Corey has revealed he is in talks to take part in the upcoming Ninja Turtles film. I wonder if he will play Raphael this time around.:P Lets see what happens. In the meantime post your thoughts.

I liked him as Donatello. A lot.

But I also hate Corey Feldman now.

Get someone better.

I think the reason he is being considered is he was the first to speak in favor of Bay's concept before Kevin jumped on board. Though he is not confirmed he opened speculation that is. I personally don't care either way if he voice a character or not. I am more interested in the plot at this point.

Nothing in that article implies that either, 1) He is even in consideration for a voice role whatsoever, 2) Has been approached for any voice role whatsoever, or 3) Is going to be approached for any voice role whatsoever in the future.

He knows Bay from the past and sound like he asked him about the movie. That's all.

Oh yes, because a pudgy 41 year-old member of the "Where are they now?" file should totally be a Foot Ninja.

I'm with FearlessLeader on this one. I really really want some cameos of actors from the live action films, but I'm not too keen on anything much deeper than that. The only exception for me would be Elias Koteas, who I'd love to see return in full capacity, maybe as a police chief or something.

I'm with Fearless,Powder, and others that are for the cameo easter eggs. It would make it fun especially for older fans like us.

I remember a throwaway 30 second bit in. SoTO which a man recognized April from tv and unlocked the door for her because her hands were full of groceries and his wife seemed to disapprove. Something like that which was unneccessary could have been a cameo. Why not have Hoag and Turco be joggers passing by April discussing rumors of the TMNT?

I'm sorry, did I slip into some alternate universe where everyone didn't love Corey Feldman as Donatello? He's the one guy I always hoped would come back.

Bob
11-24-2012, 09:32 AM
No, sorry. No offence to him, but I always thought his voice was completely wrong not just for Donatello, but for any of the Turtles.

They won't get him. They'll probably either go for established "names" for the Turtles, or professional voice actors. Getting Corey Feldman back isn't really a top priority. Let's face it, he's no Peter Cullen.

Nope. For me it's Robbie Rist's Mikey. Brian Tochi's Leo is also awesome.

As my friend Jo Dawn is fond of saying, "Donnie doesn't 'nuck nuck.'"

MikeandRaph87
11-24-2012, 12:28 PM
Who would have thought Cosuin Oliver could pulls off something with competence?:P

My favorite of the four films is Secret of the Ooze. Oddly enough while I immediately separated the films and '87 cartoon with two different Splinter takes and the lack of The Technodorme gang it took me the longest time to realize Adam Carl was voicing him instead of Corey Feldman. The voice of '80 child star Feldman made no difference.

Instead of returning to roles of one of the four turtles something like Nolan North voicing another character that is not a turtle or Jim Cummings voicing secondary characters once more. If not cameos like mentioned above.

As a kid, Donatello was the only voice actor I did notice change. I find Feldman's Donatello very distinctive - among all the Donatellos.

Jester

To be fair, Leo and Mike didn't change and Raph...well....Raph's easy to mimic.

i'm in the feldman is awesome as don camp, here. dunno if it would be worth having him reprise his role (which it doesn't even seem like something thats likely to happen), or not, but considering this movie seems to be going down the path of silly as opposed to serious, it wouldn't be the end of the world for him to cameo.

Gyt Kaliba
11-24-2012, 04:07 PM
I used to like Feldman's Donatello when I was a kid, but now...hmm...it's hard for me to say. It is distinctive, and honestly, I chalk it off more to his characterization not being too Donnie-like in that first movie. If Feldman had had to play a Donatello more like the second film's take, maybe I'd like him more in the role now.

And seconding the Robbie Rist mention, he's probably still my favorite Mikey actually, even with Cipes kicking butt.

I'm kind of on the fence. I thought Feldman did a fairly good job as Donatello, and I'd love to see him reprise the role. Though what I think the writers need to do this time around is keep him in character and not just have him act like an intelligent Michaelangelo.

super good point! his performace was great, given the characterization of donnie in the first flick. granted, i grew up with that performance and character, so i didnt mind that it wasn't a forced showcase of the genius turtle. like someone else mentioned here, somewhere...i like that hes a grease-monkey and not an astrophysicist. thats more grounded in the type of reality the first movie was going for, imo.

I can go either way.. I did actually like him as Don... but I didn't mind him not being Don in II.. but I do think he gave Don a different kind of personality that helped him stand out a little more.

What's with the Corey Feldman hate?

I love Corey Feldman and I've been very displeased with the way he's been treated for the past 15 years. The guy has a lot of talent that is NOT being used properly.

I would love having him return as the voice of Donatello or any of the Turtles. He had the perfect TMNT voice if you ask me. His voice naturally sounds very Mutant Turtle-ish.

And of course, I want 50 year old Elias Koteas with a wig playing Casey Jones. I ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!

I like the sound of Corey Feldman's Don. It was an interesting vioce for the character.

I think its cool to take a character. You take a character thats suppose to be a brainiac, and not have him sound like a stereotypical nerd. Yet keep him smart. I like that sort of thing sometimes. Throw the people a curve ball every now and then.

