Alrighty.. looks like the info on these new eps are coming out faster than we can keep track of them.

So we finally see what kind of 'reject' April's going to be in high school. Because that's how it Always is... why else would she hang out in a sewer?

High School... the memories of weird cliques, hormonal spikes and crashes fit to drive one into manic terror, and strange science projects of making anything from soap from your own spit to stink bombs that ended up with you in Detention hall.

To April it's old news that's Really worn itself out - I have to wonder what her grades are, since she apparently NEVER has homework. ;)

But just think... for four sheltered and home-schooled teenage boys who've only just Recently been allowed to the surface world - Man, what a Wonderland of experiences.

So, April is working on some sort of science project, according to what we've read so far. No doubt Donnie's making himself Ever so available... He's so darn cute in his crush, she could knock him down with a single breath at this point.

Well, it seems that April's doing something a lil sketchy from dealings with the Kraang. She's catching the attention of a certain scientist named Mrs. Campbell, played by the actress that portrayed the one and only Elvira. I guess we'll be seeing just how far the censors could go with that character design..

Mrs. Campbell apparently is a participating scientist from the World Wide Genome Project. (Human Genome Project, if you will). And, amazingly, the scientist "takes a particular interest in April O'Neil".

I've installed a mini-rant here, read at your own peril..
Here's where a lil teeny part of me gets suspicious - then again, It may be nothing. If anyone here's watched Transformers: The Animated Series, you know how the main character girl Sari magically turned out to be a protoform engineered by her dad, and was part transformer herself.

I have a HUGE feeling that we're going to end up with a non-human April. Not a single character so far has been an actual Normal human. Not to mention her dad being a super brilliant scientist that the Kraang kidnapped to use themselves. I just have the worst hunch that April's going to turn out to be a partial mutant with super psychic powers and fighting abilities that NOBODY saw coming. Kinda like the Mirage April that turned out to be a drawing come to life....

So, somehow the boys are going to get some exposure to the strange environment of High School - I can't imagine Splinter being okay with this. He may have to bust out a lil rondori on their butts if he catches them.

WILL APRIL'S SCIENCE PROJECT END UP WITH HER ON A PEDESTAL, OR IN A PETRI DISH?!
WILL THE TURTLES SURVIVE THEIR FIRST EXPOSURE TO HIGH SCHOOL?!

This was a great episode, and I loved the final fight with Leo and the new mutant. The animation in this show does seem to get better with each new episode. Also liked that we saw Fishface getting his legs. I'm interested in what lies Karai has been told by Shredder about Yoshi.

Well, it's better to have no space heroes then a bad episode.

Very good episode that develops a lot of points, that I'd love to watch again! When I saw the Leo vs. Karai flashback at the beginning, I knew it would be good since it avoids waiting 5-10 episodes for another meeting, and picks right off from the last episode, since Leonardo mentions to Karai about the battle "last night". We also saw Baxter/Dogpound/Fishface again for the first time in several episodes, and the remark about Shredder telling Baxter that if he fails again, he won't be walking, suggesting a possible mutation ahead. But the biggest surprise was what seemed to be Madison Square Garden turn out to be more like a TCRI building, except that it was simply the WGP headquarters, and it was well planned in terms of what kind of mutant would pop up next, and it turns out to be an octopus, in which Michelangelo (the 4kids-style girly scream is even featured) calls it Justin. Ironically, the Turtles joked that the Kraang are helping them out. At the end of the episode, when Karai shows Shredder what a Kraang is typical of, it builds drama since it will mean that soon Shredder may use the Kraang at his advantage to capturing the Turtles. Also, while it seems that Leo may have conquered his love for Karai by saying that "it's so over", there is always that temptation that still exists that could be detrimental. I also enjoyed Raph's line of "after this is over, wait until you see how entertaining this is", which reminded me a bit of OT Raph's jokes. And a pizza omelet may be a bit too much for me, as it involves two meals stuffed with toppings!

Overall: 9/10

-April and her "Thank you Splinter!" line was great. It was pretty cool to see a Kraangless Kraangdroid.

