The second season of TMNT will feature a one-hour special with special cameos by the original voice actors from the 1987 cartoon in their old roles, including Cam Clarke (Leonardo), Townsend Coleman (Michelangelo), Barry Gordon (Donatello) and Paulsen (Raphael).
It'll be a story point, too, that brings classic and current Turtles together.
The toy version of the oozy baddie Mutagen Man was always a favorite of Nieli's, he says. "All of us have one sitting on our desks and it's just a matter of time: 'Well, when are we going to do Mutagen Man?'
"It was just important to figure out a special way to do it so that he didn't just show up like, OK, monster of the week is Mutagen Man. We definitely wanted to have a little bit more of an investment in him as an integral character in that universe and ultimately the responsibility of the Turtles as heroes."
Mutagen Man, who plays a big role in the second season but will appear near the end of the first, had a distinctive look from the old '80s cartoon and toy, and the TMNT producers didn't want to get too wacky with a new design.

Well, I guess now we know which classic mutant that one writer was hinting at. Interesting to see Mutagen Man. Looking forward to what they do with him.
Also, another 80's Turtles/Modern Turtles team-up with the VAs on board this time?! Count me in! :D
The anticipation is killing me!!! I can't wait!!! :thyper:

Is it weird that everything that I hear about this show sounds great whereas everything I hear about the movie makes me want to be sick in my mouth.
I would have predicted that when Nick first bought the franchise.

Wow this is great news! I thought it may never be as cool as Turtles Forever but this sounds like it definitely could be. All of the original cast voicing their turtles again! Freakin' awesome! The Baxter Stockman and Mutagen Man stuff sounds neat too but the original cartoon turtles should be epic. They'll probably have a really funny moment with Original Cartoon Raph and Nick Toon Donatello! :tgrin:

2014 is ninja turtles 30th anniversary, which the second season coincides
the 80's turtles appears in season 2
my god
Season 2 will be a Ultraman Mebius/Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger anniversary
well, I'm good with that...as long as it doesn't end like Digimon Xros Hunters did...that was a terrible anniversary
at least hoping for 2003 and Prime to make cameos

The people in charge of the new show obviously have a great amount of fondness for all aspects of the TMNT, which definitely shows in the final product. I have friends - grown men in their 30s - who haven't watched anything with a Turtle in it since we were in middle school but who are huge fans of this new show. I think it's because of the love that goes into it. Much more so than ever went into the 4Kids show, I think.

No love went into the 4kids show? The series was basically Peter Laird's baby.

This is awesome news! I'm super excited to see what they come up with for the reunion. I'm interested in seeing how they plan to animate it (CG OT Turtles, 2D Nick Turtles, or...?). Briefly wondered if someone in the Nick show would have seen the Turtles and made a cartoon based off of them, but it sounds like they might actually interact with each other.

I like the Nick show but lets not get carried away here.
The show has come out at the right time were nostalgia of the property is at its peak as well as a time were vastly different versions of proprerties are more accepted and promoted by internet blog culture has boomed catering to fanboys of a certain era.
It really has little to do with how much "love" goes into the shows. Especialy as at the head of Mirage was someone who cared regardless of whether you agreed with him. Pretty sure the heads of Viacom would do whatever they feel will make them more mula.

I'm kind of interested in how the story writing is going to intersect these two universes (1987 & 2012). Or more interesting, if they can follow continuity with the 1987 Turtles storyline.
Another point, unless these 1987 Turtles are going to be shown on television (like Leo's favorite show Space Heroes), it's going to be unusual seeing how these two different forms of animation interact with each other (traditional animation vs. CGI) ...unless they are going to give the 1987 Turtles a "CGI makeover" of sorts.

I think it's because of the love that goes into it. Much more so than ever went into the 4Kids show, I think.
Uh...what?
Much more so than ever went into the 4kids show? A lot of those episodes were very much in touch with the original comic books, a lot of stories were based on those comics, there's surprising seriousness/risk like the episode "Same As It Never Was", it was a show that older people could watch, it had good action and a solid voice cast...but they didn't put much love into it?
It's your opinion and that's fine...I apologize if this seems like an attack cause that's not what I'm trying to do.
It just seems that ever since this new Nick show came out there seems to be some kind of backlash over the 2003 series which I don't understand...the 2k3 series imo is better than the Nick show in every way. But hey it's your opinion...
I think it sucks that Turtles Forever they couldn't get the original voice cast, and YET for this they Can get the original voice cast?

I don't get it either...maybe it's because for all it's mature content and storytelling, the 4Kids show remained very niche in its seven years and failed to make a really big noise. Hell the Nick show is praised for doing more childish stuff than the last two seasons of the 4Kids version combined, which I know fans here didnt appreciate...how does that work?
The 4Kids series weak point was humor in my opinion, but those last two seasons aside, it didnt lack much in any other department. It's a fine show.

I realize NOBODY is going to believe me, & I can't blame you, but last night I had a dream that there was a special where the old turtles met the new ones. I knew it was far-fetched as they've already done Turtles Forever and likely wouldn't repeat that, let alone without the OG VA's, but low & behold! I woke up and it turned out to be a reality... I'm BUGGING OUT. The idea of this alone is enough to make one accidentally crap themselves in excitement but the fact my subconscious mind tapped into this while asleep is making me flip my God damned wig...
If anyone is curious, in my dream, the OT turtles (animated in their original style, kinda like TF did) are running around the drome panicked while Krang is taking over NYC in the Technorover with an army of Rock Soldiers. He's literally wreaking havoc out there, for once, being a real serious threat. So the turtles are looking for a means of stopping him back at the drome and they come across a room with a big ass generator, it's in a sort of back-room and runs through Krangs big portal. Apparently you change the settings on it to decide what dimension/universe to pull beings through. After fiddling with it, they set it to the Nick series universe, and the little screen on it displays a live feed of Mikey running across roof tops at night trying to catch up with his brothers. This blows away OT Mikey and the gang but then Donny reminds them about the events of Turtles Forever & how there is an actual multi-verse of other turtles including these and others who they hadn't even seen at the time. Donny pulls the lever (I guess to bring them together) and that's when I woke up. Crazy stuff!
Also I'm super freakin' excited about Mutagen Man. I had a feeling he would show up after his picture was on the cover of that comic book Mikey was reading. Hell yeah. He's one of my all time favorite characters. Very cool.
All they have to do now is announce the return of Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady and I would quite literally burst into tears.I hope they don't show up then. I wouldn't want you to cry.

