The level of don and Mikey's fighting is so underrated in this show its almost unbearable. I'm a die hard fan but they way they make it seem like they contribute nothing...smh.

Did no one see the episode never say xever? The rooftop scene shows great skill from every turtle..and yet don and Miley are treated like pawns in the episode where the mousers attacked.

Everyone gets their turn to fall short, each TMNT series so far has shown that all of the turtles have strengths and weaknesses, & that none of them can win or be the best in every fight. Besides, think about the Metalhead episode- Donny singlehandedly saved their asses with his staff & ninjutsu skill. Not to mention the whole point of the episode before last was to prove that Leo & Raph can't do much without Donny & Mikey. Chill out & give it time, everyone will get a fair slot in the limelight I'm sure...

Didn't Mikey single handedly take down Bradford in his debut episode, and get a couple of hits on Shredder?

Didn't Mikey single handedly take down Bradford in his debut episode, and get a couple of hits on Shredder?

Indeed. And in Bradford's first attack, he laid out every turtle except Mikey, whose moment was interrupted. Mikey threw his chain, Bradford caught it, and Mikey still recovered. Not like the other turtles who got slapped with brick walls. It's too bad Leo jumped in a the cops showed up, cause I'd like to see how that would've ended.
He also held his own against both Bradford and Xever when they ambushed him, until Bradford revealed himself and broke Mikey's spirit.

Fighting is the one area where Mikey doesn't fail.

I've defended Mikey's fighting abilities three or four times, now. I'm gonna start copy/pasting.

I ment the creators of this nick version have set don and mike up as weak fighters. In every other version they are all just as capable of taking one another down where here on nick it's a blatant Leo an raph supremacy

I agree, i too have the feeling that the makers made Don and mike weaker than Leo and raph. Sure, they Do did some hits on enemys but compare it to Leo and raphs fighting action - they get threaten like little kids compared to them.
Never seen a different In fighting skill like that in other turtle versions

All good points. Plus he totally wrecked a rack of Foot Ninja in "Never Say Xever".

I will agree that Donatello has taken the short staff when it comes to fighting in this series, however while Michelangelo is often overlooked by his brothers it is usually because of his personality not his inability to fight. Heck they had that whole part in the Monkey Brains episode where Splinter straight up admitted that Mikey is a hell of a fighter if he doesn't overthink things. Donatello though is always doubting himself and being treated like a chump. Which really plays against the whole smartest turtle thing in my eyes.

I think all of the Turtles have been shown to have good fighting skills in this series. Yes, it seems like Don and Mikey get the short end of the stick, but they have proven themselves. Heck, Mikey took out Bradford with his own kata, and as stated, Don was able to defeat Metalhead.

Don defeating Metalhead seemed more like a fluke of luck than any actual skill to me. I had hoped the whole point of the episode was to prove his bo wasn't as worthless as he (and the audience) seemed to think it was, but the damn thing once again broke two seconds into the fight without his really getting to tap into its potential.

Not luck. Donnie realized he can use that metal slab to his advantage.

But yeah, the weakest in terms of fighting seems to be Don (but he compensates for it for building things so I think it's fair). Mikey is actually really skilled, but just didn't have the focus and drive like Leo and Raph did.

I think they should show that raph's temper is more an disadvantage. There was only just one episode where Raph messed up because of this.
Raph seems in general the turtle that's the favorite of all (no offense, i really like his style too), but in the nick show he earns too much favor by the storywriters if you ask me. "Cool but rude".. A bit "too" cool compared to the others if you ask me..

Mike for example messed up more often because of his personal advantages.
I think thats not fair..Okay we get it..Mike is more child than others, but it seems he always roam in the shadows of his older brothers! Something that wasn't totally not the case in the other Shows... I like the humor of the show, but it seems that Mike is in use as the general factor for humor here.

And what about Leo? Sure, the show has just started so there can't be much room now for an inner conflict story (i think leos character is the most complex of the turtles), but did Leo failed somewhen in the episodes if it comes to fighting? I can't remember this.. But i remember Leo's fight in the 2k3 Show and his stand alone fight and loose against the shredder and the footclan.

Loosing for Leo is his biggest fear and they should bring that more up in the actual show.