But I don't really mind if Corey Feldman doesn't do Don's voice again. I'm up for new interpretations I say.

Andrew NDB

I think it'd have made a lot more sense for Feldman to voice Don in Turtles Part 4 than Part 5. Part 4, it was actually kind of supposed to be a continuance of Parts 1-3. Part 5 seems set to be some kind of a strange quasi-Fred Wolf reboot, so it might be weird to have carry-overs from the previous movie-verse.

I don't think 2 or 4 suffered without Feldman.
I would love to have him involved, just like I would love to see a bunch of people from Ernie Reyes Jr. to Vanilla Ice somehow show up. Although I understand completely if with a reboot, the producers would want to do something completely new and different.

Either way, I just hope they do something entertaining. That's all they have to do in the end to please the audience.

Actually, IDW seems to be more of a mix of Fred Wolf, Mirage, and Archie alltogether, though it seems to be increasingly be looking FWish as time goes on.

As for Corey Feldman, no problem since its his voice that does a Turtle, and either Don, Raph, or Mikey could suit him. It can generate good buzz about a returning cast member, much like it does elsewhere. All I care for is a good movie regardless of what universe its influenced by.

God, how this logic bothers me. "We can't hire this guy to be in a mainstream movie because this guy isn't in a mainstream movie".
It's hogwash. People said the same thing about Jackie Earle Haley for years until someone decided to let him do his job on the big screen.

And Feldman isn't fat. He's never been fat. You might be thinking about the late Corey Haim who had nothing to do with TMNT.

Before 2006, the majority would disagree with you or not even know who that was.

Given the right role, Feldman could surprise the world. I'm not saying Feldman is the best actor in the world. But you can barely judge his acting chops with the work he currently gets.

Spitfire

Uh...we must have completely different opinions on acting then, because I think he did amazing in both films. I had low hopes for anyone but Englund playing Freddy, but Haley knocked it out of the park, and actually made the character "scary" again - a feat that I think Englund could have done obviously, but I fear there would still have been some tainting in people's minds from some of the goofy crap in the original series.

Spitfire
11-29-2012, 03:09 PM
Freddy was never really "scary" to begin with. He always had a sense of humor about what he did which made him more interesting and a lot more sadistic. Haley made the character boring and generic. He brought nothing to the role and he has almost no presence. Lifeless.

Opinions though. Honestly mine have changed quite a bit over the past few years. The more I study acting and deconstruct movies the more my opinions change. I used to like Christian Bale's Batman now I think he gives the weakest performance in the series. People have different standards when watching films. We all pay attention to different things.

I'd prefer either a professional VA, or a lesser known actor be the voice of the turtles. I want them to be them, not An Actor Playing Them...if that makes any sense.

Though...I suppose it could be argued that Feldman is now a Lesser Known Actor.

I dunno, I do agree that Freddy was never particularly scary to me, but there's definitely a big difference between Freddy in the original film, versus say...'Freddy's Dead' where he kills someone with a Nintendo Powerglove. And they still had a little bit of the humor in the new Freddy, just toned it back from the point where it was corny.

But you're right, it all comes down to what you're looking for in a movie really, and your own opinion. I can't profess to having studied acting or films in any way, so you're more qualified than I to make a professional statement at least.

Anyway, on the topic of Feldman again, I do think that overall I'd prefer to see a new Donatello voice rather than him returning.

I'm pretty sure Freddy terrified more than a few kids -- like me -- in his earliest outings.

And granted, I haven't seen the Nightmare remake (AKA: Nightmare on Elm Street: The Completely Unnecessary and Unwanted Remake) with Jackie but I'm pretty sure if his take on Freddy resonated with audiences the same way Englund's did... we'd be watching Nightmare on Elm Street Remake: The Sequel by now. Or it'd at least be in some degree of pre-production at least. It's not.

On the flip side, I really loved the Friday the 13th "remake" (which actually functions pretty well as a stealth sequel to the existing films). Pity they're in no hurry to do more. I loved the hell out of Freddy vs. Jason too and I was certain that would be leading to solid new installments of each franchise.

Don't worry I'm not about to have an inflated ego over my education. If and when I'm ever successful with it then maybe I could claim some kind of "know it all" status but that's not really my style. I'm well aware not everyone views the same thing the same way and bad acting to one is fine or great to another. Same with music and pretty much everything else in a film.

Raphael's 4kids voice was clearly inspired by the movie voices. Hell, the Next Mutation Raph voice was inspired by the movie incarnations.

4kids Donatello sounds very similar to "Secret of the Ooze" Donatello.

Movie Leonardo always sounded somewhat similar to Cam Clarke's Leo I suppose, with the 4kids one having a bit more of an older or more mature sounding voice, but same thing.

I admit Mike's voice is the most distinct compared to each incarnation, but they always keep that "dude" or "surfer" accent to him to various degrees.

I honestly wasn't fond of his portrayal of Donatello in the movies (the writing for him was horrid.. yes, I'm on the Mikey-lite bandwagon), so I dread any known characters getting voiced by him, but I suppose we'll see if this is the case.