Right up there as one of the best eps (which is becoming a trend, they are definitely keeping the writing and plot development strong), had some great fights, humor, even a new villain yet still lots of returning characters. Fantastic.

Aww. Leo was so cute in this episode. Seriously. :D And whoohoo Fishface got his legs! :) I liked the part about April's emergency text. 'Attacked by an old lady.' :lol: and that part when Mikey was wearing the lady's face as a mask. :tlol: along with Raph's scream.

Yo this episode was amazing! Some of the best fight scenes yet, if not ever, and the animation was fluid as hell. Really wonderfully presented. Top notch humor as always, & I loved that it had some April focus. I honestly think Nicks April is my favorite of them all, I really like her. & it's fantastic Leonardo has finally been getting so much character development, I felt at first he fell a little flat and I was leaning towards liking Donny the best (for this series, not in general) but now that he's coming into his own he's got a lot of charm. Gotta love how he can go from adorable to badass to a total dork at a moments notice. That's the good 'ol well rounded Leo I know & love. :) Awesome to finally see Shredder & the gang finally connect with the Kraang, I'm very eager to see what comes of that.

I loved the joke when Donny said he "had an app for that" then Raph smashed the door. It was the highlight of the episode for me. Either that or naming the octopus Justin. I also liked what I think was a framerate boost. I think. Can anyone clarify that there was a framerate boost and by how much?

Yes Shredder made that comment about what Yoshi did to "US" which is a clear foreshadowing to me. Which is going to make Leo's crush on Karai kind of weird when they find out she is kiiiiiiinda related to them!

"Us" could be interpreted different ways but the most obvious is that she was around at the time Oroku and Yoshi had their last confrontation... and that can only mean one thing.

My favorite episode so far (I'm going to be saying that every week now, aren't I ? :trazz:). I was very surprised to see Karai return already, I thought we wouldn't see her for at least another 5 episodes. The episode just amazed me. All I was expecting was a lame, filler episode about the turtles going to April's school, but instead we saw so many great things, some of which I have really been waiting for, like:

-Fishface's legs (finally!)
-Baxter returning
-Karai returning
-Leo crushing on Karai
-Raph worrying about Leo and fighting Karai
-More information on The Kraang
-Shredder and the foot finding out about The Kraang

Like I always say, I can't wait for next week. The episode just kept me wanting more and more. The only thing I didn't like all that much was the whole "Mrs. Campbell" thing with April's school and all. I felt it was un-neccesary for that whole scene, it was boring and, IMO, got in the way of all the action. Now I can't wait to see more of Karai, Fishface, and Shredder learning about The Kraang.

It could be about her "Universal Vibrations", ya' know, the special gift that Splinter says she has. Or it could be that they kidnapped her father, and wanted to make sure she was related to him. IMO, the whole plot about April and the school was stupid and un-neccesary.

Hands down, one of the best episodes in the season. The more and more we get see Karai, the more I am starting to love her. She is such a kick ass character and I really love this incarnation of her.

I really did wish though we got to see more of Mrs. Campbell, since I love Casandra Peterson aka Elvira. The fight scene between Mrs. Campbell and the Turtles was awesome. That was funny when Michelangelo wore her face while talking after they defeated her. As for the non Irma cameo, I didn't expect it. Honestly, while I would love for her to appear on the show, at this point it doesn't matter. I can careless about cameos at this point because I love the direction this showing is going.

I got goosebumps when Karai took the Kraang droid to Shredder's headquarters, since it will be leading up to the alliance between Shredder and the Kraang. I also like they show Baxter Stockman giving Xever his legs, and was laughing hard when Dogpound was laughing at his expensive.

Overall an excellent episode. Well done.

that's been a commn thought since episode 1 lol... a leaked nio said Shredder had a daughter Miwa... Karai calls Shredder 'father' and his comment about what Hamato done to 'them'... that pretty much clinches things.

My theory is that either Karai is just a code-name or that Shredder renamed her... if I wasn't so sure she was Miwa I would ship her and Leo...

From what I remember, I saw snake, cat, and octopus DNA. Also, since the turtles touched Yoshi when they were mutated, would their DNA match his and make Karai their sibling?

