[B]Key:
Amazon frequently has these sets for 10, 20 or even up to 30% off at times, so check the links often for good deals!
"Hard to Find" sets are available only in LEGO retail stores, shop.lego.com and usually 1 other location, which is noted above next to each set. They are not generally available elsewhere without a price markup, so plan accordingly. This info is for NA only and may not be accurate for EU customers. They are not RARE, just exclusive to certain retailers.
Figure Variants: Examine each set carefully! There are different face and body print variations on each character which vary based on the set. Just because two sets both have Raphael doesn't mean they are the exact same figure, for example.

So which sets are you getting :P I will be getting them all... I am both a LEGO fan (have lots of star wars, lord of the rings, super hero sets!) as well as, obviously, TMNT

If you buy every set, you will get duplicates of some of the figures, such as the turtles... however... this is not necessarily bad, because you can notice in the screenshots that, for example, donatello in the Shredder's Dragon Bike set and donatello in the Baxter Robot Rampage set have different expressions as well as different weapons (in the first he has his standard bo, in the other he has the bladed one)

So there are some advantages to getting the variants

If you bought every set you'd have two of every turtle... each with two different expressions... except for raph, of which you'd have 3 minifigures (2 having the same expression)

Oh, and technically you'd have two shredders... though one is actually the training doll :p

Anyone else agree that the LEGO Kraang brain minifigure looks better than the Playmates one? :p Probably way better build quality too

I don't know why, but the Lego Kraang (brain) looks more accurate to it's TV counterpart then then the Playmates action figure.

I like how the Lego Shredder resembles the 1984 Mirage comic book Shredder.

For those who wanted April to be connected with Baxter Stockman in the 2012 series, well this is it, since you have save her in the Baxter Robot Rampage set :tlol:

and ditto, I'm excited about these as well.

I for one will for sure be getting them all... I LOVE LEGO and I LOVE TMNT!!! I hope they plan on expanding on the TMNT theme, they will have endless possibilities with that license!!!

I will say that I wish the actual sets themselves were a little bit better, but as far as the mini figure go, they are absolutely epic!!! I can't wait to start seeing them in the stores!!!

Based on the Prices I could see myself eventually getting them all. But for a start the Shredder Bike and the Stealth Cycle are going to be my must haves. Gets me all the minifigs I definitely want.

LEGO has updated the listings for all 6 sets to a revised release date of December 17th, 2012.

You can order them on shop.lego.com then. Hard to say when they will be listed on amazon and other sites. I recently bought some of the new Hobbit sets on amazon about a week before they showed up on shop.lego.com but it doesn't always work that way (for example: the new Galaxy Squad LEGO theme is for sale on shop.lego.com now but not on amazon)

I have updated the OP with some more details.

You wont be able to the figures unopened, they are packaged in pieces with the rest of the sets, usually in different bags. Your best bet would be to try and find the figures on bricklink.com, alot of people will buy sets for the pieces or minifigs and then part them out that way...

This street date move is excellent as it will not only capture the last-minute holiday shopping, but also prove to be a good strategy as I heard on the radio this morning that traditional, non-electronic toys including LEGO will be nice sellers this year. Having a two-week break off from work over the holidays may tempt me into buying a playset or two, especially right after Christmas. The Shellraiser not only is the most impressive but also the lowest unit price in terms of pieces per dollar which is my first choice.

Sure thing, I usually buy all my LEGO from Fred Meyer, just because you can usually get that extra 10% Home coupon, plus they don't markup the prices.

Pretty much any store is cheaper than Toys R Us at least at this time. Refer to the first post for regular retail prices and then compare them to Toys R Us prices. Even after a 15% or even the $25 off $100 they have going on now the legos are still more expensive then normal retail price.

Thank you for the pictures, spiderpumpkin!

OMG they want $17.99 for that tiny Kraang set!? They gotta be out of their MINDS. That set is 12.99 and it's already expensive for what you get at that price.

I will wait... I refuse to pay TRU prices. Do not give TRU your business when they do this, we can't let pricegouging like this pass. a 10% markup I would accept but this is outrageous.

