I'm going to be legit about this and say that I actually have a feeling Ritchson may not be enough Raph.
Hopefully though, I will be surprised. The guy is an actor for a reason.

This maybe a bit off-topic since this is dealing with the character depiction than the actor himself, but that's an interesting question Cipher. Will he be more-laid back and sarcastic like the Fred Wolf series (okay maybe not that extreme, but more crudely sarcastic) or will he be much more hot-headed and aggressive (in the 2007 movie and comic versions)?
It's interesting how each reinterpretation chooses Raphael's short-temper and fiery personality to be channeled, and how intense in terms of sarcastic humor, combative aggression, or both.

Maybe more like the Nick version. He's like a mix of sarcastic Raph and anger Raph, but to neither extreme.

If there's one thing I like about Asten's Raph is that it's a good blending of the more sarcastic Raph I grew up with and the hot head from everything buy the FW series.
I hope Movie Raph can learn from the Nick Raph.

I have a gut feeling this guy can pull it off. I do prefer the rebellious hothead to the sarcasm. My favorite Raphs are the movie ones - especially 2007.
I loved the idea of Raphael fighting crime even when he wasn't supposed to, because it was there. It wasn't just about cracking heads, but I like that about Raph, too. It's funny that 2007 just put Raph and Casey together and implied that they used to run around looking for trouble, and I just accepted it, like, "Of course that's what they did," even though I had never actually seen that happen. It just felt right. Then they brought that to IDW.
It may have originated somewhere else. Anybody know?

Raph and Casey having buddy vigilante nights?
In addition to providing the ending beat for the original Raphael micro-series, it was a favorite subject of Eastman's for one-offs and back-up stories. ("Radical 'n' Complete Carnage," "Fun With Guns" and "Bodycount" off the top of my head.)
So it didn't actually show up very often, but I guess the characters were always so close that the idea just stuck even when it wasn't actively shown.

I've only read volumes 1-3 of the 'Ultimate Collection' re-releases. So, up through 'Return to New York,' and I think they're only the Eastman and/or Laird issues.
I'm really hoping it goes that way on Nick.

Typical angst is all what Raph needs. Think Wolverine on his period.

As long as he has anger issues, that's enough Raph for me.

I think he's going to be all Raph, all the time. Unless for some reason they decide to make him Michaelangelo.
Seriously though, I'm hoping he's Nickish. I really dig the combination of smart-assed and short-tempered they've accomplished for the Nick series. Some of his other incarnations depict him as a little too thick.

A little too Raph is clearly the only appropriate answer for anything in the history of ever. Duh.
To this day, I can quote that scene almost verbatim heh. I always think of it right away when someone says it's too quiet. I can't help but go 'Yeah...a little too quiet' and see if they pick up on it. When they do, they have won my love/respect/whatever. :P
In all seriousness though - I'unno. I need to see what this actor is capable of first to really judge. I still have very slight hopes for some elements of the movie, hopefully there'll be some stuff that won't let me down.

Personally I hope that they go more with the 'aggressive, loner, angry' route.
But if they do go with the more 'sarcastic humor' turtle and less of the 'angry, hot-headed, aggressive turtle...well...
A New Yorker with a sarcastic/smart-ass mouth but also a badass? Why not have Raph take a page from another sarcastic/smart-ass New Yorker/badass...

I for one hope he's similar to the original movie Raphaels, or the new Nick one. Either a sorta cold loner, or a bully with a good heart.
If the film goes the route most fear it will, where things are bastardized and unnecessarily modernized, then he'll be terribly 'edgy' and annoyingly mad. Just looking like a butthurt roidrage fool, which I'd really hate. I'm just really not into that played out bad boy stuff.

This, I hope we get a Raph that know the master of snark as well as having a bit of a temper.

I would enjoy a Raph that is somewhere between the OT Raph and the young Cynical Raph from the Nick show.
I was not a fan of the Angry Bronx Accent Raph from the movies, I thought it was a little over the top, I mean the TMNT are about 15 yr old, they can be moody but the way they portrayed him in the 1990 was almost like Frank Castle or someone who's whole family has been murdered.
honestly Raph in the movies was a dick and the animated Raphs are a little more likable.
I like his aggressiveness and cynicism but we don't need to make him too serious and angry for no reason....

Since the movie looks to be OT based I hope we get a largely OT Raph with a dash of Nick Raph, since Nick Raph is a good balance angry and sarcastic.

I believe Raph will be voice by the actor whose playing him in the Motion Capture Suits, If you noticed, They had cameras mounted on them to recorded there face and dialogue.

All or nothing. With the exact same upbringing there's no reason one turtle would have an accent and the others wouldn't.
Considering they (usually, at least) spend most of their life being taught everything by someone of Japanese descent, if anything, they should have a slight Japanese accent.

No no no New York accent, it's cheesey and none of the other turtles talk like that. Nick has a PERFECT voice cast for 15 turtles.
Why not just use the Nick voice actors in the film?
If you have Raph with a thick NY accent then you HAVe to have mikey talk and sound exactly like The OT.
And please god NO Cirey Feldman as Donnie.
FYI i bet my car that the motion capture actods are just that, voices will be other people.

I hope the entire movie can learn from the entire Nickelodeon show.
But yeah, I'm hoping for "A Little Too Raph" this time out.....or a mix between "The One Movie" lol, and the CGI movie....I wish all of the CGI's Raph's badass-ery can be translated in live action. ...and I like how the first movie's Raph was pretty tough but extremely sensitive to Splinter. The way he shook his hand and hugged him on the rooftop at the end of the first movie.......*smiles* and the whole "Raphael.....come sit by me..." scene.