I think they will show up just to give the main characters someone to fight in the episode. Since Bebop and Rocksteady have the same voices as Don and Leo, its really only Shredder and Krang's VA's that need to return too.
Man I would get goosebumps if Krang meets the Kraang and leads them even if its only for this one hour special.

FYI, the original cast couldn't be brought on to Turtles Forever because 4Kids was a non-union company, and the original voice actors are all staunch members of the union.
But regarding 2k3 Turtles vs Nick Turtles... The 2K3 show was extraordinarily boring. The designs were boring, the voice acting was boring, the music was boring - no part of it was fun or exciting. There was very little spark to it, and nothing to draw in anybody that wasn't already a Turtle fan.
Reading the emails between the writers and Peter Laird, with Laird micromanaging over EVERY SINGLE DETAIL to an absurd degree, it's clear there's no love going on - a lot of labor, sure, and even more "we need to get this done and it needs to get done cheap."
Don't get me wrong - I love the Mirage comics. I grew up on them. But the Peter Laird involved with those was a younger man, still excited by the possibilities. The Laird involved with the 2K3 show seemed to be an embittered old guy, arguing over minutia just for the sake of arguing.
So, yeah - the Nick show seems like the people involved genuinely love the property. The 4Kids show felt like little more than "going thru the motions."
BUT to get the thread back on track - I'm excited for the return of the original voice cast!
The voice cast for the 4kids series was great and were loosely based on the movie voices. Don't see why you're complaining about the soundtrack or designs, the animation was fluid and the Turtles resembled Michael Dooney's turtles to a degree.
Saying it wasn't a labor of love is ridiculous, LLoyd Goldfine flat out said he missed working on the cartoon with Peter and they remain good friends.

I'm calling it now on the identity of the Mutagen Man in this series, if the pattern of 'Bringing back characters to mutate them' holds up:
My guess is that Kirby O'Neil (April's dad) is going to turn into the Mutagen Man.

It would be even funnier if it was just "Once Upon a Time Machine, Part II" in which the Fred Wolf VA's simply voiced the old age Turtles. But since will air around the time of the Bay movie buildup, it really could pack a ratings punch! As for Mutagen Man, nice to see another classic make an appearance. When I saw Townsend post a pic of the Nickelodeon building yesterday, I felt that something special was bound to happen, given he changed his pic to Michelangelo made of a lime! Feeling a lot of energy along with the spring fever weather approaching!

It just makes the most sense to me, considering the context of how Ciro was describing how the Mutagen Man would factor into the next season.
Plus, considering they're going to face the Kraang Prime and all that, it makes more sense for Kirby to be present and/or possibly get mutated into the Mutagen Man instead of the Pulverizer coming out of nowhere and mutating with no explanation.

WOW! My turtles are back! Maybe we can see them given justice this time! I feel like a kid again initially reading it! Can't wait to hear more about this. I am surprised they roped in the other three VAs. Bet good ole Rob had something to do with it. After my personal hang ups with the current VAs I am pleasantly surprised to hear the actual voices again. :o :D
Also, awesome news about Mutagen Man! He got a single episode and a figure so its a bit of a surprise to see him dusted off. Not to mention a bigger role this time around. Doubt it will be Seymour Gutz as Mutagen Man this time. Though Peter Laird actually considered using him despite his personal other media pre-2003 ban. Wonder what the appeal of Mutagen Man is? But regarding 2k3 Turtles vs Nick Turtles... The 2K3 show was extraordinarily boring. The designs were boring, the voice acting was boring, the music was boring - no part of it was fun or exciting. There was very little spark to it, and nothing to draw in anybody that wasn't already a Turtle fan.
That's just your opinion and plenty disagree so...
Reading the emails between the writers and Peter Laird, with Laird micromanaging over EVERY SINGLE DETAIL to an absurd degree, it's clear there's no love going on - a lot of labor, sure, and even more "we need to get this done and it needs to get done cheap."
So you want Nano as the turtles butler or multiple garbageman episodes?
Don't get me wrong - I love the Mirage comics. I grew up on them. But the Peter Laird involved with those was a younger man, still excited by the possibilities. The Laird involved with the 2K3 show seemed to be an embittered old guy, arguing over minutia just for the sake of arguing.
Or trying his best to maintain some level of competence and personal sense of integrity over what he co-created and owned because he cared.
You're saying that the guy who okayed Ch'rell wasn't open to possibilities?
So, yeah - the Nick show seems like the people involved genuinely love the property. The 4Kids show felt like little more than "going thru the motions."
They have to act like that regardless. It's not like anyone can possibly say "i'd rather be working on a different show but Nick transferred me to TMNT so I'm making the best of it" or Jason Biggs can get away with saying anything like "sure I'd love to do more movies but hey this is steady work". In interviews they all have to act super excited about what they are doing so we get excited.

Wonder what the appeal of Mutagen Man is? Can't complian because he has potential!
He's a guy made out of mutagen that keeps his body together. I loved how the original toon gave him the ability to shape shift into other people, I hope that idea is kept.

They should have OT baxter make something to get out of limbo, then lures the turtles and try's to send them o limbo, but instead explodes the machine making the turtles and baxter, along with the techno from ( which baxter built the machine in the basement of) to the nick world.

I'm anxious to see how this crossover will play out...it would be awesome if the Nick turtles got transported to the OT universe and vice versa, and they appeared in that art style. Like, the Nick turtles would be hand drawn while the OT turtles would be in CGI. I don't really think they needed to make another Turtles Forever type special (at least not this soon) but that's not to say I'm not excited for it! I couldn't care less about Mutagen Man though...

His human name is funny. "Seymour Guts," such as, "See-more guts" which you "see more guts" when he is Mutagen Man and you see all his guts.
It is quite clever and I like it.
I know what his name means, I'm not an idiot Cubed. It's just not funny.

Its more interesting than if Mutagen Man is either April's father or The Pulverizer. Either that or this time around he's literally just made of mutagen, since in this series it seems like the ooze is sentient and can make creatures like Justin out of DNA

I have to say this news is indeed interesting.
Mutagen Man just adds even more that the show staff are big fans of the original toon/toyline. Hopefully, a figure will be coming that pays homage to the original toy as well.
Maybe Wingnut and Screwloose, Muckman and Joe Eyeball, and a slew of others from the OT will make appearances as well. With Mutagen Man coming, I'd guess anything is possible. Maybe even the Technodrome. :D
On the original voice cast being in the show... Just having Barry, Cam, and Townsend voicing any characters in the show would be awesome, but if they, along with Rob, are all playing the original turtles again after being unable to in Turtles Forever....
I think this will be the better crossover in that it has the original voices. I am going to be curious as to how they do the crossover like others here have voiced. The modern TMNT is computer 3-D versus the original's classic 2-D animated. So will they maybe do what Nick did with their Jimmy Neutron/Fairy Oddparents crossover stuff and combine things?

