Depends on the age difference. This is the youngest April yet, I'd prefer Casey not to be a teenager, and if he's older I don't want to see any age ain't nothin but a number type romance, nor do I think nick will allow it.

Normally April and Casey have been one my favorite TMNT couples ever, and before the series started I totally looked forward to it. However, now because of Don...ugh. I absolutely hate Don and April together, and I have this nasty feeling that if Casey becomes a love interest it's going to turn into some weird triangle/competition/etc. between the three of them that the series will focus on even more. So not what I need to see. If Don gets over his crush on her by the time Casey shows up and the only weirdness is the typical stubbornness between April and Case then I'm cool with that, but I seriously doubt it. Kind of sucks since this whole AprilxDon thing seems to be tainting a lot of what I usually love from these characters.

This pretty much sums it up for me.

If I had to choose one, I'd say yes, but only if it's handled well - I've mentioned before I'm not a huge fan of romance in TMNT. Had the Donnie/April thing been handled better, I'd probably say no, but Donnie's crush has worn pretty thin on me as the series has gone on. Of course, as others have mentioned, this could potentially lead to a love triangle, and that I really would not be looking forward to...

I vote to give April more personality without needing to be paired with anyone.

If April is sixteen and Casey is eighteen, then he's an adult and she's a minor. Usually if a minor and an adult have sex, it's called statutory rape. I know there won't be sex is this show, but that's how people would see it.

Yes, but it was one long entertained by the Archie and classic cartoons and in this day and age it's not novel and it's increasingly dated, boring, and limits the storytelling possibilities. To us older audiences, the whole "sons of the silent age" angle from the comics just becomes a depressing notion as we age...as many of us feel like we can relate to these guys never getting lucky because of a condition or a place in society. We want these guys to find hapiness in some form and the idea of that someone being their closest female friend is very appealing and offers more scope in storytelling than pairing them with characters not a lot are familiar with. I can count how many cared for Leo and Radical on one hand for instance, where as far more people prefer Leo with Karai, aka a long-running character who has carried over from comics to film to television.

Eventually, we likely are going to see fully receprecated romances between the Turtles and female characters we know in future shows, movies, and comics and I don't think that would be a bad thing at all. I used to be opposed to it back in the day, but since I've started writing it, I've found it quite endearing.

Now that I think about it, it does sometimes make the series boring. Maybe she should date Casey on and off before she decides she loves him in the end. I don't know. This may be a new take on April's character, but the best thing you have to do is make her stay true to the character she is/was.

To be honest, I'm not really fussed about Casey Jones.

I know very little of him during OT, never seen an episode of him. I've never seen a pic of him and OT April together either.

And when I played TMNT 2 arcade game, I thought this was Casey (the Shogun boss), though I did find it weird he's a robot with his head flying about. His weapon seemed like a hockey stick to me lol.

And in 2k3, I didn't like him much. He seemed like a stereotype brainless jock; the way he talks doesn't help either.

In TMNT 2007, he's just there, not having much action. The one in the first movie is okay, not too crazy about it. The Mirage comic have them married but then April left him "when she learned that she is not human and is a product of the Kirby warp pen" (*gasp* look what I've stumbled on wiki! This could be a trait for Nick's April as well..and Kirby being April's father name.. oooh).


Overall, I hope Nick can bring something new and appealing Casey in Season 2. :) Maybe April doesn't have to fall for Casey, I'm all for different direction. She could work it out with Donnie.

It provided some good comedy moments in 2k3 (like Splinter suggesting flowers) but I don't watch TMNT for the romance. Fans of the older stuff like to gravitate to the tragic aspects of the Turtles existence...that they are the only ones of their kind and can't breed heirs or something, thus they find the idea of a romantic pursuit pretty pointless in the long run (I contest thsi of cours,e you don't need to have babies if you fall in love with someone. Some couples go their whole lives without kids)

Some also see the TMNT as just an action/adventure franchise that neednt bother with such tropes and that the Turtles are all about their teachings and ethics than about mushy crushes.

For me it's not a matter of I don't want the Turtles to find love, I just don't really want romance to be a focus in TMNT. When done well, I don't mind romance, but when handled poorly, it's really distracting for me so I'd rather it be more background than front and center. I like TMNT for other reasons, and you get romance in a lot of other stuff.

Now, in regards to the situation with Donnie and April, I didn't mind it so much at first, but Donnie has just gotten a bit too obsessed as the show has gone on. Had it been more subtle, I wouldn't have cared if Donnie/April had actually happened, but now I can't help but hope that maybe Casey's introduction will be the start of not only Donnie getting over his crush but April actually interacting with more characters.

My problem with romance especially in Western media and especially when we already have 20 min episodes where we are trying to squeeze in way too much plot that it already seems rushed it that when characters start falling in love for some reason it seems like the romance then takes over the ENTIRE freaking plot of the story and that nothing else matters. It's what irks me the most about media in the USA as we seem to be one of the worst offenders in it within the concepts of our writing.

Don't get me wrong I will love a good romantic story and ship at times as much as the next female out there. But I usually start a show because I know it has romantic elements and I am looking forward to seeing that development. I would mind romance if I didn't feel like it would then take over everything else. Even Donnie with April in this cartoon, his crush on her has been more then 75% of his character and his development in this series. People keep complaining we don't see enough of Don interacting with his other brothers well when they need to fit in some kind of Don with April or Don obsessing over April scene into each 22 min episode it's hard to also fit in a Don with brother scene.

I don't want romance because I don't want it taking over the plot of the show. That was part of the reason I liked the way they handled April and Casey in 4Kids. You knew how much the two of them meant to one other, but it never over shadowed the guys and the insanity they are often dealing with.

I feel like the last few weeks the show has been more about Don and April or Leo and Karai and less about well, anything else the Turtles have been doing. It's not that I want the guys alone but I want to see something developed that it doesn't have to completely change the background and spirit of the franchise and show just so they can have girlfriends.

Turtles has always been first and foremost about the brotherhood between the characters if we have to loose that so we can have luv then no I am not interested.

If the action/adventure and family themes starting taking a backseat to the romance aspects, then it will lose a tremendous amount of viewers because romance is NOT what viewers tune into when watching or reading TMNT.

It's not that I want the guys alone but I want to see something developed that it doesn't have to completely change the background and spirit of the franchise and show just so they can have girlfriends.


:lol: There's a LOT of fanfic stories and deviantart fanworks that have forgotten that. It's one of the reasons why I'm somewhat critical in reading shipping stories initially... Don't even get me started on the Mary-Sues and weak, defenseless female love-interests that "need a man" to fulfill their lives. :lol:

Those two hardly showed up in that series. In fact, I feel Leatherhead, Honeycutt and The Ancient One had more important dynamic family members of the Turtles as the series went on than those two.
