View Full Version : Some Interesting News On New Movie
This is funny. It was hidden in the Deadline Hollywood article when they broke the news that the release has been pushed to June 2014. Here's the article:
Paramount said that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, originally scheduled for wide release on May 16, 2014, will now open three weeks later, on June 6. For now, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has the date to itself. It opens a week before Jurassic Park 4 (3D). Producer Michael Bay announced last week on his blog that Megan Fox would star in the live action/CGI feature. Jonathan Liebesman is directing. The current draft is being written by Evan Daugherty.
The interesting bit is in bold. So a new writer has come on board? That was never announced. I wondered whether Deadline Hollywood could have just made a mistake, but they know their stuff. Would be a pretty random (and silly) mistake to make. For anyone who doesn't know, Evan Daugherty wrote Snow White & the Huntsman. So he's now putting his stamp on the script. It’s obviously changed from the leaked version. Question is, how much?

Hopefully [it changes] enough that fans will stop complaining before they know anything. I didn't see SW and the Huntsman, but I hear Thor stars in it.

That's a relief in theory at least because it means he's probably not going to use that leaked script's bad ideas much if at all. Unless some things are mandated by the director or producer.
There may be hope yet albeit not much.

If true that is interesting.
So this is what the sixth writer to work on this film? I'm just glad the guys behind the god-awful alien draft aren't working on the film anymore.

This movie is inching closer and closer to the forgotten realm of production Hell.

A new draft one month before they start shooting? Sounds like a good sign.

Maybe they should just sit on it for a while until someone with vision comes along and can make a good movie.

I just find it bizarre that these guys can't figure out how to make a decent TMNT movie.

Well, maybe they should hire YOU to write it....

So now we can start complaining about how much Snow White and the Huntsman sucked?
It really did. But I'll take any writer that didn't write the leaked script. Good deal.

I'm actually planning (I hope my liking of Chris Hemsworth outweighs my loathing of Kristen Stewart) on watching it just to see how, "Meh..." it is.

Don't joke, at this rate they might do, then we would all be ****ed.
SW and the Huntsman wasn't totally bad, but it wasn't brilliant either.
Also they could do worse that cast Mr 'I need a horse' Hemsworth!

Hmm, interesting news. I never saw SW and the Huntsmen because it didn't appeal to me. But maybe Evan will surprise us with this movie.

this is reeeeaaaally good news to me. i really liked snow white and the huntsman. it was well paced, the drama was good and fitting for the type of movie it was and it was just an over-all solid action-adventure fun film. the kinda thing i would hope the tmnt to be...at least (and especially) after the stupid schraeder, casey-centric alien script.
i mean, you can complain about the acting or casting in snow white if you want, but the screenplay was good and since thats what we're talking about here, thats all that should really affect any conclusions drawn. (plus, i didnt mind any of the casting in snow white...)
I don’t think we should get too excited just yet. It just says the latest draft is being penned by him. Because it was such an integral plot-point in the leaked script, the alien angle is probably still in there in some capacity. I just don't think the basic plot would have changed all that much. However, I could be wrong. Maybe it has been changed heavily after all.

Michael Bay's already responded to the backlash without seeming to care...

Why should he care? Fans are never gonna be happy anyway.Well, he didn't just not care. He was pretty condescending about it. He seems confident in that interpretation of the script, regardless of the internet uproar.

From what I remember, it was the same situation with Transformers and he got what he wanted out of those.

To be honest if I was Michael Bay I'd troll the hell outta people too. So I dunno. Haven't seen Snow White and the Huntsmen, but I might in the near future just to see what kinda writer he is.
But yes Production Hell seems to be on the horizon...

Bay have lied about his movies before, he did go about and state that Megtron would not be in Revenge of the Fallen.
It's all about the PR and invoking interest, either be raging fans or intrigued fans.

Snow White wasn't that bad, but it wasn't memorable to say the least. Jonathan Liebesman too...:ohwell:
