View Full Version : This Master Splinter is the best so far.
The Nick version has more depth to him than he ever has before. His physical stature.. His personal relationship with the turtles.. everything about him is right on the money for what a mentor/father figure of his type should be. I feel like a lot of thought was put into him and it shows.

He's definitely my favorite Splinter XD plus he's taller!!!

I think this is actually a very important detail that they improved on.

I like this Splinter, too. He's got more depth to his backstory, and I love his wise words to the Turtles. Yes, he's taller which gives him even more of a fatherly vibe. 4Kids Splinter was too short, but he could still kick tail when he needed to.

I prefer a shorter Splinter. I thought the 2007 TMNT was the best Splinter.

Actually, Nick's Splinter is my least favorite version.

This is a big (pun intended) reason why.

I really like Splinter to be shorter. Kinda reminds me of Yoda.
This is my favorite version of Splinter to date. He's wise, funny, and a very skilled fighter(Leatherhead can vouch for that!).

I kinda like Nick's Splinter but I still prefer 2k3's. I mean design wise aside, I like how they made him enjoy soap operas (an odd quirk but I got a kick out of it ) and fight more often.

Don't get me wrong, I love this version of Splinter, but he is actually supposed to be based on yoda, an old wise feeble guardian, who guides them from the sidelines. This Splinter seems young and as tho he should go out on missions with them.

Well, he is different.
All of the Splinters are different, does that make him the best? I dunno, all we can have are our personal favourites.
But.. yeah he has become my personal favourite.
He does seem to have more depth, his relation to the turtles seems a bit more genuine... and I find this Splinter to be the funniest.
I don't know if it's because he has better lines than the others, or if it because of the voice-acting. But some-how he amuses me a lot more.
This Splinter is kind of a troll towards the turtles some-times, and I find that funny, the turtles have it coming when he put them down a peck, as he does quite frequently in this show.
And yet he is still very understanding, he listens to the turtles and take them seriously, gives them advice, it's very nice.
all though.. I do think that "More depth." is some-thing that applies to almost all main characters in this new show.
They all have a little more depth than in previous incarnations. The turtles, Shredder, Shredders henchmen... Karai.
That's just how this show rules, it had decided to empathise much more on character than any previous show, and thus a little less on big events.
Which one you prefer is up to you.. I do prefer this though, I love it just as it is.

His dialog is great, but I really do think the majority of the credit for Nick's Splinter goes to the voice actor. He is amazing!

I like how this version of Splinter is kind of a smartass who sometimes trolls his sons, but my favorite Splinter will always be a tie between OT and movie Splinters. Those are the ones I grew up with. And I may be one of the few who loves the original Splinter figure. I've seen a lot of people badmouthing it.

Agreed, and I think that's why I like it - and this version of Splinter - so much. I love the emphasis on the characters, and I think the way they wrote Splinter for this series fits in perfectly with that.
Saying that, though, I also feel that the other versions I'm familiar with also fit in with their respective series (I'm trying to picture OT's Splinter doing the "Cur Ly" maneuver to Nick's Shredder, lol), so while it's possible this is my favorite Splinter, I think a big part of that would be due to the show as a whole and how he fits into it. I can't say for sure he's my favorite as I do love the OT and movie versions as well, but I think they did a really great job with him.

Nick's Splinter is currently my favorite as well... I know the show is holding up Splinter's showdown with Shredder and all, but I wish, like April, he gets more spotlight.
It kinda defeats the purpose of him being the youngest adaptation when he never leaves the Lair.

I completely agree with this comment.
I feel like Nick is actually detracting from his character by having this very powerful Ninja that always sends his 15 year old sons out to fight but never lifts a hand (paw? *laughs) to help them.

Definitely the best Splinter imo. :D
He's so tall, I got goosebumps the first time he appeared on the first episode.

Silly question time, is this the first time Splinter's been voiced by an Asian actor?

Oh, yeah. How could I forget Mako? Forgetting TMNT is understandable, but Mako is to awesome to forget.

I do remember reading that there is a reason he doesn't go fight with them that's going to be revealed at some point.
