View Full Version : You think the Mousers and/or Roadkill Rodneys should've been in more than 1 episode?

In the 80's / 90's cartoon, there were 193 episodes but the Roadkill Rodney unicycle robots only appeared in one episode: Enter The Shredder. The Mousers only appeared in the episode after that: A Thing About Rats.

The Foot Soldiers on the other hand appeared a lot more often in the Shredder and Krang episodes. I know the Roadkill Rodneys are also in Blast From The Past but that was just a clip show and they were only scenes from Enter The Shredder.

Do you think the Mousers and Roadkill Rodneys should have appeared more regularly like the Foot Soldiers or was one episode enough?

I think the Roadkill Rodneys could have been used a bit more. They had a cool design and had a lot more personality than some of Shredder and Krang's other robotic creations.

For some reason whenever one of Krang's inventions fail he just abandons it.

The Mousers were created by Baxter so only he knew how to make them. After becoming a fly he probably forgot how to make them.

Of course Shredder did have a complete duplication scan of the mousers in his computer, in theory he could have made more any time he wanted.

I assume that after Donatello figured out how to control them, Shredder immediately abandoned the little bots. And maybe the fact that they tried to kill him by demolishing a house on top of him may have left a bad taste in his mouth.

well... whenever ANY villain's plans fail they just abandon them. It never makes sense except for the fact that we don't want to see an episode that deals with the same evil scheme twice.

Besides the whole "Villains abandon evil devices every episode" thing, Mousers aren't that useful--all they can do is chase you and bite things. I can see their abandonment being much plausiable than others.

I guess the Rodneys are a little more useful, what with the firepower, but being small, easily-destroyed robots might pose a problem yet again.

true... but Shredder did have 2 completely unreliable henchmen and an army of break-apart ninja robots... so adding a few extra useless robots against the turtles wouldn't hurt any.

In the Mirage series, Mousers sent by Baxter Stockman to destroy April and the Turtles chewed their way into the underground control room where they were about to chew our heroes to death. They weren't necessarily real powerful individually, but there were a lot more than they could fight. (April manages to find a way to shut the Mousers down via remote control.)

Yeah I was dissapointed by this fact. I loved them both in the video games and I would have loved to have seen them more.

I would have loved to see the Roadkill Rodneys electrocute people and mutants like they did in the video games, plus they could have been used in robot episodes such as Attack of the BIG MACC to add trouble. There could have been one more Mousers episode featuring jumbo-sized mousers large enough to fit Baxter.

That would have been SO much cooler than his cartoon gags tractor in "Return of the Shredder." :tthumbsu:

they were in many video games and only saw them in one episode

True. Maybe the Mousers and the Rodneys were just less marketable. :P

Yeah, but we're talking about the OT, where the Mousers (and the Rodneys) wouldn't have been "allowed" to hurt a sapient, living character. I was making a statement based more on the moral laws of that particular cartoon universe.

Says you.

The Ultimate Rat-Catcher is frigging awesome. :D

And really, a giant Mouser wouldn't be any less dorky.
