Got tips for customizing figs?

I was wondering what all you experianced customizers could tell me about your craft before I get started. More then likely there are tips elsewhere but I figured others could benifit from this topic too. I would really like to know what kinds of paints you all use, like what kinds dont leave streaks, are their paints that give it an authentic AF look? Post any tips you have please.

It would be most helpful to check out he-man.org's forum for custom figures. Even if you don't like he-man, the guys over there really know what they are doing and put out REALLY nice looking customs, so good in fact a lot of them get published in toyfare. EX- the he-man customs in the latest toyfare were done by a board member by the name of Joe Amaro.
