Even if it's not surprising, Ritchson gave the first description of the mocap tech with any detail.
He confirmed that the actors are doing at least some of their own fight and stunt work.
He said everything on the internet is wrong, indirectly denying the alien rumors. No one has denied the alien rumors.

But, maybe none of that is important?

It's not the alien part what worries me. It's the fact that a bad director (Michael Bay) will direct it, and a bad actress (Megan Fox) will play one of the main characters.
They've got a lot to prove...

The video itself doesn't really tell anything new. Mocap with CGI, sure, dunno if it was said before, but seriously, are there anyone who expected something else?

oh yes, stated that he was in a mocap suit. A spandex with ping pong balls attached to it, that's mocapping for ya, big news!

own stunt work, isn't that given when at least the actor playing Raph is athletic enough to do the safer stunts?

He denied nothing and confirmed nothing, it might as well been a comment about people screaming that Michal Bay is raping their childhood and that people are early predicting the movie to suck.

Just to throw more fuel on the fire,
it was the same case with the new Evil Dead with the original guys saying "It's gonna be good" and the fans saying "NO!"
However this is Michael Bay now and so far I haven't seen one of his movies I did like lol
Plus: Megan Fox who's only movie I been able to watch is Jennifer's Body and in it she's disgusting and possessed lol

I'm trying not to pass judgement until the movie has something to be seen from (trailers, etc) but, so far, there is nothing about this project (aside form the name) that has caught me.

Not to sound rude but why wouldn't he defend the film? It's the biggest movie the guy has ever been involved with...

I've heard that whole "trust us, just wait for the film, trust us" mantra when films like Nightmare on Elm Street remake, Total Recall remake, Fright Night remake, The Thing prequel, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and such were being made.

I had a gut feeling, saw them/gave them a chance, and my gut was right. So I think some people do have legitimate reasons to doubt what Hollywood puts out, and have reasons to have very, very low expectations. Especially when none of the news is really anything to go jumping for joy about.

And I don't know why but this part stuck with me (yes I'm sure I'm looking too much into it. But i tend to do that from time to time):

"We're running around Manhattan, me and Megan Fox, her looking wonderful and me looking like some kind of ant with cameras all over my face."

So Raphael and April running around Manhattan? Hmm. From the sound of it, it was just the two of them instead of "all of us running around Manhattan" aka the other actors playing the other turtles.

I'm sure I'm looking too much into it though.

It’s good that anyone working on the project has the passion to defend it and aspects of it sound awesome.

But it’s all very well saying that the comments on the internet are wrong, but if it weren't for the leaked script and comments made by Michael Bay himself then there wouldn't be an issue. The speculation is going to continue until someone with authority comes clean with us about whether the concepts behind the leaked script have been shelved / modified. And gives a definitive answer rather than tip-toeing around the point with sales-speak and waffle.

They are dealing with a subject that has been close to some people’s hearts for nearly thirty years. As a fan-base we have seen a lot of ‘reboots’, some great and some disappointing. No-one can say we haven't dealt with change. Every turtles incarnation has had its own angle. Knowing that many fans have read or read about the leaked script how could anyone expect us to sit back and wait for the film without an ounce of apprehension? We all care about the integrity of the franchise and want to see them make the best of a really awesome opportunity.

If the turtles are aliens (and everything else that goes with it) then I for one would rather know now. That way I can get used to the idea and go into the cinema prepared and just be entertained. :D

Couldn't agree more. Except - if they are aliens, well, I certainly won't watch this in the theaters, and probably would only rent just to see how bad it is. It took me 8 years to build up the courage to watch "Batman and Robin", and only was able to after watching Batman Begins, because I knew we were past that ridiculousness and finally got to see Batman portrayed on film the way I thought he should be.

I mean now someones complaining cause he's filming alone on the streets with Megan Fox instead of with the other 3 turtles. uhh you don't know what the films about so how do you judge a film based off of a part being filmed? unreal people... unreal! I believe that part is being directed at me, correct? That's funny, because I remember typing exactly this:

"And I don't know why but this part stuck with me (yes I'm sure I'm looking too much into it. But i tend to do that from time to time.)

"We're running around Manhattan, me and Megan Fox, her looking wonderful and me looking like some kind of ant with cameras all over my face."

So Raphael and April running around Manhattan? Hmm. From the sound of it, it was just the two of them instead of "all of us running around Manhattan" aka the other actors playing the other turtles."

Now, feel free to let me know where in that paragraph was I "complaining" about that aspect? The reason it stuck out for me was because I find it interesting that perhaps this is a scene with Raphael and April by themselves?

Perhaps they get split up from the other turtles? Or perhaps it will be kind of a reflection of the first movie with Raphael helping/saving April?

Maybe that's not a big deal to you, but being a big Raphael fan I do find that maybe a bit interesting. And not in a "bad" or "complaining" matter.

(And thus why I added the 'i'm sure I'm looking too much into it')

So if you're going to use something I say in a complaint of yours, at least get the facts straight.