I don't think enough people are mentioning how well written Karai's dialogue was. She's not just speaking generic monotone, "I am evil, you guys are good, we can't be friends," type of lines, its actually really well done and witty.

So is Karai talking back to Shredder.

I'm probably in the minority, but Karai's design is REALLY growing on me. Actually digging it now.

With that said, I wasn't heavily opposed to the design when it first came out like many of the people here were.

Looks like they're also improving the animation. I'm excited to think what Season 2 will look like now.

Definitely a favourite episode. This second half of the season is really starting to pick up the pace. Loved the Leo vs Raph, the Raph vs Karai dynamic.

I laughed so hard when Mikey screamed at the Kitten.

Fantastic episode... After the opening when Leonardo was showing off for Karai, I said to myself "Awww, I was hoping they would get to Fishface soon, but I guess its more Karai" then as if they knew how I was feeling they come back after the theme song and low and behold there is Xever outfitted with his breathing apparatus and about to test his new legs... I can not wait until he is a viable threat again.

I really like that Baxter called Shredder "Mister Shredder" something about it was just so innocent, and it also was a sly way to indicate to us that Mr. Stockman is most definitely and independent contractor and not a member of the Foot Clan. Then you have Karai come in and basically call out her father for not questioning why Splinter has four turtles as disciples and the fact that his henchmen are now a Dog-Man and a Mermaid. The best part about all of it is that Shredder in this world is obsessed with destroying Splinter and the Turtles are just an obstacle in his way. As opposed to the OT where he was so myopic that he only ever seemed to care about destroying the turtles after the first season. Oh and Shredder's "My patience is wearing thin line," while a fairly well known and used phrase totally hit my nostalgia button and I almost expected him to say that he would be banishing Baxter to a Time Warp from which he would never return.

All of that was within the first few minutes. They packed so much into the episode and it didn't feel busy at all. Seemlessly they went from that to the story of the Kraang trying to trackdown April using the Worldwide Genome Project. The introduction of Mrs. Campbell was fairly excellent, but after all the build up it is a bit of a shame that Elvira only showed up for such a bit role I was hoping for a little bit more. Though it is forgiven, by the fact that Donatello finally used his Naginata in a battle and Raph's clearly new catchphrase of "Sewer Bunnies"

The final fight was great and I love how even though Raph and Leo have a fairly antagonistic relationship that Raphael was so protecting of his brother when he saw that he was love blind in regards to Karai. Though as great as Raph's quips to and about Karai were I still think in the battle of the snark Karai was the clear winner with her line of "I like your brother Leo, he's almost as entertaining as you." Since it not only insults Raphael, but also shows that Karai is clearly aware of the fact that Leonardo has feelings for her.

Then after all of that greatness we get introduced to Justin, though for teh remainder of the post I will be using Raph's name of Octopunk, cause it just felt more Ninja Turtle Villiany. Octopunk was definitely an avatar of the one of mutant monster of the week that the OT did so well. In fact in some ways he really reminded me of the sea anemones that Captain Filch had as henchmen in Raphael Meets His Match. I especially like that even though he was a mish-mash he was actually a formidable foe for the green machine to face. He definitely got away alive and I hope that he features in some way in a future episode, but even if he doesn't he will make one hell of a boss fight in the eventual video game. Octopunk also serves as a kind of precursor in my mind as to how Tragg will be created by the Kraang, as they are clearly ramping up their mutagenic experiments and getting better at speaking english... cleary Rosetta Stone works for them.

The last scene though was the best, I figured that having already working robotic tech would be the key to Fishface rising from the deep and being able to strike against the Turtles once more. The fact that that truly seemed to be Karai's goal in finding out more about the Kraang in this episode proves that she is truly an intelligent adversary. Even though I'm still upset about he being Shredder's daughter, I am glad that they are sticking more to the original character portrayal from the Mirage Comics and making her a strong and independent woman instead of just mindlessly loyal to the Shredder.

All in all a strong strong showing that continues the trend of the second half of the season continuing to push the envelope. I only hope that within the next few weeks we get to see Xever take his revenge of the Turtles.