If anyone buys them let's see more pics :D :D :D

By the way... The Baxter set is not 100% TRU exclusive, you can still get it inside LEGO retail stores or off lego.com, don't forget. The downside being you have to wait for them to receive stock later this month. TRU always gets stuff early.

Had I been the one taking these pics I miiiight have caved and bought the Baxter set, just to make it easier/faster to get. The $5 markup on it isn't that horrible, but on the Kraang set? EEeeep. Wait for amazon or just get them off lego.com

Went to toys r us today, they had the kraang set, the shredder bike set, and the turtle van escape shenanigans. I was gonna get the two smaller ones if they would price match lego.com but unfortunately they wouldn't. Toy's R Us "price match guarantee" is pretty useless. They told me I'd need a paper ad. Seriously? To be fair I did get them to price match walmart without them even being able to find the price for basic figures back when they were 7.77 so... I guess you win some you lose some. (Also, my toysrus had these sets marked up even more then what you guys are saying.)

TRU generally marks up LEGO prices by 10-20%, I used to work there and even with my discount, it was cheaper to buy them at Target, Wal-Mart or Fred Meyer... The only time it is good to buy from TRU is when they are running a BOGO 50% off sale, and even then, you need to be choosey to make sure you are getting the best deal. As bad as I want these sets, I can wait until they come out in the other chains of stores.

If you live near a Fred Meyer, mostly located in the Northwest, they generally have a 10% off coupon weekly... I actually picked up most of the Hobbit sets last week and got 30% off of them due to FM having a one day 30% off LEGO coupon... I wish they had they TMNT in stock...

For reference here is the markups toysrus.com is advertising based on the MSRP prices straight from lego (rounded up to nearest percent):

79100 Kraang Lab Escape - 90 pieces, $12.99 TRU price: 17.99 (39% higher)
79101 Shredder's Dragon Bike - 198 pieces, $24.99 TRU price 34.99 (40% higher)
79102 Stealth Shell Persuit - 162 pieces, $19.99 TRU price: $27.99 (40% higher)
79103 Turtle Lair Attack - 488 pieces, $49.99 TRU does not seem to carry this
79104 The Shellraiser Street Chase - 620 pieces, $59.99 TRU price: 79.99 (34% higher)
79105 Baxter Robot Rampage (Hard to Find) - 397 pieces, $39.99 TRU price 34.99 (12% higher)

If you can get a good discount via coupons or promotions, more power to you, for everyone else, for every set other than the Baxter set it is probably worth waiting it out unless you are impatient :)

Do you think we'll get Lego figs of Leatherhead and Metalhead?
I don't know how they could resist leatherhead... if you have paid attention to LEGO these past few years they have been doing a lot of "supersize" figures

LEGO Wampa from Star Wars Ep V (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Wampa)
LEGO Cave Troll from LotR (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Cave_troll)
LEGO Goblin King from the new Hobbit movie (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Orc_King)
LEGO Rancor from SW Ep VI coming later this year (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Rancor)
and my personal favorite... LEGO Hulk! (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/The_Hulk)

They could do Leatherhead as one of these larger figures and he would look GREAT. Having one of these large figures in a set really adds value both for fans, collectors and those that just like to see new parts. I really hope they do one.

Metalhead should be very easy! And yes, I hope they make him.

Are these prices from the TRU website, because I've only ever seen the Stealth Shell Pursuit at 22.99 and the Shredder Bike at 27.99, both of which felt fairly reasonable at a $3 markup.

Those are the website prices, I have not checked in store but a picture posted earlier in this thread confirms that the prices are accurate in-store, depending on the store, I'm sure they set the prices per-store based on many factors.

If I found each set at only $3 mark-up i'd probably pick them up on-the-spot. a $3 increase is reasonable, though it is still pushing it for the $12.99 set.

According to an associate at the Mall Of America Lego store, the reason Toys R Us prices are higher is because they need to recoup the cost of the penalty they will have to incur from Lego by breaching their contract and offering these before the official release date. He stated that this is very common for Toys R Us to do, and for that reason they must always sell enough to make it worthwhile since they keep doing it.

