seen him in action yet, just judging by his size and youth alone. Thus far seems Raph is the strongest of the brothers, (physically) and that pressure point Splinter used on him at the beginning of episode one looked pretty ninja. Kind of reminded me of something Masaki Hatsumi would do to one of his students. Like how he got a little laugh out of that too, showing his slightly twisted shinobi humor. :ohwell:

I would think that being a master, that Splinter could whip the Turtles' a**es if he really wanted to demonstrate his power. The exception would be the movie Splinter as he didn't really do any fighting, though 2K7 Splinter probably could still teach his sons a thing or two. I hope we see Nick Splinter fight.

The simple answer is: all of the above. I believe in the '03 cartoon and Mirage Comics towards the end of the runs they could have held thier own against him,but never outright beat thier sensi even in a team effort.
