How come nick can use their old theme music, but 4kids couldn't? Turtles Forever gave the old school turtles a new corny theme music.

Was Peter Laird even interested in them re-using the Fred Wolf song? I doubt he would be.

Except they AREN'T using the '87 theme music. The theme of the new show is definitely inspired by the old one, but it isn't the same.

^What he said. It isn't the exact same song.

Are you talking about the beginning theme or the ringtones? Because they can use that if they get permission.

Maybe they got the rights and we just don't know about it, or maybe they're looking right at Fred Wolf Films and saying "We're Viacom bitch, pleeeease take us to court. We dare you".

I think he's talking about the T-phone music, not the overall theme song.
The t-phone music is definitely almost identical to the OT theme song.

I'm talking about both the ringtone and the first few seconds of the intro. The rest of the intro is different, I'm surprised they got away with using the lyrics of the first few seconds.
It's the same exact lyrics from the 1987 show:
Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles!
Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles!
Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles!
Heroes in a half shelf, turtle power!
Btw, the ringtone sounds like the theme music of the first 1990's TMNT LCD hand held game.

LMAO. That's my thought!
Hmm.. I thought Viacom purchased the entire franchise, including the music.:tconfuse: I think they simply don't have the rights to re-air/distribute the original series.

The 4Kids guys didn't want to. I mean they have a hard enough time seperating themselves from the old show without people asking where Bebop and Rocksteady are or calling Ch'Rell Krang and such.... adding a version of the OT theme song would have made it even harder.

I love that little game (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=21423)!

Duh. But they did want to use (or at least recreate) OT music for Turtles Forever, but they couldn't.

I'm almost positive that Peter Laird would have absolutely vetoed any use of the Fred Wolf song even if the 4Kids crew were pushing for it.
