View Full Version : So which pizza is it?

I was watching my old VHS copy of the original film earlier tonight and a funny thought dawned on me. Before the movie begins you see that cute Pizza Hut commercial featuring a little league team, which was there since around the time this movie came out Pizza Hut became a sponsor for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However in the movie we clearly see both Danny and Michaelangelo prefer Dominos. Why the sudden change in companies?
Dominoes sponsored the production of the movie. Pizza Hut outbid them later on.

That's still a wise move since both companies are still around today, meaning both get exposure every time this movie is watched. Domino's was bound to get outbid since Domino's is mostly just delivery/take-out while Pizza Hut is a full service pizzeria and was more popular. I doubt it will make Suburban Commando and especially Step Kids more popular again.

I used to eat Pizza Hut, as a kid. Then Papa Johns came to town! That's the good stuff.
I never liked Domino's. Then they changed their recipe in recent years and literally begged America to give them another chance. It's not bad. I still prefer Papa John's, when it comes to pizza chains...

Lil Cleasers is our usual pizza choice, because you can't hardly go wrong with a $5 pizza.
Especially when it's already ready already.

Not to mention the Pizza Hut billboard ads on the side of the building that foot soldiers jump from behnid in the city streets scene of level 2 just before the area where Bebop appears in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:Arcade Game.
Dominos outbid Pizza Hut for sponsorship within the film, but Pizza Hut did everywhere else the possibility for sponsorship arose.

I used to get free pizzas for reading books, I remember the delivery guy walking in with Batman t-shirts (one of my earliest memories), and I have a VHS tape of the first episode of the 90's X-Men cartoon that I got from them.

Pizza Hut is OK every once in a while. It's a little bit better than Domino's, but places are kind of generic if you ask me. I would lop Papa John's slightly above them, but in the same category.

theres this chain of places in san antonio called papa murphy's where they make the pizza to your specifications but you gotta bake it yourself. evens out because they are HUGE and delicious and hella cheap.
there's also pizza patron where they accept pesos...
deez ninja turtles aint ready for that, lol!

I've tried Papa Murphy's. They were decent.
I used to live by a place called Romeo's Pizza. They were pretty. I like La Rosa's as well, but the one by me is starting to suck. I ordered extra sauce last week. They gave me hardly any at all. Had I actually had the time to do it last week, I would have called in and complained, maybe even get a free pizza or something.
Italian is my favorite, but I've been looking for both a good Italian place and nice non-generic pizza place near where I live now, but we mostly have the quick-fix franchises around us.

Yep, I remember Book-It as well. That was always a treat to go to Pizza Hut on the weekend and use our rewards. Good times.

My teacher was a retard and never acually quized us on the books we read. So I would go to the libary and just fill out the form and place a small comment about the book which was the narative from the back of the book and turn it in... lets say I got a free pizza everyday and would cash them in on the weekends or sell them for a dollar to other kids lol!

I got so many free pizzas with Book-It. I read lots of books anyway. Getting free pizza was just the icing on the cake.

Ray's Pizza, I believe, which was actually an authentic pizzaria back then. It's under new management.

There's a Dominos close to home, it's open until 3am all week. Their pizzas taste nice but the prices are a bit steep. Something like £7 for a small 4 sliced pizza, free delivery though.

Aww, I remember Book-it! So exciting to get that free little tiny pizza! ^-^
I was a Domino's delivery driver for 5 years, so I do feel a special connection with that chain. Though honestly, Pizza Hut's food is way better. ;)
