Figure I should do this 'lil Intro thingy finally.
So I seem to be on a resurgence of my TMNT love.
I was raised on Ninja Turtles (along with various other TV goodies). I got to play the TMNT Arcade Game on my cousin's NES, I still own TMNT IV on the SNES and my original VHS have survived the years. It's too bad my toys have all seemed to disappear.
I am now collecting IDW's Color Classics. I have 1-7 and Mikey and Don's stories. I missed Raph's and I cant seem to find any shop with a copy. Leo's book just came out this past Wednesday and I seem to have missed book #9's release so I gotta track that down.
Because I was born in 1984 and did much of my growing up in small towns, I never got to go to any comic books shops and even so, mom didn't know the Turtles were based on a comic book series. I missed my chance to read the original stories and see the original art so I'm kinda trying to relive that and I'm enjoying it. The only black and white issue I own is the reissue #1 that came out as a pre order to the 2007/2008 CG movie game tie-in from GameStop.
I'm also starting to pick up IDW's ongoing series with Eastman writing. I been trying to track down some of the Eastman variant covers because it means a lot to me to see his art, but the books are hard to get for my local shops.
I have been an artist all my life and I am currently a self-published comic book artist. The Turtles were a big part of my childhood and they started by two friends self publishing a comic so it's a very impactful thing to me and a big influence on my own work.
I'm basically enjoying reliving my love of the Turtles out of nowhere. I haven't seen the new Nick cartoon but I am amazed the Turtles are still popular 30 years later.
I don't plan on, nor do I have the money to buy up the original toys and other collectables. I would like to own some of the older figures and just leave them on card. I would also love to get some of my original figures again, like another Turtle Van/Party Wagon as mine was stolen by a friend (I believe).
To leave off I will also say the the original TMNT 1990 movie is my favorite ever since I was a child and that even at a young age, I hated TMNT 3. I couldn't sit through it and I didn't know why when I loved them so much.
Outside of the TMNT,
I have been a big fan of zombies for years now. My self-published comic book is called "Zombie B.C." and it's set in the prehistoric age of mammals where the cavemen came face to face with zombies. I'm planning this for a mini-series but it can be ongoing. The cover was done by a friend, Aurora O'Brien, who is also a local model. She got Steve Rude "The Dude" to finish it up and ink it and then I colored the art. The rest of the book is done by me and is in black and white.
I was writing another story before this one also involving zombies.
I have produced artwork for several bands including local AZ groups, n0th1n6 (Nothing), and The Brazen Heads, and the Chicago band called Tub Ring. Most notably I produced several pieces of art, 2 of which were printed for shirts in 2008 for the band Mindless Self Indulgence.
Aside from my comic book endeavors, I'm currently an artist for the female health website, SheKnows.com (website contains mature, but tasteful, content).
