How many times is michaelangelo referred to as MIKEY in the OLD TMNT

I've seen every episode so many times i believe it was only once!

In the usagi yojimbo episode

Donny says

"Um forget it mikey..."

Funny isn't it all the times he goes by mikey in the movies newer toons and only ONCE in the old tmnt.

can anyone prove me wrong i'd actually be intersted in knowing when else he is referred to as mikey.

I think you are right.. In fact I think that's the only time any turtle was referred by a nickname but I could be wrong. Did the '87 Turtles shorten each other's names in Turtles Forever? Been awhile since I've seen it.

Donatello also calls Michaelangelo "Mike" in "What's Michaelangelo Good For?"

They probably didn't shorten their names because they wanted kids to grow accustomed to their full names.

I do think it is kinda weird looking back at it now though.

I'm sure this has been said before, but I grew up saying Raph E L because that's how the OT said it. Once I got older and could read better I said it Raph I L.

Can it go either way correctly or is one the correct pronunciation?

Not that I remember...but they did respond to the shortened names, when the 4Kids Turtles talked to each other.

That's not true. They use the full names in other universes, but not nearly as frequently.

The point was that the full names are used primarily. Of course their full names are going to get used here and there in all universes. Because they're their names. By your logic no one would ever call me Rosemary because sometimes people call me Rose.

Raph E L was only don by Donatello (even in Turtles Forever) and April in the first couple seasons, Raph A L was done by Raph himself and Michelangelo, and Raph I L was done by Leonardo, Splinter, and April from season 3 onwards. In most other franchises, the Raph I L pronounciation prevails, though for Nick's Donnie, its still Raph A L when not shortened. I guess the shortened attentioned spans of the times could also contribute to the Nicknames. That's one reason why I like the OT with all of the various accents that includes pronunciations. And in Turtles Forever, the 1988 Turtles use full names.

I never noticed that about OT Raph and Nick's Don. Rob Paulsen as well as the other voice actors just have their own ways of pronouncing that name it seems lol.
I wonder if the voice directors have ever attempted correcting them or just let it slide for whatever reason.
