Hey everyone!
What do you think? With the new series growing in popularity, and sales going well, would Konami be wise to re-release all the old NES TMNT games on a gameboy advance game cartridge? Sega did one called Smashpack which contains 3 classic genesis titles, so its been done before. Three games on one cartridge I think would be cool, after buying the new Gameboy Advance SP I can't wait to get some TMNT gaming going! Opinions? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Maybe if they would release the aracde version of TMNT and TMNT 2: Turtles in time and Maybe Manhattan project with updated graphics. I could see that happening since Mirage owns the rights to old cartoon characters.

I back up Karpo, if they could re-touch the graphics of the original levels from the NES Arcade game to match the REAL arcade game, then also re touched Manhatten Project, I'd buy a copy

And me, that would be a great idea. It could work.

I just beat Ninja Turtles 3: the Manhatten Project last night. 11 years and that game has yet to lose its charm.

Problem is, would kids acquainted with the ne series have any idea who Krang was? I don't know if they'd get the story line. Not it would matter. The games are great anyway.

Karpo_007
05-27-2003, 07:45 AM
Well the story is not in exactly big part of those games, it's the gameplay.

GK Punk

The karpster hit it on the nose, I said it in another thread, but I know several non-TMNT fans that still play and love the old games, not because of the affiliation but because they are quality games with solid play value.

If Kids these days Saw Krang, I don't think it would matter to them.

DrSpengler
05-27-2003, 04:59 PM
Yeah, I know. The games are tight as hell. I just think it would leave kids wondering why the heck the Foot Soldiers are robots, what's a "Technodrome", how come Baxer Stockman is White and how come there are so many weirdo mutants.

But yeah, I doubt it would be too much of a detractor. Once they get into how fun the games are the story won't mean a thing.

They could just explain all that in the manual, or change the intro so it makes more sense. A lot of remakes change the plot a little so it makes more sense. I remember the GBC Crystalis remake explained the plot elements better.
But yeah, a remake of the NES games would be great. Or better yet, maybe a TMNT compilation on the GC, PS2, and X-Box, just like Sonic Mega Collection for the GC. Include NES TMNT 1-3, SNES 4 and Tourny Fighters, Hyperstone Heist, and perhaps the GB games.
Maybe this time, have the arcade versions of the first and second arcade games as unlockable extras.

I just think it's funny that there are kids who know the TMNT but not Krang. Me and my friends back in the day would have thrown many an object at kids who didn't know who Krang was.

Even if its just the old games I think it would be cool, and a inexpensive way to get some good TMNT games on the market fast.

Nintendo is doing the same thing with their Supe Mario advance series. IF Konami would want to do it, I doubt Mirage would object.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Porting the old games would be awsome!

Since 4kids has heavy ties with both Nintendo and Konami (Pokemon, Kirby, YGO). They could work out a deal for an exclusive TMNT compilation for the Gamecube (I guess it could be on Xbox as well if it has to be, but NOT PS2). The game would feature 4 player action and would include. TMNT: The Arcade Game, TMNT: The Manhattan Project, TMNT: Turtles in Time, and TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist. All with the superior arcade graphics and remastered sound. The game would include the original TMNT intro and sound track. The would be extra modes and unlockable content like the VS mode from Turtles in Time, video clips, character images, etc. (ala Sonic Mega Collection). As a bonus you could download the NES version of TMNT II (and possibly TMNT III) for on the go play on the Gameboy Advance. As for a name I would call it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Heroes on a Half Shell. As a big bonus you might even be able to unlock all 3 original Gameboy games to play on the big screen with color graphics!

I wouldn't leave GBA out to dry either. I'd port over either the original arcade or the arcade version of Turtles in Time and call it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Advance. The game would feature four player action as well as 2 player VS ala Turtles in Time. It would also have a little bit of unlockable content.

They could just redo graphics and have the New Shredder The Black Baxter, the Black Foot Ninjas and the new April. Than they could have a option to switch between the old cartoon and new cartoon graphics.

If you guys REALLY want them, send e-mails to Konami's costomer support and mention to them with the new show how well these would sell... also be sure to include how cheap it is to port existing games on to a new system ;).

yeah and that would give them a good reason to release the old toon

I think if they ported any of them, it would be Turtles in Time. Most of the games that have been ported so far have been SNES games. The only NES ports have been the NES Mario games and Kirby's Adventure (now called Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland). And since I don't think we could get more than one TMNT port, I would definately choose Turtles in Time. I love that game!

Karpo_007

They could port the arcade version, there has been quite a few arcade conversions on GBA already.