I just a nerd attack at work when I heard this. I am so pumped for the season two two hour premier with the original voice actors: Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon and of course Rob Paulsen reprising their roles from the 1987 - 1996 series. Plus I am so excited that Mutagen Man will be returning. He's one of my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle characters.
Someone already said that the more they love the 2012 Nickelodeon series the more they hate (no despise) the 2014 upcoming Megan "no talent" Fox flick. And I can't agree anymore. I am sorry but the more I fall in love with the show the more I despise both Fox, Bay and the piece of garbage of a film.
I know we barely have any info on the special, but are the 1987 Turtles actually going to be part of the episode or will they have cameos (only be in one or two scenes) ? I am hearing different things that they will only be in for a short time or that this going to be something similar (not plot wise) like the Turtles Forever. Just curious if anybody knows. I hope Rene Jacobs returns as April.

I look forward to everyone trash talking TF after this comes out. As I'm sure they will make the OT turtles less silly then they were in TF. Though it's become increasingly clear to me that everyone who thinks the OT was mocked in TF missed all the points where the comic books and 2K3 series were being mocked as well. If I watch anything from this show again I will most likely give this a watch but I'm sure the format will turn me off. I tried watching the similar Brave and the Bold crossover but that show is so horrid I didn't even make it far enough to see the event happen.

Good lord. Why all the hate for Fox? All she did was take a job. It's not like she has anything to do with the story. I wouldn't say she has no talent either - maybe her earlier work was bad but she actually does a good job in Friends with Kids and This is 40.

Many people have different feelings of her being casted as April. Some are furious and others think it's the best thing since slice bread. Some people also don't like her in general (don't give me that you don't know her crap because everyone on here and outside of here at least dislikes one person they don't even know). Everyone has different feelings towards her. I personally don't think she is a very a talented actress. And when you love something very much and it gets an interpenetration that you don't like you have every right to voice how you feel as long as your not hurting anyone.
It is what it is but that doesn't mean me and a handful of people have to be happy with it. The April that I grew up with and I am currently getting use to on the 2012 series is not a sex symbol. What are they are going to do ? Have wear a tight yellow shirt where her cleavage shows, a skirt and white close toe stiletto pumps ? I am not saying April is the type of character you would win an Oscar for, but I agree strongly with Laird that they could have found someone much better to play her. When I think and hear of Megan Fox I think of Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence. Bland, unenthusiastic, no emotion actresses looking for a paycheck and something to add to their resume. There is more to a character then looks and Fox's easily uses her looks in every character she plays. She's beautiful yes, but if you use that as a reason to bring your characters to life then your not an actor. You see it as taking a job, actors take it as blessing sometimes (especially if your playing an iconic character). Yeah, you'll get the phonies who who say "oh my God this is blah, blah, blah" but trust me it's all a visage. Think of Lindsay Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor. Yeah... we can all see the hard work she put into that role.
I don't know. Maybe because I am an actor I see it differently then you because your a fan. But in the long run as I said everyone is entitled to their opinions.

It just seems that ever since this new Nick show came out there seems to be some kind of backlash over the 2003 series which I don't understand...the 2k3 series imo is better than the Nick show in every way. But hey it's your opinion...
It's because in the 2K3 series whenever they referenced the OT there was usually a snide tone to it. Others defended the references saying it wasn't meant to be snide but was "complimenting" the OT, but now after seeing and comparing the Nick show give their more innocuous OT references...its all the more clear that the 4Kids writers had a "too cool for school/OT" behavior in their OT references in the first season, and without a doubt in Turtles Forever.
The 4Kids story writing and character development was good and enjoyable in itself, but the harsh OT references were unnecessary. When people behind new projects (2K3) want to elevate their "cool" factor by having to deride other legendary projects (OT), it reeks of childish immaturity.
It's sad really... when the 2K3 show itself was already good in itself, but the extra kicks onto the OT is just... distasteful... especially since if it wasn't for the unprecedented success of the OT, the 2K3 series would most likely be nonexistent altogether.
I expect the OT TMNT will take s lil getting used to in CGI.

Gently poking fun at something isn't snide. Certainly it doesn't seem that was their intentions. In Laird's production notes he suggests a random reporter be turned into Vernon because he felt the fans "get a kick" out Fred Wolf homages like that
How is April dressing in a yellow jump suit as a reporter snide? Or Gen dressing up in Rocksteady's clothes and having a warthog anthropomorph in the same episode snide?
It may have been over egged somewhat in Turtles Forever but lets not pretend almost all of the jokes weren't directly based on stuff that occured in the OT. Even the jokes that weren't (such as the noogies) wouldn't be out of place. They also poked fun at the '03 Shredder being an Utrom and the like not to mention the completely overblown characterisations of the Mirage Comics Turtles as almost nondescript bloodthirsty brutes.
Y'know what would have been a major knock to the OT turtles in TF? If the animators just drew regular 2k3 turtles in initialised belts and coloured pads. Voiced by the 2k3 actors barely trying to emulate the Fred Wolf counterparts and no references to the OT continuity. No scent analyser, no Technodrome cockpit, no Ninja Street, no phone booth elevator and no passersby all using the actual OT designs.
Do you realise how much work it must have taken to recreate the OT characters and world in that exact detail? Are you really suggesting they went to all that trouble just to be snide about them? If Nickledeon puts half as much effort into doing the same it'll still fall very short of doing the Fred Wolf show the love 4Kids did.

This is about the most exciting thing ever. Not the Mutagen Man thing, I don't even remember him. But the old voice actors playing the turtles?! :o I'm just as excited as I was about Turtles Forever before I actually watched it.
And I think people are confusing love for the OT with love for the franchise. The Nick team loves OT, and it shows all the time. 4kids? Not the case. And frankly, among people as a whole, there's just more nostalgia and fond memories of OT than there are for the Mirage comics. Most people don't, didn't, and won't read comic books. So you can't expect show's respect for, and faithfulness to the Mirage comics to be as appreciated as it would be for one of the biggest crazes of a generation.