I don't think enough people are mentioning how well written Karai's dialogue was. She's not just speaking generic monotone, "I am evil, you guys are good, we can't be friends," type of lines, its actually really well done and witty.

The bland empty environments are getting more and more boring. The school may have been after hours but just April there and the robot came off as lazy. With a show like clone wars with dozens of characters on the screen at once, this show can sometimes come off as archaic. Karai's design isn't growing on me either. That joke made me laugh when he was just about to hug April, and then in the last second discovered she weren't open for a huge, so he ended up ruffling her hair instead. That is so awkward yet adorable.


I tried to put my finger on why I like Karai so much, she seems to fall into the same category of. "oh look at me, strong, independent woman." which is honestly the stock woman of any action series or action movie, and yet she stands out, and I found two reasons why now.

1; her introduction as strong independent is actually followed up by her actions! not only does the framing treats her as strong and indepdendent, but she does stuff! she fights, she questions things on her own, even when other people don't do it. I really loved that bit when she actually really questioned all the weird stuff, it made her seem very very smart, and a very viable member.

2; God dammit I love how upfront she is with every-thing. The show is not just talking about how up-front she is, she just is upfront, not tipping about the subject with Karai, she just say things as they are.

"Vendetta this, vendetta that."
"And you are against that right?"
"No, I am fine with it, just saying he needs a hobbie."

"We can't trust her!"
"Yes we can, there is good in her!"
"No you can't and no there isn't." ... not even trying to convince him of any-thing at all, she just says it.

That whole. "There's good in her." is entirely Leos own interpretation based on what he saw.
She never actually gave him a reason to think that, she never asked for the benefit of doubt, she never attempted to manipulate him, and it doesn't seem like she is gonna.

All though that seems to make Splinters whole speech about. "A ninjas greatest weapon is deception." sort of pointless, cause she wasn't even trying to decieve him, she put no efford into that, just said. "Yeah I am evil." Leo decieved himself.
That whole point about. "You want to leave the footclan, and I can help you." that was pure wish thinking, she never ever said any-thing remotely like that.

And yet I understand the crush, I do see a mutual reaction.
Maybe Karai will in a later episode react stronger to Leo because he was the first one to believe more in her, or just like her, or some-thing like that.

And yeah, yeah. The Shredder absolutely made up his own version of Teng-shens dead to tell Karai, it goes some-thing like this.

"I was married to your mother Teng-shen and had you, then Hamato Yoshi in burning jalousie came to our house and killed your mother, I barely managed to escape the flames myself."

That's gonna be confusing for Karai when she hears the other version of the story, and if there is some-thing we learned about this character now, it is that she thinks and considers every-thing.
She is going to learn the other story eventually, and will have to consider both versions of it.. it's going to be so confusing.

Ok, so this episode started off okay, but the end fell a bit flat for me ie. another mutant (didn't it explode or something at the end?). My favorite part: the good ol' butting of heads between Raph and Leo. Least favorite: the feeling of a lack of progression in the kraang story line. Funniest part: Mikey's face when he heard the kitten in the machine. And I agree that Raph using the word hot is weird, I'm not disagreeing with the sentiments, it's just odd he phrased it like that.

This was a fun episode in terms of Leo getting into a compromising position with his brothers and Karai. I was seriously hoping to see Leo get more of a smackdown from Splinter for fraternizing with the DAUGHTER of his most hated enemy. :evilgrin:

And the Kraang going after April in terms of the Genome project just further cements my theory that April is not a 'normal' human... what's not to say that her Genome project report won't be found with the results 'Genetic makeup unidentifiable'.

This show is not just a good cartoon. It's good freaking TV in general. The writing was on the ball, this week. Every single joke got a chuckle out of me at the minimum, and call me crazy and wrong, but the team dynamic has never been this good in TMNT. I really, really like those turtles, and I simply cannot wait to see more of them. And I just love the constant growth of their personalities that doesn't go away when the next episode comes over.

