God damn, are they unnerving.

Your thoughts?

I've seen creepier.

Unnecessary thread.
I disagree. I've been keeping this bottled up for a long time. It's the worst thing since Jim Lawson gave Splinter creepy people feet in "City at War."

Imagine Splinter touching your face with those creepy people hands.

It would be like...being touched by a person.

Are you doing a bit like when you were classic whatever? I can't tell anymore.

I don't know... real rats have pinkish light colored hands... They were going for a more realistic rat look this time, and real rat hands are the same color as the rest of their fur.

Are you doing a bit like when you were classic whatever? I can't tell anymore.Well, I mean, yeah, this is more or less a joke thread.

But, legitimately, while I get that they're just flesh-colored rat hands, that design element has always weirded me out IRL. Mostly because animals with people hands hit just the wrong kind of uncanny.

Bleh, I can't stand them. I love everything about this new Splinter design except those hands. I know they're 'ratlike' if you turn your head and squint, but they're so different from the rest of his overall look that's it's so jarring every time I see them. Definitely not my preference.

I don't even notice them to be honest. This is as ridiculous as the people complaining about Donatello having a gap in his tooth or the three toes.

To be honest, I didn't noticed before, maybe it's because they don't bother me at all.

But I'm gonna check them out when I see the show again. :teek:

I'm not bothered by it, just like I'm not even bothered by the three toes thing or Don's gap in his tooth. I like Splinter's personality in this show, and for me, that's what counts, not how he looks.

I really haven't noticed his hands...

This thread gave me a "what?" when I first saw the title. I think his head is creepier than is hands. That said, I think it could be that the mutation didn't affect the lower half of the hand. Or it could just be his natural skin tone since there are two different colors of skin on his neck, which I think is the correct idea.

I love Splinter's design. He looks very noble and ratlike. I never noticed his hands--but since he's a humanoid it doesn't disturb me much for him to have human hands.

I kinda like the three toes on the Turtles, too. I could do without Donatello's Gap, though.

people who think Splinter's hands look really weird should do a google image search for "rat paws" since I think they will be surprised what actual rat hands look like....

Wait, why would Splinter be touching my face?

This is getting weird.

his hands are more normal then previous animated Splinters and they aren't human looking just because they are pinkish. Come on, he even have only three fingers and one thumb. Not very human like.

stupid thread is stupid

Yeah, Splinter's hands look just like rat feet. Very realistic.

Those are design changes for the sake of change only - especially the 3 toes thing. Completely unnecessary and does change the look of the turtles quite a bit. Not a deal breaker, but adds no value to their look at all. However, I'll admit that the gap in Donnie's teeth does add value in that it makes him more unique when compared to his brothers. I don't necessarily like it, but I can understand and accept it a lot easier than 3 toes.

Oh yeah. With the three toes you can't even tell that they're the Ninja Turtles.

I was like "What are these creatures? Three toes? What kind of devil work is this?!"

Sigh.

The only reason I noticed Splinter's hands was because they did a major close up of them on the Nick webcomic they had going on awhile back and I was creeped out and wondering where this four fingered hand suddenly came from. Once I realized they belonged to Splinter I couldn't stop looking at them. I doubt if I'd read the comic if I would have even noticed them. I didn't notice the toe change either for the turtles until people mentioned them, but I think that change is totally adorbs so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

The three toes thing is such a small yet big change, I wondered why they bothered - perhaps it was because due to the nature of the 3D design it would make them appear as if they had hooves.

To be honest his hands don't creep me out. It's his feet that are creepy.