I actually wonder if the whole episode will be 2D. We've already seen the Nick turtles in 2D on the children's books and in IDW's upcoming Nick comic book.
I could see the Nick turtles being pulled into the Fred Wolf universe and changing from CG to 2D.

There's already been nods to the 4kids series though, they're just more subtle. Raph and Mike's relationship in Nick is very similar to the 4kids version. Raph NEVER whacked Mikey in the original toon or comics.

Uh...let me plagarize my own post:
It's somewhat annoying when some say that "Turtles Forever" accurately depicted the OT Turtles characters when its more a Flanderization of them. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Flanderization With the 4kids Turtles lecturing the OT Turtles so often, it made the OT Turtles come across to be just as incompetent as Bebop and Rocksteady. Especially when this incompetence is pointed out again and again and again in the movie.
Yes, the OT Turtles had obvious slapstick fighting methods, but they almost always took the threats by any villain seriously in the original show and didn't laugh it off or cower away as in "Turtles Forever". Seasons 1, 7, 8-10 (Red Sky Seasons) at least minimally prove that.

I'm not sure how that adaquately counters anything I posted to you about the intentions of the makers of the 4Kids show when poking gentle gun or making homages to the Fred Wolf show. To say these things were snidey is completely oversensetive.
About your reposting from a previous thread I'm not sure pointing six out of ten seasons of "competence" from the characters proves your point. Didn't the turtles lift up Shredder like a rag doll and throw him in some tar while laughing at him in "Night of Rogues" and that was Season 7? There's tons of things throughout the whole show which bare out a lot of the portrayal of the of the Fred Wolf characters in TF.

The main point I'm saying is that the OT Turtles were not buffoons. You seem to be emphasizing the artwork (of your first counterargument), and I'm focusing on the character depictions. And again, as I said before... they had slapstick fighting methods (your ragdoll references of season 7), but I never once seen them in the OT behave and act so stupid and cowardice like Turtles Forever did. Like I said, 4Kids' writers "Flanderized" the OT Turtles. Just like 2K3 Raph said, "It's like having 5 Mikeys." (2K3 Mikey + OT Turtles)
And that cowardice strikes a blow against the whole foundation of what Ninja Turtles are supposed to be....brave in the face of danger, right? I'm just sayin'...:ohwell:

Saw the facebook post... so I guess it's REALLY happening... great, a second turtles forever... I'm happy to see the OT voice cast return for guest appearances but I'd really rather it not go this way. At least when the 2k3 series did this kind of crossover it was after the show had already ended... Nick is doing it in the second season and who knows how this will play into the storyline. I don't want to see the classic turtles showing up all the time.
I like the Nick show becuase it is its own thing. I'm not interested in these nostalgic elements like the OT turtles and bebop and rocksteady showing up. And for the love of all things good NO KRANG (hopefully Kraang Prime is a much better character)
I grew up with the OT turtles in the 80s/early 90s so I think I have a right to this opinion: Let the OT turtles rest, stop bringing them back.

from the point of view of the OT turtles.. will this then be in the same continuity as "Turtles for-ever." ?
Will they arrive and say. "Oh this again, another alternative univers, wonder what it's like this time around!"
Mostly though I would like OT Shredder to arrive at this place again and go. "For god's sake, is EVERY other Shredder more hardcore than I am? And are they ALL claiming to be the one and only Shredder? Life is so unfair :,( "

My opinion is similar to yours Zulithe! :) As much as I enjoy the OT, it's a little awkward to have them in the 2nd season already. (I thought at most there would be an OT Turtles cameo visit later on or near the end of the Nick series.) But I'm more indecisively indifferent about the OT Turtles and Mutagen Man appearing in Nick, because I have to see how seamlessly the OT Turtles do fit in the Nick storytelling series as the article has stated. It's going to be one remarkable feat if the writers can pull it off without having a forced OT nostalgia feeling that doesn't overshadow the Nick series, and even more impressive is if they can work the episode into the OT show's storyline (considering both the OT series and in "Turtles Forever"). (If it's done well, then I wouldn't mind the very rare occasion of the OT Turtles returning again after this cameo visit.)
But on the other hand, I feel the OT Turtles cameo appearance in Nick was somewhat warranted after "Turtles Forever" did a horrendous job of representing them, and by not including the Fred Wolf staff (I believe it was because of labor/union disputes), or at least getting their opinions for such a multiverse inclusive TMNT project.
With so much discussion on these forums and other internet sites of wanting to introduce Mona Lisa, Irma, the Technodrome, having Kraang Prime similar to OT Krang, and Dimension X, I kind of worry that the Nick show may be perceived by others as a derivative copy of the OT if there are too many OT elements. Currently, I don't necessarily think of the Nick series like this, but its tempting to ponder over.
It's definitely a tricky balance for the Nick show writers to have the Nick series have their own identity/interpretation when you already have so many reinterpretations of TMNT (cartoons, movies and comics) to respectfully give references to, but at the same time having a proper distance from them so the show is not like those past interpretations.

We have had members doing that schtick before and it wasn't cute nor funny the first time either (looking especially at you BS19), it is annoying.
And at least spell properly when trying to role-play, you're writing Shredder like he was a 40's stereotype. Spell-check program exists for a reason.

Maybe it won't even be an official "crossover" in which the two universes come together. Maybe MutagenMan will shapeshift into something that looks and sounds like the 80's version of the Turtles. Or the 2012 Turtles will have some sort of hallucination...

Here's my question though.
from the point of view of the OT turtles.. will this then be in the same continuity as "Turtles for-ever." ?
Will they arrive and say. "Oh this again, another alternative univers, wonder what it's like this time around!"
Mostly though I would like OT Shredder to arrive at this place again and go. "For god's sake, is EVERY other Shredder more hardcore than I am? And are they ALL claiming to be the one and only Shredder? Life is so unfair :,( "
I hope that they do that.

I admit the 80s episode of the guy is average, but I really like his shape shifting ability... here's for hoping he had floating decapitated human parts in the jar.