Yeah that's what I figured I would have checked myself but the TRU website is blocked on my work computer. I was surprised to see the higher prices I went a bit crazy when I saw they were out and went Tri-State (Mass, RI, and Connecticut) and those were the prices I saw and as you said at only a $3 mark-up picked up the ones I wanted on-the-spot.

Couldn't find any Kraang lab escapes or Baxter's though

The basic $12.99 set was priced at $19.99 at my local toys R Us today! I didn't even bother to see how hard they were trying to screw people on the bigger sets.

An almost 50% mark-up!?!? NO THANKS! I don't want to be a Toys R Us kid.

That falls in line with what I've heard but that sure is a wacky business decision. Sure a few early adopters may not mind paying such a high markup for the sets but over the course of the lifetime of a set, that markup must cut into sales.

My favorite strategy is to add the sets to my amazon wish list and then watch it very closely, checking several times per day. Not only can you reguarly get sets for 20%, 30% or sometimes more discounted, if you are willing to purchase sets with damaged boxes (usually dents or tears, nothing that damages the contents) you can get sets substantially discounts that way as well.

I loved LEGOs when I was a kid so I do want to get something from this line. My main priority however is just to get a Raphael, Shredder, and a Leatherhead (if they make one) minifigure. I don't really care about the LEGO build that comes with the minifigures. I guess I'll just wait and see how I can go about doing that in the future. Great to see these though.

This is the way to do it, Amazon is one of the best places to purchase Lego's... They are always having discounts on them and if you get them through the Warehouse deals its even better, as long as you don't mind damaged packaging...

I just bought the Baxter Robot Rampage set at my local TRU given it's an exclusive set from the way it sounds here.

It's a pretty good and complicated build. The robot is really cool too once you get it all built and I also find the Donatello in this set has one of the better facial expressions.

Raph, Baxter, and April are all cool minimates to have as well.

I wonder if the flying vehicle Raph uses in this set is from the cartoon, or will be. I know the go-kart thing Donnie drives is one of those vehicles recently shown in the toon...

As a kid I grew up on K'Nex. I loved them dearly, especially the roller coaster I got for Christmas. I worked on it for 12 hours straight to the next day....It was glorious.

I'm only mentioning this because this was my first set of Lego's I've built....

Well done Lego, well done. Had a blast and they look just great. A few shots of mine are below....

There were a few hiccups on Baxter's build. I recommend being careful with the window sticker, mine was slightly misaligned so I pulled it up and the window area pulled all the grime off the Lego and now the window is foggy. Hardly a big deal....but just saying.

Enjoy the shots, if you you want any other views I'll be happy to take a pic.

LEGO TMNT are now on amazon for sale. Well, not Baxter or the Lair. But the other ones.

Simply go on amazon and search for Lego ninja Turtles and you will find them all

Make sure that if you buy them, they are sold and shipped by amazon.com, some third party sellers are selling them MUCH higher.

*edit* Kraang set is now out of stock. Keep checking I'm sure stock will be replenished regularly now.

I'm disappointed in the LEGO Mouser, it doesn't look like them at all to me. I wish they'd done something more custom like they did with fishface and dogpound.

A lot of LEGO figures come with printing on both sides of the head so they have some range of expression, just turn the head to which side you prefer.

Why is the Baxter set so rare?

It is very common for LEGO to do at least 1 set that is 'hard to find' for each wave of each license. The Baxter set is great and I plan on tracking it down, or order it off lego.com, we'll see :)

It's not even hard to find... if you go to Toys R Us you should find it. Or again, as I've said several times, just order it off shop.lego.com, they have free shipping promotions now and then so that makes it easier.

LEGO should release a TMNT minifigure collector pack with all the minifigures. That way, we wouldn't have to buy sets we don't want and end up with doubles. I know they won't do that though, the best we'll probably get is keychain minifigures of the turtles.

I understand man, but unfortunately it is a very common LEGO tactic.

I just want to say though, if you buy a set that has the same turtle you already have... they aren't 100% doubles. Cause the faces are different!

Just look at the different Michelangelo faces in these two sets:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/715i9Hd32jL._AA1290_.jpg
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91D47vCLcxL._AA1500_.jpg

A lot of LEGO minifigures have two faces (one on each side) but figures with special heads (like the TMNT) can't do that. But at least they give you two expressions if you buy different sets.

