Awesome, 3 down...only 7 more to go.

I think this could very well be the first TMNT cartoon to hit the milestone 200 episode barrier. Hopefully it'll get renewed for another 7 seasons.

I think anyone who's not crazy would rather have a 3 or 4 season long show that's awesome than one that's 10 seasons and overstayed its welcome.

What if its consistently awesome for 10 seasons though? If they can keep up the current writing and improve the CG and add more characters and more complex stories, it can go on for as long as they like.

That is... stupid. There's barely halfway through season 1. What if kids lose interest in TMNT during season 2?

I'm not saying the show will be an absolute failure - I'm sure it'll continue to be super popular. I just think it's dumb to obligate yourself to chuck out two more seasons of a TV show without even being done with the first.

ToTheNines

They'll want an animated companion for the upcoming movie anyways.

Verdict: not stupid.

You do realize the 4kids series was constantly renewed 2 seasons ahead of whatever was airing, right?

This is why when Season 3 was written they knew it wasn't the end, because they knew they were getting a Season 5. When Season 4 was airing they were already working on Fast Forward, hence it being ready to air a year before it was supposed to.

The 4kids series was constantly renewed 2 seasons ahead of whatever was airing, same with Nick.

I dont think that anyone is suprised with this news. 1987 show had 10 seasons and 2003 had 7 seasons. It is normal for the nick show to have at least 7 seasons if not ten. And it is already a lot more popular than the 2003 show was when first season 1 ended .

It does seem a little overboard to greenlight a third season this early in when we haven't even finished airing all of season one yet - but that's just the nature of the business, so far as I can tell. And it also tells us that the whole shebang must be doing pretty well for Nick if they already want to have more ready to go, wouldn't you think? So I'm ecstatic at this news.

Verdict: not stupid.A third season takes them to 2015. Surely they want TMNT that long. And hopefully, the movie show will give the show a ratings boost. The IDW series, too.

EDIT:
What you all need to do, is go back to the beginning of that thread, and see how friggin' thrilled Michael Bay fans are about Megan Fox.

I bet all the Bruce Timm and Greg Weisman fans are bitter. (For the record, I am a huge DC and Marvel cartoon fan, and I know how they feel).

As I said, each TMNT cartoon makes a bare minimum of 150 episodes and I expect the Nick show to be the same. We are NOT DC and Marvel with their short lived 26-65 episode series.

The 3 seasons minimum was planned from the start. One of the old events back in 2012 said, "new episodes committed through 2015" which is 3 seasons.

They'll probably look at ratings and toy sales from the rest of Season 1 and 2 before deciding a Season 4 and above though.

I suspect the decision for a Season 4 renewal were weigh on the impact of the Bay movie, since this will likely be this generation's biggest media moment in terms of drawing in the general audience along with promoting toy sales. I don't know of a cartoon which got cancelled because of a box office bomb in associated with the franchise with the possible exception of Transformers G1 even though that was in the same continuity as the series, so let's enjoy this news. The only question is if it will be a 13 or 26 episode season, since 13 gives it the standard 65 episodes and typically Nick likes to air lots of reruns by the third season of a show (if they already are doing so far). But most importantly, this wouldn't be possible without the support of us fans for enjoying the show. :trazz:

Great news they are indeed! :D

Every single episode has been a joy to watch. I'd love to run a marathon of all the episodes shown so far, because they're really great.

I'm hyped for the news of a Season 3. Dang... can't wait for Season 2, can't wait to see what Casey Jones looks like! (Probably like a juvenile delinquent, lol, but I think they could pull it off well enough)

Karai's introduction turned out MUCH better than I expected. Love that whole anarchy-goth personality they gave her. Works well, for a teen Karai.
A good break from the uptighter 2k3/2k7 version (though I loved every episode with her in it).

It was fine the first few seasons, but after the shows creator left, and now that it's on season 50 practically it's become like that relative who visits and just never leaves no matter how many hints you give their annoying ass.

I feel like I say this every week ... but no. That is not how networks work. They don't hope that a show is successful so that they can replace another one of their successful shows. They want as many popular shows as they can get, so SpongeBob (which is still their #1 by a huge margin, by the way) is not going anywhere. Sorry.

PS: You can't "plan" success. Nick has certainly tried to do so with TMNT, and have given it a solid foundation, but ultimately it's up to kids to tune in or not.

Yes I do. But what does that have to do with what I just said? :tconfuse:

They invested a lot of money and so far it's paying off and the show is doing well (first new Nick show that hasn't flopped in a long time) but that doesn't mean they want to cancel other shows as a result. As long as a show is successful, they will keep it going. This applies to both TMNT and SpongeBob. They are not rivals. The better SpongeBob does the better it is for TMNT since SpongeBob is often TMNT's lead-in.

I didn't say that they would cancel Spongebob, I said that they need a new show that would get a lot of ratings. They know TMNT is popular so they try that(and Power Rangers and Digimon). To me it's like a rebirth of the network.

I wonder if they renew the show on 2 seasons ahead similar to Simpsons which has the voice actors sign a 2 year contract.

That means when we get halfway into Season 2 we might hear if we're getting a Season 4 and 5.

I don't doubt we will but I think it will happen this way.

This is great news, means my little guys will grow up with Turtles, lol. I wasn't surprised at this, but my only concern is if the voice actors have signed on for the duration of the series. Usually when the voices change is when the series starts to loose interest. I'm hoping for a long series with Original Voice Actors.

Just want to add my two cents about Nick... I think they planned the success of TMNT. To say that any company doesn't plan for success just doesn't make sense to me. Nick obviously would like TMNT to out due Sponge Bob, as what company wouldn't want to ADD more prime time hit shows to their line up. With the success of TMNT, it doesn't mean SB will be cancelled once TMNT receives more viewers, as who in their right mind cancels something that is still successful. SB will be around, just like TMNT, until viewers tune out. It looks like both will be around for a while yet.