The earlier post on this thread that I was responding to was about you casting negetive aspersions on the intentions of the 4Kids creative staff of why they did homages to the Fred Wolf show. I pointed out there's actual evidence that suggests that far from meaning to be snide or to make their version cooler in comparison - they did it because they knew fans of the old show liked it.
Talking about Turtles Forever specificaly I think the effort that went into animating the Fred Wolf characters and world is a rather telling of their intentions. When the special was first announced people expected only minor design differences to differentiate the two but 4Kids went all out. They even took obscure things that only a die hard would remember like the other punks from the first season or the Technodrome's cockpit and the phone booth elevator and recreated them in exact detail right down to the trash in the dumpsters. Are you really saying they went to all that trouble simply to trash them?
It went far beyond the animation though. A lot of the fun as a fan of the Fred Wolf show should have been stuff like...hearing Donatello say "let's stay in touch" and thinking; hey that's from 'Return of The Shredder" or hearing Raph say "we resemble that remark" and thinking that was a callback to 'Raphael Knocks 'em Dead" or seeing Bebop use the Scent Analyser from 'Beware The Lotus' or Donatello using a wrench as a hammer like he did 'Leonardo Lightens Up'
They really must have scoured through the old show for stuff like that which again makes it unlikely they would go to that much effort if they meant to make them look bad. It also seems to put a dent in the argument they were inaccurately represented. For years I've heard detractors say "OT Leo wouldn't say this" or "OT Don wouldn't do that" about stuff that was ripped directly from the Fred Wolf show.
And that cowardice strikes a blow against the whole foundation of what Ninja Turtles are supposed to be....brave in the face of danger, right? I'm just sayin'...:ohwell:
Kind of like how brave Leonardo is in 'Snakes Alive' :twink:

I totally agree with this. As a matter of fact, I believe that both this series and the IDW comics are pushing the whole reference thing a bit to far. I've got to admit though, that so far it has been done quite well by both nick and IDW (especially IDW), but I'd hate to see any of those runs sacrifice their identities for the sake of nostalgia.
Anyway, I'm really curious as to how all this is gonna work. So far IDW has been flawless when it came down to integrating nostalgic elements into its cannon, and I'm really looking forward to see how nick handles this.

Okay, let me get this out of the way before I say anything else - YES. YES. YES YES YES. OH MY GOD HELL YES.
...Okay. I think I'm calm now. Somewhat.
Yeah, I am LOVING the idea of seeing the OT Turtles again, especially with their actual voice actors. I'm not expecting it to be as awesome as Turtles Forever, which was nigh perfect, but I'm still very excited to see what they have in mind for this.
The only issues I had with the treatment of the OT Turtles in Forever was the wrong voices, and the fact that yes, they were treated as a little more laughable than they should have been. I don't really know if that was a 'mistake' per say though. They come from a universe which operates on a lot more vintage cartoon logic than the 2K3 universe did. So you really only have three routes you can go with that. 1) They are made to be completely ineffective and laughable; 2) they are made to be idiot savants who despite being bizarre, never fail; or 3) a mix of the two. I think that for the most part, 4Kids went for option 3, but fell into option 1 a little too often. I would have liked to see a few moments where the OT Turtles actually achieved something in a ridiculous way, and the 2K3 Turtles are just flabbergasted that it even worked. Ah well, missed opportunities.
As for if this crossover will also eventually feature the 2K3 Turtles...eh, leave that for another time I say. And as much as I want them to get the 4Kids cast back if they do that, I would find it akwardly hilarious if it was THAT cast that wasn't brought back this time around.
Eh, not too much into the old toon, so not fussed. As someone mentioned, it will be interesting to see how they mix the 2D and 3D - you think that they'll make them 3d also?

Why are you still focused on the artwork references? (The cockpit, the scent analyzer, the wrench as a hammer, the phone booth elevator). :-? Yes, they may have searched through the episodes, but again like I said before the OT Turtles took almost every threat by a villain seriously but in Turtles Forever the OT Turtles were depicted as having Vernon-level cowardice and Bebop-level incompetence.
Kind of like how brave Leonardo is in 'Snakes Alive' :twink:
So Leonardo is supposed to be a Gary-Stu? He can't have one paralyzing fear like normal people, like 2K3 Raph's fear of insects? The point is the OT Turtles were depicted as having Vernon-level cowardice and Bebop-level incompetence and if that was accurate to the original series, which Gen Y kid would have wanted to emulate/aspire to be that (a cowardly buffoon) during the OT's heyday?
You don't have to agree with me or my opinion, and that's fine with me... but when you don't want to discuss in depth about the points I'm bringing up (OT Turtles cowardice and incompetence in "Turtles Forever") and still referring to the artwork detail/references that I didn't bring up, then it's just not worth my time and it's inappropriate for me to continue this discussion in this thread. The OT turtles Were "goofballs" at times, but turtles forever took it way to far imo. They weren't cowardly at all either. I liked turtles forever, but it was far from what I wanted it to be.
Now it would be funny to me if all the turtles were in a fight together and somehow the ot turles tried to get one of thouse food fights going, and the nick turtles were like what???? And the bad guys didn't go along with it (maybe they shot the pizzas with there guns). and the ot was like "dang, it always worked before... LOL!!!!!!!