Donatello19
12-16-2012, 04:45 PM
That's true, I didn't notice that. Also, one set comes with a nun chuck and the other comes with a kusarigama. The truth is, I really only want the figures...I could care less about all of the vehicles and whatnot.

It's easy to get excited about new TMNT merch. Just show some restraint in the future! The thing about LEGOs is they are always pretty easy to find new sets for about a year after they come out. But after that? The sets get phased out and disappear from shelves, and they SKYROCKET in value fast. This is especially true for sets based on popular properties like Star Wars and Superheroes. I bought a bunch of Harry Potter LEGO last year because I knew they were being phased out. LEGO discontinued the entire Harry Potter brand and probably won't make them again. They are going to be incredibly valuable in the years to come. This will probably be true of the TMNT stuff.

There is only one licensed brand that LEGO has kept alive for many years and that is Star Wars. Everything else tends to get 2 or 3 years at most and then phased out. Although it is starting to look like DC and Marvel superheroes may become a long-lived brand like Star Wars.

If value is what you care about you can always keep some of your extra sets to sell later.

That's among the highest I have heard... yeah, TRU is not where you want to spend your money for LEGOs unless you just don't care about costs. Or if you need one of the TRU exclusive sets, such as Baxter Stockman.

I know TRU is struggling to stay in business but overpricing the toys way above ALL of your other competitors is a very, very poor strategy.

I got mine on amazon, since I am a Prime member that is the best option for me usually.

Do I need to jump on the Baxter set now? I don't know how "Hard to find" works. My fear is that it's one of those items that will struggle to be in stock for a year or so until it is eventually discontinued and I'm SOL. Or is "Hard to find" simply another way of saying I can only go to one store (TRU) to pick it up and as long as it's not discontinued I shouldn't have a problem frinding it there?

Those don't count as they are not available to the public! Besides, while they are nice for hardcore collectors they are just recolors and not particularly interesting for most. Definitely not worth the $120 or whatever some people are paying for each figure. While the black Leo may never be re-released I think the Human-suited Kraang probably will at some point (probably with slightly different paint apps)

I also like how he put all 3 raphaels on there even though 2 are identical :p

What do you mean "they don't count" because they are not available to the public? I am part of the public and I got them. Just because they are less accessible does not mean they don't count. What you may mean is that some people will not feel that they need them for their collection to feel complete because they are not collecting exclusives, which is fine. If you are trying to collect every tmnt mini-figure produced, then yeah, they count.

Well... if you buy a lot of LEGO you'll notice many sets come with posters or fold-outs with graphical lists of the minifigures very similar to the one shown. They never show the "convention exclusive" figures because, what's the point? you can't get them anywhere except maybe ebay where you pay an arm and a leg! so no, they don't count. if I had attented a convention and were lucky enough to get them I would treasure them, for sure. I would love that! It's very possible. LEGO games tend to be from their licensed properties these days... star wars, pirates of the caribbean, batman, harry potter, lord of the rings... granted these are mostly based on films, but batman was based on the comic (it uses music from the burton films, but the games are otherwise unrelated). Would they do a game based on a tv show? They should give it a try.

I think in early promo stuff for the set it was stated that the Dark Ninja was Chris Bradford from the get-go. They probably changed it so as to avoid spoilers with Dogpound...though it's a bit late to worry about that really now.

LEGO is really stingy on making new parts, they try to reuse the same parts for everything. The lightsaber hilt is one of the most notorious pieces and It bothers me, too. On one end, yes, LEGO is about the beauty of being able to make endless things with the pieces available, but when it comes to small, handheld items, I think the lightsaber hilt makes a bad one-piece-fits-all solution because of its shape. It looks NOTHING like a nunchaku and I have no idea why they put it on Donatello's Bo... they really should have developed a new piece to fit this void.

It's not a dealbreaker for me though. It just kinda ticks me off how expensive LEGO sets are and yet they are really bad at producing new parts to solve problems like this.

Well, if you have any of the old 2003 Mega Bloks TMNT, their weapons were actually newly molded weapons for them that from the Leo and Mike I still have, do fit in LEGO hands okay.

