Sky Turtles

Howdy guys, I'm back to working on my TMNT mod, and I'm trying to bring the Turtle Blimp to life in Freedom Force. I'm curious about what types of abilities it demonstrated in the classic 'toon. What could it do?

The basic operations and all that would be needed for a fan-made game is #1 the glider can separate from the balloon part of the blimp. #2 it has blasters that could fire at enemies. That's basically it. Though it was only a two seater two of them are on the glider's wings sitting.

Off hand, I really can't think of too many abilities other than the fact that the glider detached and that the toy allowed you to drop some bombs.

The turtle blimp flew to that dinosaur cave in Turtles At The Earth's Core. I think the turtles went there through that hole Michaelangelo steppped in at the park so the turtle blimp can obviously fit through that.

Also, the turtle blimp works fine in the 4kids universe as shown in Turtles Forever.

I always wondered why they couldn't use an indoor gondola at the Turtle Blimp, so they could travel longer in it. The idea of sitting like that, outdoors and hanging, for hours seem totally unrealistic even for a show with talking turtles (I can take it when they just fly inside New York City and Upstate New York, but not to let's say California).

Surprisingly unlike the Playmates vehicle it didn't have smoke bombs on the side, and this would have been a great episode for the Blimp to fire them away at the source of the gravity modifier. Of all things considered though, the amount of power in the Turtle Blimp is fairly realistic, except perhaps for the amount of gas (which seems to be pretty high if the vent stays closed). OF course when the buildings/objects return to the surface, they all land without a hint of damage, which means that the anti-gravity device must have gradually returned the gravity to normal with its latent energy just enough to allow the buildings to return to the ground intact.

Pretty sure the show did use the bombs on the glider. Definitely in "Shredder and Splintered" and "Beneath these Streets" were in the latter it contained something like sneezing powder.

From recollection the bombs in the show came from underneath the glider rather than at the sides like the toy version and true to the shows form they were never consistently present in every appearance or even in different shots in the same episode.

The front turret was shown to fire a laser but I can't remember the the upper side two ever firing although presumebly that's what they were designed for.