I'm not really sure how any of those linked articles should put anyones mind at ease.

Of course Bay and Richson and wheoever else is going to defend and support the movie and tell us "it's good...honest" why wouldn't they?

It's not like they are going to trash their own movie. Kind of like every voice actor to play a turtle claims to have been a big fan and conveniently the turtle they are voicing to always be their favourite. It's just the way these things work.

I'd even go as far as to say that they probably believe it to be good and that fans should love it. I bet the same people who Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation thought the same. There's just no reason for us to think we'll love it. If they gave us some actual info about the movie like; is it serious? comedic? are the turtles aliens etc? Instead we've got nothing other than that leaked script, some questionable casting choices and Bay's reputation to go on.

Changing the name to simply "Ninja Turtles" would ordinarily have not been met with such vitriol had it not been for the fact that it sent alarm bells about the alien issue. This could be a good sign but given who we are dealing with I'm taking nothing for granted. I wouldn't say the presence of the word 'mutant' in the title definitely means they wont be aliens or even that its anything but one working title for the movie.

A more important point however is that the turtles being aliens was not the only thing wrong with that leaked script. Colonel Schrader, the focus on Casey and April and the overall tone of it all.

As pointed out it does seem that certain elements from that script have survived which suggests they may have just altered and tweaked a few aspects in hopes it would make it more palatable to fans. I appreciate that they are working to deadlines but the whole thing should have been chucked and started over.

I still have a smidgen of an open mind about this movie but realisticaly I hope they are punking us and the whole thing was a big PR stunt to get people stirred up and talking about the movie.

Considering Paramount are hoping for this to be their new franchise, I would think (and seriously hope!) that the fact they are using "Mutant" in the title as an indication they won't be aliens. I think since the Nick Toon came out after the script leaked and has become quite popular they may be trying to keep it similar, to make it more accessible to the younger audiences watching it. But, as you say it could be another working title.

A more important point however is that the turtles being aliens was not the only thing wrong with that leaked script. Colonel Schrader, the focus on Casey and April and the overall tone of it all.

I absolutely agree. Schrader was an insult to the entire franchise and the focous on Casey and April was too similar to Transformers.
I will say this though, I think Fox is too old to play the April in that leaked script and would assume those characters have changed a bit. Especially as we don't have casting news on Casey and in the recent Alan Ritchson interview he implied it was just him and Fox running around Manhattan, not all the Turtles and April. There hasn't been a mention of Casey yet. Hopefully his involvement is similar to that of the 1990 film.

I still have a smidgen of an open mind about this movie but realisticaly I hope they are punking us and the whole thing was a big PR stunt to get people stirred up and talking about the movie.

I am trying to read into all the news we are getting on this film in a positive manner. But god, have I had that PR thought before! The leaked script seemed ridiculous enough for it to be a hoax. But also, a bit too elaborate.

Here's hoping it all works out well!

Especially as we don't have casting news on Casey and in the recent Alan Ritchson interview he implied it was just him and Fox running around Manhattan, not all the Turtles and April. There hasn't been a mention of Casey yet. Hopefully his involvement is similar to that of the 1990 film.

I am trying to read into all the news we are getting on this film in a positive manner. But god, have I had that PR thought before! The leaked script seemed ridiculous enough for it to be a hoax. But also, a bit too elaborate.

Here's hoping it all works out well!

Everything that I know or have heard about this film makes me wish that it would never see the light of day. Then I think about the History of TMNT and sometimes you have to get past a Next Mutation or a Turtles III. It is what it is i guess. I feel like this film is just going to be another one of those. Actually I have no doubt that it will be. We got a great new toon and comic out of the whole thing so I guess two out of three.

Agreed, althought, this is how non-turtle fans are going to see turtles, like some non-fans see them as pizza eating surfer turtles. People will see how much the movie will suck, and think that the turtles suck

I know it seems that way but look at it objectively. The people that go see the film with passing interest will already forget about it by the time the next crappy movie comes out. Those people are take it or leave it anyways so who cares if they like it or not IMO. It sucks because this should be for the fans not the mainstream public. However it is clear that the film makers do not care one bit about the fan base. So the best way I have found to deal with it is ignore it. I am use to this as I act like the Star Wars prequels and the last Batman film never happened. I will just do the same with Bay's TMNT. Hopefully someone a true fan will write a script and a real TMNT film can be made. Till then I will only recognize the first TMNT movie as the definitive one.

And with this movie's budget, it has be PG-13. That means this is going to be the first TMNT that a lot of fans have seen since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, OT, or 4Kids, depending on their age. On the subject of Bad Boys, they're really fun and crazy action comedies. They're dumb but they're dumb in that really awesome way. Crap is popping off constantly.

Probably the most tolerable Martin has ever been outside of Blue Streak and his TV Show. Will Smith is Will Smith.

Bad Boys 2 is the most “wrongest” right film of all time. Really, it’s a high budget Troma film. Michael Bay needs to direct a remake of The Toxic Avenger. I'm convinced that would be his magnum opus.