Just wait for Amazon and some other retailers to start stocking these sets on a regular basis. You will easily be able to score all of them (minus the Baxter limited edition set) for at least 15-20% off MSRP. If you have to have them now you likely won't get a deal though.

I'd like some proof of Baxter being limited edition. I don't recall that being mentioned at all

It said Hard to Find on the Lego website... Which doesn't technically mean that its Limited Edition, just that it will only be sold in Lego Stores and by one participating Retailer, which here is Toys R Us.

It was mentioned back in the first post:

"Hard to Find" sets are available only in LEGO retail stores, shop.lego.com and usually 1 other location (Toys R Us in the case of the Baxter Robot Rampage set above). They are not generally available elsewhere, so plan accordingly. I am not sure where to find the Baxter set outside the USA, please post if you know.

Limited Edition isn't exactly a proper term to use, but considering its essentially a retail exclusive it sort of comes out that way in the wash

zodach

LEGO used to call the store exclusive sets "Limited Edition" and now they are pegged "Hard to Find" but they are both far from the truth. They are typically easily available at the retail locations for the specific chain (ie - Target, TRU, Walmart) and at LEGO stores as well as online at both the chain and LEGO shop @ home.

These sets are usually available for at least 1 year so you have plenty of time to get them. They will be part of sales during the year for less than MSRP so you just have to be patient and keep an eye out for them.

Zulithe
12-28-2012, 02:24 PM
"Hard to find" is LEGO marketing terminology. It just means it is a retailer exclusive. It won't go out of print earlier than the other TMNT sets, but it is possible that they will go up in value more over time because they probably make a lot fewer of them.

I have to disagree with some of the above comments. Most LEGO sets are expensive -- but the TMNT sets seem very pricey for the number of bricks or what is contained int he set. The Krang set for example, is around $20 at my local TRU and its just a couple of rods and figures.

I understand Mega Bloks are lower quality, but I just don't see the value in these sets. I'll wait for clearance or a sale.

Thanks for the input, as usual.

Your beef is with TRU, not the sets in general. They are pricing them above the MSRP. The Kraang set is supposed to be $13, and that's what other retailers have it for. Just wait for them to show up at your local Walmart or Target.

I happened to get all but 1 Of the new Lego TMNT legos (I have been waiting for these since i was like 2) The mini Figures are great amazing quality far beyond that of mega bloks.

The set are very nice lots of play ability for younger kids or adults like me that like to play with them. The look very nice and parts are awesome. the van is a lot of fun the largest set and has a lot of value and fits all the turtles and splinter (not all included sorry). Each turtle has two different iterations (different heads as far as i can tell, being open and closed mouth), varying in different sets. I collected the mega bloks set and I recent found there turtle figures and comparing the two while megs bloks might have more "detail" (not to say that lego doesn't have detail). But the plastic is terrible compared to lego, But that's to be expected.

I would suggest this to anyone who like legos or tmnt i cant wait to see where the Tmnt lego line goes in terms of sets. Only problem i have is every where near me is sold out and i need that last set.

Also Im trying to build a custom lego TMNT layer for the turtle based on the new show if anyone had ideas and reference photo PM me please

I hope nobody reading this buys that pizza box.
You can get all the pieces on bricklink for pennies each and can recreate the box in photoshop and print it on high-quality board to fold. sheesh.

minifigures are different because they are harder to recreate. I still don't think they are worth anywhere near $250 each but that's for you to decide.

Apparently there are only 300 Kraangs, and 300-500 Shadow Leonardo figures (depending on what you read). So the value of rare figures for me, is the knowledge that not many people have them, regardless of what the figure looks like. I'd much rather have $500 worth of something that not many people have, as opposed to $500 worth of something that any old joe can get hold of, regardless of the plastic to cash ratio :) hehe.

The pizza-rama though, I agree that $1250 is alot if you think about what you're getting for your money, but again - you're not paying for the plastic, you're paying for rarity of the plastic... (and the instruction manual lol) If I had the spare cash, I'd be idiotic enough to buy it :D haha

The only difference between these and the toy fair figures are these appeal to tmnt collectors and lego collectors. Look up other mini figure exclusives. The prices are still pretty high.