My point is to show the amount of effort they went to really sell it that this was the '87 turtles and not vaguely similar ones. Why would they do all this if they meant to do them a disservice.
As I pointed out it's not just the animation that has that attention to detail but everything from lines of dialogue ripped from the old show and references to obscure episodes. Again why would they go to all this effort if their intention was to do them a disservice as you claimed?
Also you are forgetting the knocks the 2k3 turtles recived particularly by the Mirage turtles who mostly viewed both cartoon turtles as stupid and in the end seemed to prefer the OT turtles? Hardly trying to make the 2K3 turtles look good there.
"Vernon-level cowardice" - I don't remember that. I remember the '87 turtles getting involved in every fight with little hesitation. When the 2K3 turtles told them how threatening Ch'rell was in comparison to their Shredder and that they could do and then they went in the Technodrome to fight him anyway. They got scared for a funny moment in the Mirage world but that lasted a few seconds before they were fighting again.
"Bebop-level competence" - '87 Don came up with the method to track the Technodrome both on Earth and through Dimensions. He also built the portal stick, something the newer Don thought was impossible. Infact the newer Don got it to work by doing something he previously thought his older counterpart was stupid to do.
The exploding shuriken saved their lives and their fighting methods were seen as silly but got the job done. It was the OT characters methods that saved the multiverse....what more could you possibly want???
So Leonardo is supposed to be a Gary-Stu? He can't have one paralyzing fear like normal people, like 2K3 Raph's fear of insects? The point is the OT Turtles were depicted as having Vernon-level cowardice and Bebop-level incompetence and if that was accurate to the original series, which Gen Y kid would have wanted to emulate/aspire to be that (a cowardly buffoon) during the OT's heyday?
I'd say running away from battle and the way he acted in that episode in general is pretty embarassing even by OT standards. (I didn't care for how Raph's fear of bugs was portrayed in the Nick show either.) It does however show that there is a precedent for the Fred Wolf turtles getting as scared as they did for an ever so brief moment in Turtles Forever.
I am discussing it. Your original point of the 4Kids creators intentions with the old toon homages and your followup ones about the characterisation of the '87 characters in TF. Hahaha!... THAT would be interesting. :tlol:
Mutagen Man? I hope they don't change him too much. He definitely has potential, I was actually hoping that if they ever brought him back that they'd make him into a really tragic character.
As far as the OT turtles it's definitely shocking and well I don't know how to feel. I certainly hope they get treated better than in Turtles Forever, I've already posted my opinion on that in the talkbacks and I summarized it just a few minutes ago in this post (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showpost.php?p=1079836&postcount=28).
But yeah I'm definitely intrigued, I hope the way the meet up is something logical and not "Donnie's invention made these tv episodes in their universe turn real" basically destroying the idea of a "Turtleverse" created in TurtlesForever.
Personally I'd like to see them being animated, and the Nick turtles CG, it'd look terrible if the 2D turtles are drawn on the CG world but if the CG turtles are put in the 2D world it wouldn't look as bad. If we saw the Nick turtles animated traditionally it'd be awesome since those designs look much better in 2D and I'd love to see them in their superior version at least once. But I guess most likely the OT turtles will be CG, which I'm also ok with since it'll be interesting to see them like that but it's definitely at the bottom of my preferences.
So my wish list is just for the OT to be more in character and for it to not ruin the Turtleverse. Hope the team-up is great but really for me even if a team-up is bad it's still good since you get to see two things you like together.

Most likely it'll be dimension hopping. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if OT Don's dimensional portal pulls them into the Nick world or vice versa.

Bebop and Rocksteady flat out shoot at him with their guns till he falls off the balcony and melts in the mutagen. They even make a joke about how he, "fell to pieces."
A tragic character for sure. Best part about him though was his shape shifting powers.

Well in the Pilot we see snakeweed mutate with his heart on the outside of his body (pretty gross) and you can see his bones/exposed raw flesh when he splits his legs apart. So yes I think Nick TMNT is already going there, and probably will continue to do so
Though Peter Laird actually considered using him despite his personal other media pre-2003 ban.Really? Where did you hear that?

It was apart of one of the two failed of the three pitches for season 7 of the 2003 cartoon. This version was as a working title called Ultimate TMNT, a reference to Marvel's side universe. It was supposed to incorporate the cartoon with influences beyond Mirage Comics, specifically the 4 movies and the '87 cartoon. Among the few details given beyond that Mutagen Man was to be involved. Its somewhere in the archives of Peter's TMNT Blog. Peter did tell me in person while he perfers his own vision of TMNT than anything there were three things he absolutely loved about the '87 cartoon and related prodcuts/media. 1.Baxter Stockman as They Fly, its the sci-fi geek in him. 2.The Techndrome,a bada$$ albeit corny super fortress that again the sci-fi geek in him loves and 3. Mutagen Man, he just liked the concept of a man held together by mutagenic chemicals in a manner similar to Clayface III.

No, there were four chemicals combined to make mutagen. The Shredder had three of the four. What was missing was the Byndex-3, which held the mutagen together. Seymour had to steal the container with the rarest of the four chemicals for Shredder in assumption he would be fixed back to normal when the four,Byndex-3 was added into the vat. It would pull him back together and back to normal since his ripped apart state would be the equvilant to his mutant form.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Fred Wolf TMNT show up next season! Mutagen Man, not so much. I kinda feel like he was really a throwaway character. Mutagen Man is probably more famous for the name than the character itself, especially the toy. I mean if he was called, "Guts man" or something it wouldn't have made as much impact.
But the name, "Mutagen Man" just makes him sound important because its the substance that mutates everyone.

There was more than a few people hoping the Nick series would give a chance to obscure but cool characters.
That being said I would argue the vintage Playmates/Fred Wolf characters that have been used so far are pretty standard archetypes. The fact that they are named and vaguely resemble 80s characters are just a nod.
Metalhead? A robotic counterpart to the heroes is a standard trope of the genre, even Mirage and 2K3 did it. Instead of calling it Turtlebot or Mechaturtle they did a nod to Metalhead.
Traag? It's a giant rock creature. They are pretty common in the sci fi action/adventure genre too. It was nothing like General Traag but they gave him that name as a nice nod to the OT.
I'd imagine same with Mutagen Man. Someone at nick had a great idea for a story involving a person that's a cross mutated with different things ad the result is something grotesque and they decided to vaguely make him look like and give him the name of a similar character from the 80s show and toyline.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
I agree with the person who said something like this would be better served after the series ended, like the Turtles Forever special did. On the other hand, I'm excited about the possibility of the 1987 Turtles coming back being done right.
The 1987 Turtles in Turtles Forever were a parody of 1987 Michelangelo. A fan of the movie asked for specifics. Here goes:
The Turtles did not all yell "Cowabunga!" all the time. That was Michelangelo's catchphrase. Only Michelangelo should have said it.
The Turtles did not laugh obnoxiously together in serious situations. They cracked jokes and one-liners, but didn't all stop to laugh at each other. A lot of the jokes in Turtles Forever were fine, but the obnoxious laughter was wrong.
The Turtles only ate pizza, true. They were not crack addicts that would waste their only phone call to get a fix. Their obsession could have been shown at meal times.
What the heck is "Anti-Technodrome Gear?"
Michelangelo being unable to lift the manhole cover was intended as a non to them being used as projectiles in the original cartoon. I get it, but it could have been done without making the 1987 TMNT made out to be weaklings. He tries to lift it, fails, makes the joke about them being heavier, but succeeds in lifting it up, albeit with effort.
Wet willies and noogies. That crap is from the movies. Should have been left there.
Donatello was made out to be an idiot savant. Not knowing a wrench from a hammer? Having to repeat a child's rhyme to remember how to tie a knot? The guy earned a college degree in the original cartoon, for cripes' sake! (OK, Sofo U, but still!)
I'm sure there are others I've forgotten.
That said, I don't think it was deliberate. I did, until I found Peter Laird's blog yesterday. In his emails, I saw a couple script changes he requested to make the Turtles seem less incompetent. Galactus points out several little things the creators did to homage the 1987 series.
I honestly wonder if they just confused the 1987 Turtles with the TMNT III Turtles. The guys in Turtles Forever were much more like the third film than the cartoon.
The 1987 baddies were done perfectly. Shredder and Krang were incompetent for most the run. Bebop and Rocksteady were incompetent for all of the run. Krang's line to Bebop and Rocksteady was pure gold: "Then, may [the 2003 Shredder] also find you as useful as we always have."
But the Turtles themselves were just wrong. They were the jokes, instead of the ones making the jokes. That was a slap in the face to those of us who grew up loving the 1987 cartoon.
I don't hate the 2003 TMNT. (I generally hear only great things about it! I've just never seen it!) I don't care if people hate the 1987 TMNT. But don't tell me that Turtles Forever was a fair representation of the 1987 team. It wasn't even close.