I actually do enjoy The Rock & Bad Boys 1 and 2. And I'll even go the extra mile on this.

If Michael Bay really was directing this Ninja Turtles film, and just wanted to do a 'batsh*t crazy, pushing it to the top and over it' like Bad Boys 2, then I'd be like "okay...that's f*cked up but I'll give it a watch."

Hell, he could do that movie and just have Raphael (like Will Smith) and Mikey (like Martin Lawrence) spitting out dialogue to each other like those 2 did in the Bad Boys films.

As for the film itself, I know I've been extremely negative on it because it's just hard for me to trust the Hollywood machine. Especially with properties I enjoy.

I'm not really asking for much in this new film. If it:

*has the Turtles as the Actual stars of the movie (and not do a Casey/April story and the Turtles are in the background.)
*gives Raphael some memorable action/fight sequences (I'm a Raph guy, what can I say).
*stays away from bathroom/drug humor that you sometimes saw in the Transformers flicks
*I'd like to see some fun back and forth between Raphael and Mikey...I think you can do some great stuff with that dynamic.

Then that's it! That's all I really ask.

Obviously until I see the film, I can't see whether that happens or not.

But to Mr. Liebesman, Mr. Bay, and the creative control of this flick. Are those 4 things really too much to ask? I'll find out next year.

Jester

I can understand that. It's hard to have faith in Hollywood when the game "Would You Rather" is actually a viable premise for a freakin' horror movie.

Wow, really...

And now they're remaking Weird Science and Cujo. Do those really need a remake?

But again, I would LOVE to be proven wrong. Honestly that'd be the best feeling in the world to me. To go see a film and be like "yeah, you know what? You got me and I was heavily impressed."

That's how I felt when I saw Dredd 3D in the theaters.

But more often than not, I feel the exact opposite.

So yeah, to Hollywood and the creative forces of this new film. That's all I ask. The Turtles front and center, well done fight sequences (especially with my fave Raph), some fun banter between Raphael and Mikey (cause I think that can work extremely well and was something I was saddened that they didn't do much with in the 2007 CGI movie), and no bathroom/belching/drug humor. It's not needed.

Just those 4 things Mr. Bay, and Mr. Liebesman...that's all.

They haven't made too many films that I could honestly say I "loved" in recent years. But I know most will disagree, but hey that's just my opinion.

My point stands is that all I'd ask for is those 4 things in the new movie, and honestly I don't think that's too much to ask for this new film.

They usually don't release concept art until the film comes out. Sometimes they will release unused designs just before the film comes out. I have talked to a few people that worked in the art department and the whole thing is tight under wraps. The first look that we will get of the Turtles is going to be in a trailer or on a poster.

Okay, while I too hate the alien angle, let me pose a question here, to think about;

-If they were to drop the whole 'alien turtle' angle from the script, along with Shredder 'growing his spikes out of his body' and instead making it a high tech suit of armor that can disguise a human Oruku Saki as 'colenel Schrader', (That would be feasible way to create the Shredder name, Mikey coining it out of Scrader when he sees the spikes) Could not the rest of the plot work?

Sure, it's a bit diffrent than what we've seen before, (with a s;ight more focus on Casey and April) but except for the April/Casey relationship, what we basically end up with here is a more serious version of the OT. (And I'm sure Shredder, Rocksteady and Bebop survived that electric fence from the Script)

The 'alien angle' was so important to the plot of this script, that if they dropped it, I would expect the whole plot to be rewritten as well. The origin was not something that could just be swapped out.

And Colonel Schrader was not Shredder. He didn't have the story or history of Shredder. To turn Schrader into Shredder would be an even larger disservice to the character than it already is.

Aside from those two things, and crappy dialogue that I'm sure actors and directors would change, I think it's a solid flick.

But don't get me wrong, I would not change those two things unless I was going to rewrite the whole movie.

I disagree, I could easily see these Turtles and Splinter, Rocksteady and Bebop being the results of experimentation with ooze by Shredder before the invasion was to begin. The alien thing seemed really out of nowhere when Splinter dropped that little tidbit, and all you'd really lose from the script is the visit to the turtle planet, the Prophecy, and the returning turtle aliens they bring back with them. The focus, instead of being on the stupid prophecy that came out of nowhere, is how these four mutants born of Krang's experimentation now stand in the way of his invasion.

And Shredder pulled stuff in the OT like this all the time. Pretending to be a colonel in the military really isn't that much of a stretch.

Maybe it's not a crazy thing for him to do, but Schrader lacked all of the history Shredder had with Hamato Yoshi. He was never Shredder. Fine. Then I'll change it to I think a rewrite with a focus on a Krang invasion plot- Krang allied with Shredder with Rocksteady and Bebop under him- could work as a good movie plot over the alien junk.

My ideal movie plot would be an adaptation of the Fred Wold into miniseries of the OT, with the Baxter and Neutrino episodes removed, that would make an excellent film. Better than a 1990 film/ Mirage origin/Return to new york smooshed together retread.