Scanderson
01-04-2013, 09:50 AM
Well, experience demonstrates that it is often difficult to explain why the collecting community decides to "value" particular pieces the way they do. Sketches are really cool, but they are pretty accessible. The perception is likely that there is an endless supply of turtles sketches from various artists. The perceived limited nature of the Legos, from a new and exciting line, is something TMNT collectors get to sink their teeth into for the first time. I don't know that they will increase in value, but they will maintain good value. A lot of collectors are completists, and it is safe to say that there will be more than 300 TMNT Lego completists, so folks will pay a premium for those guys. I am glad to have something new to diversify the collection.

ScratchTheHotSpot
01-04-2013, 11:58 AM
I hope they don't go down in value too much, but if they do I won't be too fussed. I would definitely describe myself as a completist, which is why I got these figures for what could be considered, a 'premium' price.

Personally, I see little point in starting to collect TMNT lego myself, if I don't have all the mini figs that are available. It would just niggle at me if I didn't get them, and they became very hard to find, so I snapped them up. I didn't want to sit on the fence with these and risk the prices going up in a few months.

As was mentioned before, there will be Lego guys, as well as TMNT guys wanting these for their collections so for that reason, I think they were a safe buy.

This is definitely on a store by store basis. I tried to get them to match the Lego Store Online Pricing and met with the same hold ups as usual from trying to pricematch with only internet information. I know that some will do it, but the two in my area, both said "we don't match internet pricing because they don't have overhead." Also from a friend that manages a nearby TRU, I was told that they are being more selective about what they price match now that Christmas is over

That's cool

yep they're in alberta picked up some sets at tru a week before xmas. sold out quick though.....

Awesome! Tonight I bought the Lair attack set from Walmart. Only set they had to and one left so I got real lucky! I'm still hoping, like others, for them to release seperate minifigs

Anyone get their LEGO Club magazine with the TMNT comic and stuff inside? I got mine along with a new LEGO catalog on the same day.

Sign up for the free print mag on club.lego.com. It comes with coupons and stuff sometimes.

So tell them you know that by ”sop” they price match amazon. If they say no, tell them thats fine, I'll just call corporate and see what they say....see when an employee changes a price, options pop up as to why, they select ”price match” then another set of options pop up with a list of stores, target, walmart, k-mart etc. On that same list is amazon.....why is amazon there if they don't match it? I work for toys r us, if it's being said no, that's a,manager saying no, but once you say you'll call corporate and see what the rules really are. I guarantee it will be pricematched. Just don't get all hot headed. Stay calm and cool.

It was announced today that Target now PRICE MATCHES other stores all year round (not just around Christmas.)

Keep this in mind if you are shopping for LEGOs! You can find the cheapest price and then go into Target and get it there. Amazon has LEGO sales very often so this could be a great tactic. Walk into Target, look for an item you want, then check amazon.com or other sites to see if it's on sale :P

Well the one near me definitely has been getting new TMNT stock. They should be adding it any day now. You can always ask an employee about it too. They could have boxes in the back and sometimes it is not hard to get them to bring one or two out for you to look through.

Pro tip: ask the younger employees first.

I finally saw the lair set and the shellraiser set at Walmart last night. They are nice sets, but I have a really hard time justifying spending $50 on a lego set. I'll keep an eye out for smaller sets and eventually try to get a full set of the 4 turtles that way.

I spent about 1000 on LEGO in 2012 and so far in 2013 I've already spent about 220 or 250. It racks up VERY FAST but LEGO is a great product. They will last a lifetime. Also the resale/trade value on LEGO, especially minifigures, is really high. They are a sound investment for anyone interested in them :)

best way i justify spending money on lego is to put each "brick" at a price of $.10 cents then look at how many mini-figures come with the set.

so the turtle lair has 488 pieces and 5 mini-figs. At $.10 cents a piece, comes to $48.80.

I find the turtle sets priced very well and the play/collector value strong

It's not a set, he's talking about this website:

http://turtles.lego.com/en-us/?icmp=COUSFR14TMNT

There are separate pages called "funzone", "shredder's hideout" and "kraang's lab". There used to be a 4th one called "donnie's lab".