Leonardo still understands the need of being a leader but his "obsession" with Karai is staying. Raph doesn't question Leo's leadership, but still gives him lip over his poor choices. This is just great. And Donnie and Michelangelo just make for a great duo. I usually dislike the "brain and the dummy" dynamic that tends to be overused in toons, but here they took the concept and hit a homerun. It just makes freaking sense. And their dialogues are incredibly sharp.

I was awestuck by seeing Karai again. I hope she's a permanent fixture. I've taken a great liking to her design and her moves are just stylish as heck. I got the feeling, seeing her going at it with Raph, that she's been holding back with Leo. And last week I wanted her to join in against Snakeweed, and this week I got my wish! She destroyed Kraang mooks something fierce.

Talking about the Kraang, I really loved the Ms. Campbell bot. Her elbow rockets, her creepy spider walk, the glowing red eyes, I want a freaking figure of her. Same goes for the awesome Justin. What a freaking thing, hahaha. I lost my **** at it's "meow"! Leo's finisher on it, was too badass for words. Raph is getting competition for his Snakeweed fatality.

When I first heard that the show would be CG, I was terribly disappointed and actually hated the look at first. But if one episode could prove any naysayer wrong, this is it. It was fast, furious and fluid as all hell. This show is beautiful. There I said it.

I am in awe dammit. What a great series. I couldn't have returned to TMNT in a better place.

I think it was an awesome episode, I am really loving the whole Leo and Karai thing. I think karai likes him, but is pushing him away because she knows the relationship is dangerous for both of them. Her design is growing on me as well.

But then on the other hand, he has all-ready met the turtles and seen his two henchmen being turned into mutants as well, so his reaction to see Splinter in rat form might be more cold than we could hope for.

All though, seeing Shredder just a little stunned would be nice and then come with some kind of comment. "You look way better than I remember Yoshi." or some-thing like that that sounds cooler than I write.

Any-way, I have found another reason why I like Karai so much.

I've always said, I love it when a character looks like he or she is really enjoying him or her self.
Whether it's a villain or hero, I don't care, I just love it when the character enjoys what he or she does, enjoys itself fully.

Karai enjoys herself! she enjoys being a ninja, she enjoys fighting, she enjoys flirting around, she enjoys all of what is happened.
That is brilliant, I love that!
She is just enjoying every-thing around her, I could just imagine her facing up to a ninja master much stronger than her, and smile, because she genuinly is enjoying herself.

Little things in the episode had me smiling. Mikey making faces as they cross the roof tops. Raph saying 'oh sewer bunnies." Donnie and Mikey wandering what Raph and Leo are hiding from them. Raph destroying the metal detector, Mikey scaring Raph with the robots face.
I also liked the part where Mikey hugs Leo and his face gets squished. And the way that thing moved, was just freaky. (Robot) And the scream. :lol:

Brilliant episode. Jam packed, without feeling rushed. Byerly is pretty slick.

I can't get over how much I love this Leo... probably because I hate every other Leonardo lol (save for Brian Tochi's version, and sometimes Mirage). And for being a Leo focused episode, Raph had some awesome character moments. You could tell he wanted to trust Leo, but knew he was totally being a sucker.

I'm not sure what everyone's talking about as far as upgraded animation goes, it looked as good as always. Although, I noticed that Shredder's helmet now flaps around from his temples down, whereas it used to be rigid. I found that kind of distracting.

As cool as Justin was, I was expecting a bunch of different mutants to come out instead of one combined freak. And speaking of mutants, I can tell Baxter's gonna turn into a fly the first chance the writers get.

Just a quick rundown, Elvira was a character portrayed by Casandra Peterson the voice of Ms. Campbell. She's basically horror hostess (specializing in campy horror/sci-fi films of the 50's, 60's, 70's and early 80's Think Roger Corman films, Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman, Attack of the Puppet People, Village of the Giants, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, The Blob). She was very popular in the 80's and became an icon like Pee-wee Herman, Freddy Krueger, Ed Grimly etc.. She has a TV show in the 80's called Elvira's Movie Macabre which lasted about 5 seasons.

She basically hosted B films and made fun of them.

She was in two movies: Elvira Mistress of the Dark and Elvira's Haunted Hills.

