I found this quote interesting:

Nakamura: "Before we even saw the animated series, we went back and read the old comicbooks -- I'm a comic fan. That's obviously a feature in the comics, so we decided to put that in."

They also said it was a lot more serious than the past ones, although i never really noticed too much humor in them other than the "woah, who turned out the lights" when you fell in the sewers.