As a fan of the OT, I have to disagree with you saying the turtles weren't handled well in Turtles Forever. The Turtles screaming cowbunga in unision is something from the videogames and the first movie.
The Turtles did not laugh obnoxiously together in serious situations. They cracked jokes and one-liners, but didn't all stop to laugh at each other. A lot of the jokes in Turtles Forever were fine, but the obnoxious laughter was wrong.
Not really, the Turtles burst into laughter when April tells them a rhino and warthog were stolen from the zoo in episode 2. They also laughed in other situations like seeing the Swatter.
The Turtles only ate pizza, true. They were not crack addicts that would waste their only phone call to get a fix. Their obsession could have been shown at meal times.
The Turtles love for pizza was handled perfectly, sometimes they did stop to get pizza in the middle of a mission.

Are you being serious? How the hell do you think this made them look like weaklings? The joke was the manhole covers were treated as paper thin in the OT that even April could lift them easily, in real life manhole covers are heavy as hell.
Donatello was made out to be an idiot savant. Not knowing a wrench from a hammer? Having to repeat a child's rhyme to remember how to tie a knot? The guy earned a college degree in the original cartoon, for cripes' sake! (OK, Sofo U, but still!)
Don did hit things using a wrench as a hammer in the OT.

To be fair, April's statement was pretty funny. "A rhino and a warthog are gonna lead us to the Technodrome?"
Don did hit things using a wrench as a hammer in the OT.
Using a wrench as a hammer and confusing a wrench and a hammer are two very different things.
I'll concede the manhole cover bit. For some reason, I thought 2003 Raphael lifted it up afterwards. Not sure why I thought that.

There were some things about the OT Turtles that were off, like the noogies and the crying scene, but other than that they were close to how they were.
The Turtles were not great fighters in most of the OT, usually winning fights by slapstick or throwing objects than actual martial arts. Same with Shredder. And I say this as a huge fan of the original cartoon.

In the videogame and movie.... not the 80's cartoon. And it was MIKEY's catchphrase. It would be like making all 4 Turtles yell Booyakasha.
Not really, the Turtles burst into laughter when April tells them a rhino and warthog were stolen from the zoo in episode 2. They also laughed in other situations like seeing the Swatter.
Both very bad examples. The Swatter was made to be laughed at. They stopped laughing when they saw him as a threat. The Rhino and Warthog thing was silly-sounding, and they stopped laughing when April mentioned the robots, which was Shredder's M.O
The Turtles love for pizza was handled perfectly, sometimes they did stop to get pizza in the middle of a mission.
That was mostly Mikey, and the others would call him out on it.

I agree with this one. It just looked kinda mean when you factor in everything else in the movie. On its own, it's a very good observation on how they seemed weightless in the old show.
Don did hit things using a wrench as a hammer in the OT.
Don would never confuse a wrench for a hammer. And he would definitely NEVER say 'science isn't all facts you know'. He was obsessed with his logic and calculations in the old show.
The Turtles themselves saved the day in Turtles Forever. Don invented the portal stick and the explosive throwing stars, Raph broke the fourth wall, and they all did fighting against the Purple dragons.

As I recall, Donatello did have a way to change them back to humans and they said something to the affect of "no way, why would we want to be normal again? We'd rather be super heroes". Which I always thought was a really bad call. Living as garbage and whatever the heck Joe Eyeball was doesn't seem like a great existence even with super human abilities of some kind.
I always thought it was crummy that Seymour never returned to his origin body but at least he ended up human so I guess that's not so bad compared to most freak of the week stories on TMNT. He's a heck of a diligent delivery guy considering after all he went through he was still focused on completing that delivery.
Mutagen Man in 2K3 would have been horrific no doubt, probably somewhat like Baxter's decaying alien body in "Insane in the Membrane" but I imagine the 2012 Mutagen Man will be very tragic and unlikely to return to a human form. I swear if that is Kirby, it's going to be hard to watch.