^ Pretty much this. While I have always liked Leo in the other past versions of TMNT, the one problem I had with him (As well as Donnie) was that I couldn't really relate to them as well as Mikey and Raph. But I think the Nick crew has really hit the mark, where others have missed, in terms of their personalities.

This. Sure this episode felt a little more animated/cartoony even for this cartoony.

Like that world wide genome project the Kraang created to get to April(wanted it to be called TCRI but I just found out that [SPOILER]there is episode dedicated to that[/ SPOILER] so I'm happy about it

I wonder why they didn't do an end scene of Master Splinter wondering if Karai might be her supposedly "dead" daughter who Shredder possibly could have kidnapped but maybe we'll get an episode devoted to that.

Leo is kindof realized how bad Karai is so I honesty can't wait to see how the next meeting might be.

This episode had a lot of good moments(especially Donnie and Mikey moments) and had alot of good quotes

We finally get to see April's high school and a female Kraang/Utrom and how powerful the Utroms are getting interesting and leading to the eventual alliance with the Kraang/Utroms.

I really loved this episode. It was my favorite so far. Just because the plot was very layered. The situation with Raph and Leo, Karai and Shredder, the Krang's plot deepening...I just thought it was awesome.

Fantastic episode... After the opening when Leonardo was showing off for Karai..

Though as great as Raph's quips to and about Karai were I still think in the battle of the snark Karai was the clear winner with her line of "I like your brother Leo, he's almost as entertaining as you." Since it not only insults Raphael, but also shows that Karai is clearly aware of the fact that Leonardo has feelings for her.

No you are right, they are. That is a neat detail.

Except, until you brought that little factor up, I honestly thought Splinters eyes had changed colour alongside his transformation since it looked to me like he had fully black eyes in all the flash-backs and photographs.

How-ever, I am a big fan of the ida that when people transforms their eyes remain intact, because the eyes is the gate-way to the soul. (shush, that's what my granma always said.)
It obviously doesn't really work like that in this series since Dogpound, fish-face, snakeweed and Spidereyes all ended up with different eyes upon transformation. But it would still be a nice touch if Splinter didn't, and we see the two sharring a shot where it becomes more obvious that they have the same eye colour.

Well... in those pictures Karai is standing straight in the light while Splinter stands more in the shadows, so it's only natural that Karais eyes looks a little lighter when she stands in that light.

Again, I wouldn't say any-thing before I see a scene where they actually stand face to face and we can compare their eyes a little more. I though this splinter had kind of orangy, amber eyes, which honestly looks kind of cool. And yeah, Karai has the same thing going on.

Exactly, he's gonna make Xever be able to control his legs with his mind as if they were his own, similar to how The Kraang are able to control their robot bodies with just their thoughts instead of pushing buttons and such. It's not that hard to figure out.

The main thing I liked about it was when Raph discovered Karai and pinned her down for a quick second. Did anyone else think at that moment that in the future, Karai could get under Leo's skin and say that she's "interested" in Raph? Seeing as she is a rebel and Raph is the rebel of the four turtles, I think that's an interesting situation that they could play with.

I did! And she pretty much did say that when she said, "I like your brother, Leo. He's almost as interesting as you." I personally love this idea.

Though I doubt we could see it develop too much in the show, then again, I have been pleasantly surprised with other shows, ie. Legend of Korra where relationship drama unfolds.

One does not rule out other. One thing that puzzles me is if Kraang use thoughts where did Karai get that control unit from as per that Kraang should have no need for such?

Just watched it. It was alright. Those marks Karai paints on her lids remind me of the scar over Ch'Rell's eye.

I agree. It wasn't great. I was expecting more from this episode. I didn't know it was going to be "New Girl in Town, Part 2." Still, it was fun for what it was.

It's nice to see that this series treats continuity more serious than OT.

Karai was awesome and Karai x Leo is quite cute. And now it's obvious that Shredder will be using Kraang technology.

Though, I didn't like that Shredder was overly concentrated on his revenge. I hoped this version would have more personality than his 2k3 counterpart, which was extremely one-dimensional, but this one seems to be much of the same.