I have pondered this possibility before. In fact, I think Wizard Mag mentioned it once as well.

Seems everyone forgot about Tournament Fighters...

I think I said this before, but it is possible to play many of these games using various emulators on Dreamcast, Xbox, and Gameboy Advance.

That would be awesome! But I would hope they would base it off the SNES version more than the arcade one, which wasn't half as good.
I would also like to see the original arcade game on GBA! That would rock!!!

Just one question: how would they change the sprites for the ENEMIES that were also only in the NES version? They would have to change the levels themselves, considering that the NES version only supported one kind of enemy on the screen at a time...

Practicality spoils the fun once again.... :(

I don't remember the NEs game that well, I do know the number of enemies was very limited, but that could be true too.

Yes, one KIND, not just one enemy...

Also only 3 enemies were able to be on the screen at once too. I'm guessing it's been so long since you played it last that you don't have a clue. Trust me, I know that game like the back of my hand.

Ninja Tiptup
06-24-2003, 03:32 PM
Now way man. There are plenty of different foot soldiers on the screen at one time in some areas. In general though, they did keep only one kind of enemy at a time.

Karpo_007
06-24-2003, 03:59 PM
Nes versions biggest problem is not the graphics, it's just technically to limited. But since there 2 more maps there is a reason to play it.

Ok, I'm talking about the NES version, not the original arcade version. I suggest playing it once again..

I know that in the actual arcade game there could many kinds of enemies on the screen at once, but NOT in the NES version. It was ALWAYS either one kind of Foot Soldier or ALWAYS one kind of an ememy; you never have a situation where face Foot Soldiers and Mousers on the screen simultaneously, for example, in the NES version.

Let me make loud and clear:

I AM TALKING ABOUT THE NES VERSION, NOT THE ARCADE VERSION

Do I have to post screenshots for proof?

Ninja Tiptup

I bet they could pry squeeze all the NES, and at least the SNES or Genesis TMNT game on one cart. After all, one of those things supposedly has the same memory as an N64 cart. Not sure how much it actually is though.

Gah, I hated the first game. In 12 years I still haven't come CLOSE to beating it. And I never will. Do you know how disheartening it was to be an 8-year old TMNT fan and not be able to get halfway through the game? It's like... it's like something that's SO bad I can't even describe it to you, because THAT'S HOW BAD.

I'm gonna go cry now. Thanks for opening up old wounds. :(

The Turtle Van stage was next to impossible. There was one jump that was extremely difficult to make without a Turbo controller. And even if you did make the jump, getting the rope to work so you could cross the rooftops was iffy at best.

Actually that game had a combonation of original toon and Mirage with a tiny bit of Konami's original work thrown in.

I think the first game would work well for an updated verison with character changes. They'd need to change a few things, but most they could keep in. Replace Bebop and Rocksteady with the purple dragons and Hun and that pretty much covers it other than updated character designs for just about everything. And no doubt... some cut scenes to explain things.

Jephael
07-22-2003, 10:28 PM
the only problem with that is it's still entirely based on the old show where Splinter was originally Hamato Yoshi, and at the end of the game Splinter is changed back into Hamato Yoshi via the retro-mutagen ray generator.

Albrecht

then why is he still a rat in the rest of the games.

Jephael
07-23-2003, 10:14 AM
Hmm, that's a good question. Guess there was a hole in the plotline there since they kept him as a rat in the cartoon show. They obviously wanted to keep Splinter in his mutated form, that way they could make his former human self figuatively dead.

If I could only have one, It'd definitely be the arcade game. That's the first one I ever played, and still the best. I also wouldn't mind Turtles in Time combined with Tournament Fighters for GBA or the consoles. They could have Tournament Fighters as a seperate mode for 1 or 2 player fights (and maybe add some of the new characters like a foot tech ninja or hun.)

I don't. Why you ask? Because Sega doesn't have a console and other than that and a few one shot console Nintendo console have been the only systems which had TMNT games on them. Thus they should only be on GBA and/or in compilation form on the GCN. It's kind of a legacy thing. Unfortunately... I know people don't care about that so PS2 would get it for sure and likely Xbox and I guess if PS2 gets it then it's good to be fair and put it on all three. But I really do believe it should only be on GBA and or Gamecube. It would certainly be a great selling point for the poor system that doesn't get much attention from many of the third parties and it would probably get more attention as an exclusive but I guess we wouldn't know until something like that came out.

Karpo_007
08-29-2003, 05:31 AM
Because of GC's bad sale numbers, we probably won't see many exclusive 3rd party games on the system.