There's still a link to it if you click on the orange tunnel.

79101
No Shredder, Foot, or Donnie (Only Shredder's Bike and Don's Bike)

79102
No Foot and No raph (I do have Fishface and his water vehicle + Raphs Vehicle)

I may also be willing to trade or sell the Lair
79103
No Foot, No Leo, No Raph (I do have the whole lair, the masked ninja, and splinter)

Found the Lair at Target yesterday and just built it.

Honestly, it's a little underwhelming, but I guess after having built the LEGO Monster Fighters Vampire Castle and how epic that was it's not surprising.

I now have all the LEGO TMNT sets though unless LEGO plans any further ones in the future.

I think there will be more, it depends on popularity though. They seem to be selling well but if you look on amazon's top 100 selling brick sets (includes all lego, mega bloks, etc.) it is totally dominated by Ninjago, LEGO Friends (their brand targeted at girls), the new Chima, and a spotty selection of other stuff that mostly includes Star Wars, LEGO City, Hobbit/LotR, Super Heroes and generic LEGO. Whew, that's a lot of brands.

Not to say TMNT is doing POOR but it does not seem to be a surprise hit, either. It is merely doing average as far as amazon is concerned. But who knows, the sales at other stores could be a lot different.

I think a problem is that TMNT goes head-to-head with Ninjago because they are a bit similar, but at the same time Ninjago (and the new Chima sets) have more play features such as Spinjitsu and speedzors that add a lot of extra potential.

LEGO has a lot of products and brands on its plate now and they are all competing for the mindshare of kids as well as AFOLs. I hope TMNT can succeed.

I noticed that as well when I was assembling my set. If we got a modern update of the Turtle Blimp that'd be awesome, but I'm sadly guessing it's just a nod to it. Asn 'easter egg' for original fans basically. If it shows up in the cartoon, then maybe I can see Playmates giving us one.

The ridiculous part is that you would pay $100 for the Dogpound minifig when you can go to a store and buy the set he comes in for $60 and also get a Leonardo, Michelangelo, Foot Soldier w/ Red Details, and A Kraang. The prices people pay for a single minifigure are ridiculous when the sets are still on the shelves... in a few years I could understand but hello McFly use your head

I disagree. My Baxter robot suit constantly slips from its standing position. He is not firm. His joints are loose. The shields on his front pop off with gentle moving, as i was posing him. His arms are as loose as the legs. His whole suit seems loose to me. Aside from that its great to look at, but actually playing with it would be difficult.

Wha, a parent on TRU.com was right?! :teek: But still, I'm sure it falls apart more for him or her because of their kid playing rough with it. This is one of the reasons I'm not buying any of these, also because they're expensive, seem to be boring to play with/pose/display, and take up a lot of space. I have some Toy Story LEGOs and they also fall apart from moving them too much, and it's very tedious to put them back together. For me, the fun ends when you're done building the set XD

Sorry to hear that... I will post my impressions later this week after mine arrives. LEGO is a mixed bag when it comes to things like posing or playability. The building and displaying part is fantastic, but when you try to do anything with it the experience can't compare to, say, action figures. This is part of the reason why LEGO expanded their product line to include buildable action figures like their Ultrabuild (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Ultrabuild) and Hero Factory (http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Hero_Factory) stuff.

But by far the best part about LEGO is the building, and using your collection of sets/pieces to build new creations, as that is their original intention. It's so much fun!

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with yours, but I think it may be a case by case sort of thing though. I have been posing my Baxter Robot in all sorts of wacky ways since I finished building it. The only time I have problems is when I try to mock walking, since he has no knee articulation. Other than that still poses have been fantastic.

You heard LEGO Marvel Universe is next, right? After LEGO Batman 2, LEGO LotR and LEGO City Undercover, it will probably be voiced. I hope they can get voices from the film actors to reprise them. Or maybe they'll just pull audio from the films.

I'd guess they won't be basing the game really in the Marvel Movie Universe, just that they might use looks for characters like Iron Man and Captain America maybe, so they'll probably just use regular voice actors like they did with LEGO Batman 2.
