I've been wondering could a person really live in the sewer like the ninja turtles? I've seen how they hook up TV's and computer's lol and it makes me wonder if a person really could hook all that stuff up.

There are homeless people who live in the New York sewers and tunnels. Doubt it's as glamorous as the turtles homes...

Yes but it's not as glamorous as the show

Indeed but the odds of it being as glamorous as they make it seem...

If you had the money for supplies, the know-how for tapping into existing power lines, and the nasal awareness of a 100 year old man, I have no doubt you could set up something livable and somewhat similar to the lair down there. Now whether or not the power co would send someone down to see what was leeching power is another question.

I don't see how that's possible. I know I could never live there.

Im sure its possible but like said before the power companies will eventually find you.
However the thing Ive always wondered was, wouldn't it stink like "human waste" (to put it nicely)? Yet the water is usually clear and/or they just don't mind the smell, lol.
Thats one thing thats never made sense about the turtles. To have them live in the sewer.

A TV is out of the question. I would just bring board games, a game boy, and some comics in the sewer. Just hope you don't run into a rat obsessed hobo in rags and you will probably be alright

I'd say you can live there. It would smell, though. Personally, I like the old subway station in the new show, it would be more comfortable to live in.

It's very possible. I've seen articles and books on the very topic. Plus, say the disinfranchised individual had even a rudimentary knowledge of survival skills and the creativity to apply them, they could increase their level of comfort.
There's books on the subject of homeless living underground, I believe one's actual titled new york underground, or something similar.

Sure now adays it wouldn't work. But up until a few years ago you didn't need cable to watch tv, just a pair of rabbit ears and you could get at least 3 channels.

Why would anyone want to live in a sewer?
I prefer clean places.

not all sewers are for nasty stinky human waste. Some seweres are used as transporting and housing clean drinking water and eletrical wiring under the foundations of buildings and even have underground rivers running through them from outside. These places are not that filthy and wouldn't be near the areas of the sewers that house human waste so they wouldn't smell.

Of course, if there's space, you could live there. And I could see the subway thing. But what about the 'sewer den?' I mean, they didn't just build rooms in the sewers, did they? A den like in the original cartoon and movies would totally flood as soon as hurricane season hit.

Probably because watching the cartoons have tricked people into thinking that sewers are clean and pleasant places to live in.

It certainly would not suit someone who has a fear of rats and roaches. Even the areas that wouldn't stink would be infested with them.
