View Full Version : TMNT is the best thing to happen to Nickelodeon since 90's SNICK

It's been a long time since I've seen something to come from Nickelodeon that reminds me of how awesome that network's programming is since awesome shows like All That, are you afraid of the dark?, Kenan and kel, etc have gone off the air. Although this is an all new show I get a sense of nostalgia from it, a kind of excitement from a nick show that I thought was long gone since becoming an adult.
I, like most 80's born 90's kids hold a special place in their hearts for the "ninja turtles" and I'm proud of how this series is turning out as if it were really an extension of me.

While I agree somewhat with your statement, as I loved SNICK, there have been a lot of great shows on Nick recently. Drake and Josh, Avatar the Last Airbender is just amazing....Korra....to name a few :) I like Danny Phantom, too, it's cute.

Lies.
Spongebob, Drake & Josh, iCarly. Get off the nostalgia kick.
As a 26 year old man I can say the latter two never appealed to me. Spongebob airing originally in 1999 while I was still in 8th grade I will agree was good but would probably not have appealed to me otherwise as the newer episodes cannot hold my attention.
This thread is a nod to nostalgia, so hopping off it would be counter productive, bromundo

But to say that Ninja Turtles is the best thing to happen to Nick since the 90s is ridiculous especially when you just brush off other shows. Also, now Spongebob doesn't count because later episodes suck? Buh?
Avatar was and is a huge hit. Victorious is doing some great things.

But yeah, I was all into that stuff. I was all onboard through The Amanda Show, and I started growing out of it during Drake & Josh. But it's still what it is. I don't think Dan Schneider got worse, we just grew up.

They've ruined Nick by pretty much keeping it afloat when Spongebob's popularity died down?
How about watching iCarly or Victorious before dismissing them as dumb 'tween' shows. They're no different from Kenan and Kel or Clarissa explains it all.

Wow. So you're one of THOSE people. Newsflash, the SNICK lineup was Tween before that was even a term! I still say that iCarly is a better show then half of the original nick stuff.(People think of Hey Dude fondly? Are you serious?)
Also it's Bieber and 'As long as you love me' is an awesome song. Word.
Nostalgia is such an awful thing. Prevents people from giving new things a chance. Case in point, this thread.

-shrug- maybe so but I was a little kid in the 90's if the same shows were on now I'd probaly dislike them like I do the curent tween shows... but a lot of the tween shows are just so samey and vanilla... same for Disney the shows are popular yes but they are also rubbish...

seems to be a question of demographics.
the crap thats on the air today is made to appeal to the same age group that the crap from back then was made for. im sure people who grew up watching the crap from the early 80's hated the snick type stuff from the 90's.
That said, *ahem* if you're older than like 20, 21and without kids and you're defending all these tween shows (notice i gave a 9 year leeway...) and saying they're great, well written entertainment, then...
:P
to each their own i guess... i mean, im 29 tomorrow and i spend a lot of time on a tmnt forum...
TMNT is going for a younger demographic than your despised "tween shows", people. Think twice where you are before calling someone out for liking ICarly or Victorious.

Well I have watched these tween shows by accident and that are not anything worth writing home about. You're correct my tastes have changed but watching old episode of kenan and kel online is far more refreshing than icarly or drake and Josh. those shows are unfunny. And yes I am aware that they have the same creator but it doesnt make these new shows good. The Amanda show sucked.

Wow. Really? I like Victorious quite a bit, though I do think the kid with the puppet can be creepy at times. I don't watch it all the time, but I catch it when I can or when I remember it's on. iCarly isn't my cup of tea, but if people like it as well as Spongebob, then so be it. There's nothing wrong with that. To each their own.

I remember being so excited Saturday evening before SNICK to the point that when I saw the clock at 6 PM Eastern, I knew it was coming, plus there were some great shows along the way. But the live action shows today on Nick tend to be based more off of stars than the '90s shows did. I prefer classic Nick reruns along with non-Nick sitcoms, but its great to see my #1 network growing up to be looking upward!
i only remember how AWESOME IT WAS.

That's not a fact at all. That's pretty much the definition of subjective.
Also his whole argument is "You shouldn't like the show if you're over X years of age" had nothing to do with OPINIONS on the qualities of said shows.

iCarly is amazing... I thought it was bull and then I realized I was watching it with my sister and that it was actually good. I'll demonstrate it this way I once had five guys all over the age of twenty in my living room and we sat and watched the iDate a Bad Boy episode of iCarly by choice.
I loved Snick but I am big enough to admit that iCarly, Big Time Rush, Victorious, and whatever Fourth Show (Bucket and Skinner/How to Rock?) that show on Saturday Nights are this generations Snick and I look forward to them waging the same war with each other in 2022 when they think iCarly was way better than "Three Toms" Nickelodeon's hit new show about three teenagers named Tom getting into various hijinks as they try to get their band off the ground whilst braving the perils of High School

Completely agree with this being the best thing to happen since '90s Snick. It's nice to look forward with anticipation for a Turtles series once again. I tuned in to watch the 2003 run here and there, but I'm really loving this new show. I just think it's a perfect blend of laughs and depth. Very excited.
Had to run out and grab the new Playmates figures when I noticed them, along with the Shellraiser. So stoked that not only is the show looking great, but the toy line is fantastic to boot.

Truthfully unless you have a younger sister, there is no real reason to watch tween sitcoms with underage girls.
There are already enough "real" teen sitcoms airing on WB and Fox if you want to sit through them.
Or better yet watch, "New Girl" or "Two Broke girls" if you want comedies with female leads.

It's not about watching a show with girls as the leads. I watch shows that I find entertaining. That's about it. Also....you keep on mentioning this underage thing. They're all like 30 nowadays and even then who gives a sh*t?
Again, you can apply this logic to the TMNT show. Unless you have a little brother there's really no reason to watch stupid action cartoons made to sell toys.

Most of this board is basically for nostalgia, but as far as nostalgia goes, seems some people love it while others hate it. Either way seems fine. I'm will say I'm in agreement with the older shows being better than the new ones and I have watched iCarly and the Drake and Josh. Just couldn't get into them. As opposed to TMNT which is built on being a toy pushing money making machine that kids'll hopefully beg to have once they've gotten a taste. The shows are peas in a pod man.
But I get it. It's another one of those typical "I don't like it so everyone who does is wrong" things.
