I liked the movie "TMNT" from 2007, but I was wondering one thing: Should Shredder have returned in that film? He only appeared as a picture. I think it would've been better had they had Shredder be a secondary villain who teamed up with The Generals, sort of like Megatron in 2 out of the 3 Transformers films.

Maybe after Raph didn't finish off Leo in that rooftop battle, Shredder could show up, fight Leo, and defeat him. Then they find out that he is working with the Generals. Then, in the final battle, Shredder could betray the Generals and take charge of unleashing the monsters through the portal.

I still am working on it, but how do you like that so far?

No. The 2007 movie, as I was made to believe, was following the timeline of the first three films (roughly). Shredder's dead and gone by then, and it would've been pointless to bring him back. Karai and the Foot, on the other hand, could have taken more of a lead as the big villains, instead of being merely mercenaries and hired guns for Winters. Squandered opportunity, there.

Shredder has become the default villain for so long, and relying on him to be the main antagonist in every incarnation and film doesn't leave much room for creating other compelling villains.

:-?

Are you...working on a fanfic/fan script to address this issue?

No. I just thought of the idea, but I didn't get that far.

I agree with Kunoichi. That cast was cramped to hell & back as it was.

Only if the the whole plot of the movie was different, and dealt with Karai trying to resurrect him.

Agreed, as cool as a cgi 2007 shredder would of been, my favorite thing about that movie is that its part of the trilogy time line.Still too bad they never made that sequel with the hinted return of the shredder.

For what it's worth, I like the movie. Should Shredder have been in it? Yeah, but only if the plot would have been entirely different and not supposed to be apart of the trilogy.

The movie might have been more successful if Shredder was in it but it had to follow the timeline of the movies.

There was a ton that was dead wrong with TMNT Part 4... but a lack of Shredder wasn't one of the factors.

Having him in it probably would have made it sell more tickets, but objectively, no. Shredder's dead--though he died in a pretty stupid way--and I would prefer to finally have at least one adaptation of this series that doesn't promote him to arch nemesis. Surely if the Batman movies can get away with different villains every film, this series could do it. That said, I wasn't a fan of the actual villain in that movie, the franchise has better.

Probably half the reason I like the movie is because it dared to actually do something the hell other the "Shredder has returned, again, again". Especially since it was during the 2003 series which had serious-ass Shredder returning problems.

Maybe if Karai was catching monsters... or whatever... to do some... thing that would resurrect Shredder and he almost comes back but the process is reversed at the last second. That wouldn't have been any better or worse than what we got.

I still don't believe the movie is an actual sequel to the original trilogy, it just doesn't really work..

It still acknowledged that Shredder was dead so either way he'd have to come back to life.

Nope. Shredder was better off not being a part of it anyway.

Except for the fact that it has a scene that is pretty much a tribute to the other 3 movies?

And no Shredder had no place in the TMNT 4 movie. This is coming from a guy who favorite Turtle character is Shredder. I even went to my last Expo in a duct tape Shredder costume. The movie had more then enough going on then to Cram more into it.

The movie has many tributes to the comics as well (and is the most faithful to them), but it doesn't make it part of the comics timeline either.

I agree with those who don't consider it to be part of the movie trilogy. It's a standalone movie that can (but doesn't necessarily have to) work with other timelines, and that's part of what makes it great.

There was clearly ment to be a sequel ( they even released a shredder figure a year later under the films package!) but it never happend, but having karai was a nice change though.

Do the only comics you know are the prequel comics specifically related to the movie?

Well for what the plot was it was fine the way it was with the cameo at the beginning and Karai's warning about his return at the end. I do feel that the Foot Elite should have appeared as the new breed in addition to regular Foot Soldiers instead of all these "how many of these monsters I can name" thingies. TMNT was basically Season 4 of 4kids meets Season 4 non-Shredder episodes of the OT (mad scientist, portal).

We had Shredder for 2 movies so I'm fine with exploring new characters.
Although this movie visually looked amazing, the villains were not the best we could have seen the Turtles go against but it served well to deliver the moral message of the movie in that family is important, whoever its with.
It was far better than the nameless, forgettable Japanese warriors from the 3rd film.

My upset comes from the idea we will probably never see a TMNT 2 follow up while the new Nick cartoon is current and Michael Bay is seemingly wiping his large-scale-apocalyptic-butt with our comics to release his vision.
