Turtle themed fun in New York?

This April I will be going to New York! :tgrin: I was wondering, Do you guys know of any fun TMNT related spots to visit there?

Also, where are the good places to buy toys?
There's a TRU in Times Square, and have been pointed to a couple of comic shops too, is it worth heading accross the river to Jersey (Target, etc.)?

Hmm, Well If I were going, I would think about visiting locations from some of my favorite films... one being TMNT (1990)

According to WikiPedia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz92prJ3XlM) most of the film was shot in North Carolina (really? wow) but some key shots were done in NYC. It would be interesting to find out which scenes were shot in NYC and find those locations and take photos!

This is a really common and rewarding thing to do on trips. One I see a lot online is people visiting the mall parking lot used in Back To The Future.

Museum of Natural History's on there too, but not just because Mrs HBW like Night At Ther Museum, I need to see dinosaurs!!

We already had a thread discussing this recently, and sadly the Turtles don't get much respect. There's a neighborhood called Turtle Bay east of Midtown, but don't look for any heroes in a halfshell.

The Pizzeria from Secret Of The Ooze was still around last I was in NY, Famous Rays. I think they're under new ownership though, and now have a different name... There's also the path outside of central park where Raphael scared off the thugs who were tryna rob April in the first film. Ummmm that's all I can think of at the moment, there's not as much as you'd hope.

There are studios in Wilmington. They just shot a bunch of Iron Man 3 there. I don't know what of the Turtles movies was shot in NC, but I imagine it was mostly studio work, as not much of North Carolina could pass for NYC...

In neither the Mirage comic nor the 1987 cartoon do I recall any exact locations of places in NYC being mentioned (other than the Twin Towers in one episode).

FAO Schwarz is the oldest toy store in the US. It was the one featured in the 80s Tom Hanks movie, "Big" where he and his boss danced on the giant piano keys.

Specifically I mean the flagship store (which is apparently the only location still open). It belongs to Toys R Us now, but HugeBadWolf asked about toys. That's where I'd go: General Motors Building at Fifth Avenue and 58th Street in Manhattan.
