View Full Version : Name some TMNT characters you never want to see again

Think about any character(s) from any incarnation on TMNT you either don't like or plain HATE that you wish to never be seen or mentioned again. There's TONS of 'em out there

"There are no bad characters, just bad writing."

That said I think most would be fine with no mention of Venus ever again in a TMNT series, but who knows, if she was tackled right maybe someone out there could find a way to squeeze her into a story & be likeable. Vibe is probably the lamest & most despised character in the entire DCU, yet for some reason DC has chosen to make one of their 52 ongoing series about him. Do the majority of people want Venus to return? Absolutely not, but stranger things have happened.

There is a still active thread over in the comic section. While it is directed mainly towards IDW it has evolved into he property in general. :

I'm sure it's redundant to list Venus, but I'm also not crazy about Mona Lisa or Ninjara either and would be all too happy if I never had to see them in any version of TMNT again. I know those two (especially Ninjara) are quite a bit more accepted than Venus, but all three tend to piss me off pretty much all equally. I'm a bit more chill with Alopex, but it's probably because she's an enemy rather than an ally (if this has changed I have yet to read that far).

I could also do without Ch'rel, the Ninja Tribunal, Wingnut, Screwloose, the Neutrinos and Shadow Jones. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones I can easily think off the top of my head.

Depends how they're used. I can't say any character would be that horrible aside from Venus.

Silver Sentry and the rest of those superheroes from 4kids show.

Every episode that had one of them was a major yawnfest.

4Kids Turtles was a great show, but I skipped every single episode with Silver Sentry in it. I don't recall him having any sort of backstory as who the heck he was, or how he or his "Justice League" got their superpowers..

They made no sense to me. The only chapter I sort of enjoyed with them was where Mikey was obsessed with being a superhero as the Turtle Titan. :D

Other than them I don't think I dislike any other character. Not even Venus that much, as having her in the Nick show would be ... interesting in one way or another. But having Silver Sentry in the Nick show would completely turn me off of it.

They're bad characters but we don't expect to see them again anyway.

It's like listing all those one shot mad scientists from the OT.

That brings up an interesting point, we saw human Be-bop & Rocksteady at the end the Raph micro-series, along with a foot ninja we assumed was Shredder, which it turns out actually wasn't.

Alopex as far as we know was a Fox that was mutated into a humanoid Fox. Hob, Splinter, Slash, and all 4 of the Turtles were all ordinary animals first, who were exposed to the mutagen & became humanoid mutants. We haven't seen any humans mutated to animal traited humanoid mutants, and really I'd like to keep it that way. I often wondered why Shredder didn't just mutate the Warthog & Rhino he stole from the Zoo in the OT, just think how much more effective they could have been if they woulda been animals with instincts that were mutated, instead of brainless goons.

With Bebop & Rocksteady as humans already shown, odds are we'll get them mutated into their more familiar selves shortly, but I'd actually rather IDW tweaks their origins a bit & mutated a Warthog & Rhino instead of exposing some street thugs to the mutagen & having them take on animal physical traits.

Don't forget about HUN turning into a monster Turtle in Turtles Forever. And that only made him a bit deadlier I think.

Good point about the Human2Mutant transition. I guess there's a reason why OT Splinter kinda sucks... (But then again, Nick Show Spliter rocks socks... He even took down LEATHEHEAD!)

I sincerely doubt it. Instead of Krang we will have Kraang Prime. Instead of Bebop and Rocksteady we already have Chris and Xever. I doubt Shredder will fire them any time soon, especially with how long it took Xever to finally get back into action.

In my post I was specifically just talking about the IDW comic, in which case all of the mutants have been animal first, not human.

Those are the only characters I find un-salvageable in their very concepts.

There were a lot of terrible one-shot characters in Mirage, original toon, and 4kids I have no desire to see again, and given their obscurity and unpopularity....we probably won't see them.

People don't actually realize how many throwaway characters there are in the TMNT universe. That's why people only tend to remember the big ones, or the ones who stood out in some way.

I'd say have her be like Trunks from DBZ- a gen 2 turtle who comes in for an episode or arc then goes back from when she came.

Aren't the turtles supposed to be the LAST of their kind, who would they breed with, why would they breed?

I wouldn't mind seeing them again, but I never had any attachment to them. Always felt we should have seen Napoleon Bonafrog in the Mutanimals instead of one of them.

Yea, we could've done without Jagwar. He was like the poster boy for the whole "Save the Earth" motif of the Mutanimals. Dreadmon was definitly the more likable of the two.

I kinda prefer Genghis Frog myself, though I really love seeing both him and Napoleon together in "Dirk Savage: Mutant Hunter". Frankly I think we really only needed those two frogs. The only point for having four in the beginning was to do a dumb "Lets have these other mutant creatures get mistaken for the TMNT." Kinda dumb now that I look back on it!

I dunno Jeph, I viewed the frogs as a parallel to the turtles. I think the device where they are mistaken for the turtles is just bad writing, an excuse to have someone chase them. I feel if you have four turtles, you must have four frogs.

The main problem with the Punk Frogs that I've now realized as a twenty seven yr old man, is that they were poorly written. They have no defining personalities and their distinguishable traits are their names, their weapons and their southern hospitality which all four frogs had.

A theory I had is that the frogs were so bland, the writers didn't know what to do so they would use them sparingly, either where Genghis came to visit or Napoleon became a monster.

I wish they were better written and utilized. I liked the frogs, or I should say, the idea of them.

who they good breed with... good question. unless it's another turtle, the child won't be a turtle anyway, it will be a turtle/whatever hybrid.

as for WHY would they....? they're teenagers... why would YOU breed?

Venus. She technically doesn't exist to me anyway.
The Neutrinos from the original cartoon also... I know they exist in basically all forms of the Turtles minus the live action movies... but they were so OBNOXIOUS in the original cartoon.
They seem better in the IDW ongoing series. They seem more war-hardened and less squeeky-childlike beings.
Umm... Winters... lol He's a done deal though, I think.

Can I say Casey's Dad without pissing off people?
I dunno... having the whole Dad backstory was, weird for me.
I dont know if it's explored in the other comics or the newer cartoons (post 80s/90s) but in the IDW ongoing, the character is brought in and is just some generic drunk bastard.
We never knew anything about Casey's past, aside from being an injured athlete, but I thought adding this in was a little odd...
But it was interesting to see what it did for Splinter and Raph.

Ummm... hmm... I'm pretty tired right now and can't think of much.
There are a couple characters I WANT to name from the new cartoon that I also feel I shouldn't name 'cus I haven't seen the cartoon...
But the Cockroach character, Fishface and Dogpound... are all designs I'm not enjoying. But I dont know anything about them and I havn't seen the show so it's purely based on design, which I'm sure many others do like lol
