In the recent "Attack of the Mousers" Nick toon, it was suggested that Leonardo and Raphael were the 'A' team.

Generally speaking, I've always considered Leonardo/Donatello a force to be reckoned with.

A Leonardo/Raphael combination would be good in a short and intense battle, but if you wanted a juggernaut of destruction then I think Michelangelo/Raphael would be best. Raphael/Donatello...not so much.

Well, though Raph & Leo may not always get along, I think it's obvious they're the most competent fighters, at least on an offensive level. Raphael is fast, fearless, brutal, Leonardo is calculated, focused, sharp. Definitely a force to be reckoned with. I suppose this analysis is based on like, the movie turtles, mirage turtles, & 2k3 turtles. As for the OT I think Leo & Donny would make the best team.

Hey, the Donnie/Raph pairing is awesome. Just read some of the Archie books. :D

i like the idea of leo/donnie. thats cuz while raph is a great fighter, he can be hotheaded and too impulsive. so leo has the brawn covered better there. of the two brothers left, donnie is obviously more level headed than mikey. that topped off with his inherently higher intelligence, caps off leo's solid fighting ability. kinda process of elimination. you just skim off the rashness of raph and mindlessness of mikey.

This is totally true...depends on what incarnation you are dealing with. OT Leo and Don would be the best! On 2012, Leo and Raph in the fighting department.

The funniest stories comes out of this team up :tsmile:

I guess part of it for me is that the A Team is not just purely about offensive fighting (although that is a large part of it) - so a balance of the most necessary skills is needed (eg. stealth, hacking, and as Archer would say "situational awareness").

Donatello acted like the leader in most of the OT's episodes and solved the problem in almost every ep.

I always found it strange we never got more Leo/Don stories. You'd think both the leader and the smartest one of the group would butt heads more often, but it never happened outside of early IDW.

I've always thought Leo and Mikey could be a force. Mikey has the most talent, and Leo could keep him in check to bring it out.

Leonardo did try to train Mike in, "Grudge Match" during his Battle Nexus rematch against Kuln or whatever his name was.

Yeah. Even though it had to take the threat of his family dying, Mikey then f*cked the dude up.

Now that you say that all I can think of is the Turtles as the A-Team...

You got Leo as Hannibal, saying he loves it when a plan comes together an putting a big greasy piece of pizza in his mouth, plus he would look great with that silver hair

Donnie is clearly Faceman, what with him being the Edward Cullen of ninja turtles and having the shell that brings all the girls to the yard

Then You got Howlin' Mad Mikey, whose outer craziness masks an inner brillance

and finally Bad Attitude Raphael, who has no problem with a blimp but he ain't getting on no plane.

I guess that would make April Triple-A, but nobody cares about Triple-A, still she is a reporter who assists them (at least in the OT)

Man that is a cross-over I totally could have gotten behind for the original Playmates Toy Line... Just because I'd want to have a Raphael covered in gold chains, with a jean vest, beard, and mohawk

ROFL to all of that. Throw in Bishop as the guy that 'frames them for a crime they didn't commit' and occassionally appears in the episodes trying to find them.

I always liked Raph and Donnie as the perfect combination. They balance each other perfectly as the strongest offensive fighter and strongest on defensive, and they don't actually argue nearly as much as they do with any of the others. Raphael's not stupid and doesn't get as distracted like Mikey when Don's trying to explain his more high tech plans to him, and Donnie isn't as much of a prick as Leo when it comes to making sure things go his way so he doesn't aggravate Raph. They both have their moments of being able to take over for leadership, with Raph tumbling in for the first punch when needed and Don slowing down enough when they get stuck in sticky situations that they both have their time to shine without having to outdo one another.

That being said, tis true with the good ol' 'They're ALL the A-team' motto.

I'd say the Leo & Don combo would fit perfectly..leadership & brains..hard to beat that. I still rather send in the wrecking ball crew Raph & Casey:tlol::tlol::tlol:

87: Leo and Don
Archie: Raph and Don (Leo wasn't featured much in the Archie version for some reason)
2K3: Leo (lol)
2K12: Leo and Raph

wow, based on everyones choices and the reasons behind their combinations, Mike is just a dud huh? No one has really named some characteritcs that would makw him a good "A team" Without adding how his vices typically negate his better qualities.

In the OT I thought the Leo+Mike and Don+Raph combos were interesting. Raph and Don played off each well because they both seemed cynical and "harder edged" in their thinking while Leo and Mike were most idealistic. Notice in that Red Sky episiode the team "splits up" it is Raph and Don who want to join the anti-human pro mutant team while Leo and Mike were skeptical on their motives? There were plenty of instances of that kind of division in the OT.

Don had a much bigger temper in the OT than other incarnations though.

Mikey can be a powerhouse when he needs to be. He can focus and rise to the occasion :)

Which is why I've always liked the Raph/Mikey connection because together they are an unstoppable force of rage.

That "A" Team concept is going by physical strength. Michelangelo is the agile and athletic more than the others so agile athleticism and brute strength with Mike and Raph's quick wit would make them an "A" team combo. This is the most underrated combo because of the lack of Leo's discipline and Don's strategic mind. Not to mention the screenname of mine give away a bit of bias. :twink: I always liked the Michelangelo/Raphael dynamic whether its '87 cartoon influenced for not. Leonardo/Donatello as a djuo seems natural like the Mike and Raph pairring. The disciplined and the intellectual.Their dynamic is being explored currently in IDW.

Leo and Donnie for sure. Brains, brawn, and leadership. Not saying Raph and Mikey are lesser Ninjas, but they all have their unique characteristics which is what makes them so awesome and memorable.