And yeah we don't have to talk about Don.. Totally underrated fighting skills here. Give him an iron bo and he may kick some ass more. I dislike the idea of killing his fighting abilitys just for a stupid slapstick laugh in every episode (getting his bo pulverized, burnt, whatever). I want to see him kicking ass and not getting his weapon destroyed and building instead useless junk that has disfunctions over and over again.

Just my views

Raphs temper can be an advantage and a disadvantage. If he is alone it is good as it makes him stronger and more focused. If they are fighting as at team it is a disadvantage because it clouds his judgement and makes him do stupid things putiing the mission in jeporady.

The Mousers Attack shows us that Leo and Raph really are the most capable duo when fighting, with little foolishness and great execution. They both have bladed weapons so naturally they have the biggest power. Don is an OK fighter, but gets too much thought over his head sometimes and often waits until the last second to accomplish things. In a way that's similar to Mike in Mirage/4kids. Mike seems to fight best solo, but a good joke can distract his opponents and can take him down that way. Raph is more of "the quiet one", who gets the job done without much flair.

Well put, pannoni1.:tsmile: Hopefully, we can now accept that Don and Mikey are still beneficiary to the team, even though they have more to learn as ninjas. They can fight, but they are not Leo and Raph. Besides, Leo and Raph are different in their fighting styles, too.

I too am a little disappointed with the seemingly weakness of Don and especially my favorite "Mike". As a kid between me and my four buds I was mike. all started when we found the greatest arcade game we had ever seen. The original four player TMNT Game at Chucky cheese.
In some sick way I take it personal :lol:

I'm surprised at this actually. Don and Mike seem incredibly effective during battles. They take just about the same amount of damage as Raph and Leo during fights (Xever and Bradford have both overwhelmed all 4 of them before and all 4 turtles lay waste to the Kraang and Foot Ninjas) but outside of the monkey fight (which highlighted Don's weaknesses) and failed sparring matches amongst each other (which detailed the turtle's strengths and weaknesses between each other) and The Shredder fight (where all 4 turtles got hits in before being taken down) I think their physical talents and skills should not even be a question. I mean he may have trouble besting Raph in a fight (which I feel will happen sooner or later) but Don's fighting skills are still light years better then most. The same with Mikey. He's definitely nasty during fights. I still love that scene of him getting thrown off the roof by Shredder and still throwing ninja stars as he's going down.

This is a small thing, but it's weird whenever the Turtles charge toward something they hold their arms back to their sides as if they're a plane on a runway taking off.

...but whatever...LOL...

...but whatever...LOL...First time I watched characters run like that was in Naruto. It's supposedly looks like a jet to promote aerodynamically I think, which is utter nonsense. I find it hilarious.

Yeah because they are running so fast, that they have to consider aerodynamic drag... LOL  The running style seemed ridiculous to me too.

I think it's weird that people think it's weird how the turtles run. This show obviously takes a lot of influence from anime, and the way they run is a pretty popular way for a lot of anime ninjas to run. It's really not that new a style and this is from someone who doesn't even watch anime. In any case, I like the way it looks, we've seen them run 'normally' a few times and both ways look just fine to me.

Personally, I think the storyboarders should get their ideas from actual ninja movements, not stupid anime cliches.

I don't disagree, but anime is the 'in' thing right now with kids and they've used elements, mostly facial expressions of the turtles at various points, throughout the show, so I don't know why the way they run is seen as so out there when it fits in line with the overall aesthetic choices that have been made so far.

Real Shinobi is very boring for an action cartoon. It's too subtle.

Same thing with actual martial arts, you see it movies and cartoons, artistic liberty is always taken to make it more cooler on the screen.

I agree with you there, if the Turtles were really concerned about trying to be fast as possible, you'd think they would follow the moves of a professional sprinter/runner. But whatever...I just found it hilarious that the Nick turtles were ready to "take off." I think the "running" issue is probably going to be one of those divisive issues were some will think its corny (following anime rather than an actual ninja moves), fittingly humorous, cool, or unconcerned.

eh, it's how anime ninjas run. And yeah, you need some flash and flair here and there. Real ninja would be boring because all we'd see if darkness and the intended target just dropping dead. Real ninjas were supposed to do their mission with one lethal strike, and never be seen or heard the entire time they're there. Them taking the time to actually start an epic one on one martial arts battle with someone is already failing the mission.