I can see them taking on board some of the criticisms of Turtles Forever and casual fans being happy that the turtles are presented as they perhaps vaguely remember. I doubt they'd put nearly as much effort into capturing so much of the old show but I suppose seeing as its not been that long since Turtles Forever they probably don't need to.
That being said I do applaud that you have come up with specific examples of how you feel the special did them wrong in order to debate this...
The Turtles did not all yell "Cowabunga!" all the time. That was Michelangelo's catchphrase. Only Michelangelo should have said it.
It happened twice which I think is about the same amount they actualy did that in the Fred Wolf show.
The Turtles did not laugh obnoxiously together in serious situations. They cracked jokes and one-liners, but didn't all stop to laugh at each other. A lot of the jokes in Turtles Forever were fine, but the obnoxious laughter was wrong.
Apart from the aforementioned example in "Enter The Shredder" and laughing at the bad guy from "Michaelangelo Meets Bug Man Again" or the turtles laughing at Don when he was beaten by Slash. It happened enough for it to be noticeable.
The Turtles only ate pizza, true. They were not crack addicts that would waste their only phone call to get a fix. Their obsession could have been shown at meal times.
I wouldn't say they were addicts in Turtles Forever. The went into a pizza parlour and order pizzas with weird toppings they suggested going for pizza at a weird time and wanted to take a stack of pizzas with them in the turtle van. All those three things happened in the '87 show. I actualy expected more of this like them using pizzas as weapons etc.
What the heck is "Anti-Technodrome Gear?"
Things that are made to track and/or battle the Technodrome such as the Turtle Van, Turtle Blimp and exploding shuriken...which actualy worked better than it did in "Return of The Technodrome".
We don't know there intentions so I suppose this is up to intepretation but I always thought that was a light hearted jab at how pretty much all media manholes are always so easily lifted which is pretty much impossible in real life.
Wet willies and noogies. That crap is from the movies. Should have been left there.
There were only noogies and I've previously conceded that wasn't from anything in the '87 show but I do think it should be pointed out that a recurring joke like that wouldn't exactly be out of place in that show.
I do agree it was probably inspired by a similar recurring joke involving wet willies in the third live action movie. I do think it was a consideration of the 4Kids writers to give nods to other versions of the TMNT beyond the Hence we got new versions of Tokka and Rahzar and Hun resembling Slash from the Archie comics and the Turtle Van being named the Party Wagon which was is name in the toyline.
Donatello was made out to be an idiot savant. Not knowing a wrench from a hammer? Having to repeat a child's rhyme to remember how to tie a knot? The guy earned a college degree in the original cartoon, for cripes' sake! (OK, Sofo U, but still!)
He did that in "Leonardo Lightens Up" and we're talking about a character who figured out which wire to cut in trying to defuse a bomb using the rhyme "eenie meenie" before deciding on "eh purple" because it was the same colour as his bandana in "Michaelangelo Meets Mondo Gecko".
That said, I don't think it was deliberate. I did, until I found Peter Laird's blog yesterday. In his emails, I saw a couple script changes he requested to make the Turtles seem less incompetent. Galactus points out several little things the creators did to homage the 1987 series.
Which is sad because Peter Laird tends to get the blame from disgruntled fans who feel the '87 turtles were misrepresented based on him not exactly being a fan of the Fred Wolf show (although his opinion seems to be very exaggerated) but in reality it seems he played a part in toning down this goofyness.
Personaly I think that when representing the Fred Wolf chatacters and world the writers had two things in mind.
Firstly to get in as much of the pre-Red Sky stuff as possible. Most of the jokes at the old show were based on things that happened in the show itself and all done at once it can be a bit jarring to people who remember moments or episodes of goofyness spread out spread out over seven years.
Secondly they wanted to portray the three sets of turtles as differently as possible hence why they focused on sillier aspects of the Fred Wolf show and the ultra grim n' grittiness of the Mirage turtles with the 4Kids version being the middle ground. You can see this right down to the look - a lot of fans of the 4Kids show were upset that depsite the increased budget they didn't use the designs of the first five seasons but I believe they used the new more angular designs to contrast between the Fred Wolf designs.
I agree with this but plenty didn't and wondered why Shredder wasn't kicking ass like he did in "The Incredible Shrinking Turtles" forgetting that they were jokes more often than not which goes to show that there is no real consensus on what is the "right" characterisation for these characters.
For me who grew up with the old show too I just enjoyed seeing so many things from the old show in it. They really went all out to with so many nods to the Fred Wolf show down to things that only a big fans would recognise.
When you consider most expected that they were just going to use 4Kids designs but with coloured pads and initialised belt buckles and the odd reference to pizza or surfer slang I think we all got lucky.

I get the feeling people won't enjoy these 80's turtles as much as they'll be in CG, and thus look very different than we're used to seeing them even if they use the same type of designs.
In Turtles Forever, the 80's Turtles looked EXACTLY like they did in the old show.
I'm actually worried about what the 80's Turtles will look like in CG.

Wait so the 80's Turtles are definetly going to be in CG? Hmm...I was kind of hoping we'd see the 2012 Turtles in 2D...oh well. It'll be an adjustment but I'm confident they can pull it off.

No, it hasn't been confirmed that the 80s Turtles will be CGI.

I'm not worried. As a matter of fact, I'm guessing we're going to see the OT turtles in 2d AND 3d. Like OT Turtles follow some baddy through a dimensional portal and end up in the nick universe, or vice versa with the Nick turtles entering the OT and getting a 2d makeover before returning with their fellow terrapins- I'd really like to see that. In any case, the current show's crew is so dedicated and they're such fans of the original that I'm sure it they will do a great job.

Guys, I still think the OT turtles are in 2D even in the nickverse. 3D and 2D can be together.

Yeah, I can't say I'm worried either. I'm very interested in how they are going to be animated, but exactly how they will look isn't really something that concerns me. I trust the Nick team to do a great job with their look no matter the direction.
Besides, it's much more important to me that they fit in story-wise then that they look exactly how I think they should. If the story is great and the characters act true to the ones I grew up with, I'm much more willing to forgive whatever they look like.

How exactly are they going to show 2D characters in CG "sets" and interacting with CG characters? I can't see how they'd make that work.
I just figure the 80's Turtles will be in CG

There's this movie called "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". Look it up.
Now replace the live action with CG in your imagination. Boom! You get the idea.

Well if they can make it work. I think it might just be easier for them to CG the characters.
Also still disappointed it only seems to be the four Turtles appearing. Was hoping we'd get to see Shredder/Krang/Bebop/Rocksteady too....but there's no mention of James Avery or Pat Farley going to Nick to record lines...so we're probably not seeing them.

I think its a little early to be disappointed. The only reason we know of the turtles coming back is because Ciro decided to throw us a little bone to keep us salivating until the next season. Who knows, half of the cast could already be queued up for recording sessions but nick doesnt want to give too much away, tho i wouldnt hold my breath. Plus Bebop and Rocksteady were voiced by Clarke and Gordon so we could very well be seeing them.

Well its only a 1 hour episode, not a movie, and that basically just means 44 minutes since there will be commercials. (Its really just a 2-part episode)
They probably don't have time to include so many characters.

Aww gee. No 4kids That's a shame (Smirks)
They'll probably come later on in a separate crossover.
With Rob Paulsen there (Nick Turtles), I'm sure there's going to be some form of awkward tension if the original 4Kids voice actors were there knowing that he (Rob Paulsen) wasn't used for "Turtles Forever". With that in mind, who knows what the odds are of 4Kids Turtles appearing on the Nick version...
Not making an opinion or anything, I'm just sayin'...

The 4kids Turtles aren't appearing in THIS crossover, but that doesn't mean they can't appear in a future one down the line. Or the Mirage turtles for that matter.

I'm highlighting if the idea was brought to use the 4Kids Turtles in the future, that there would be an awkwardness of sorts if it was implemented.

Rob Paulsen doesn't have a grudge against voice actors he never met, if that's what you're thinking.

Rob Paulsen is a sarcastic guy. Voice actors don't hold grudges against replacement VA's.
I'm sure Rob doesn't hate the guy who replaced him for Season 10.
