Hey maybe we can sticky this topic as an ideas thread? Since not everyone here is too excited about Bay and the TMNT, I thought that I would throw some suggestions for the new movie I had. This could be a creative way to express concepts for the new movie even though it probably might not happen, but what the heck, I want to have some fun. Anyway here's what I would want to see.
I think the new TMNT movie could go to 4 movies if done right over the next couple of years. I know these ideas have been mentioned before, but it would be dark and more mature like the Mirage comics. In fact you might say it would be basically the Mirage stories in movie form.
Spoilers ahead from the Mirage comics
Movie 1:
Movie 1 would start with a prologue starting with TMNT #9 "The Passing." It would be a different approach to introducing the TMNT in a movie, I really like the Passing because it can show the turtles before they got their signature weapons and it could really give Splinter's character the spotlight from the beginning for a change. Movie 1 would rely on strictly an origins tale focusing on Mirage #1 which would be next after the TMNT help Hattori in The Passing.
I would strictly focus on just the Turtles, Splinter and Shredder. You could show Shredder growing up, his hatred growing as well. And yes, Shredder dies in this movie in the end just like the first comic. And that's how movie 1 ends.
No April or Casey until movie 2 at least.
Movie 2
Movie 2 brings in Casey April and Baxter Stockman. And it's more sci fi like the next comics that followed.
We start with "Me Myself and I" bringing in Casey Jones.
Next "TMNT vs The Mousers" where we meet April and Baxter. Then it shows them "escaping in the van" from Stockman and Splinter discovers he was saved by the TCRI utroms! The "TMNT try to rescue Splinter" from the TCRI labs when they take the Trans dimensional portal to the "Triceratons home world" where they fight the Triceratons in a colliseum like setting as the final battle in this movie. Then they are transported back to the TCRI, where "all is revealed" by the Utoms as a peaceful race and the Turtles are reunited with Splinter. Meanwhile the news and SWAT teams are outside the TCRI building trying to get in. Everyone gets home at the last minute before it is too late.
As you can see these two films follow the comics exactly. Movie 1 is like Batman Begins, kind of like a slow burn. We have enough there IMO to keep fans entertained. In Movie 2 we have the Turtles trying to deal without their father and Master, Splinter.

The first movie would be super boring and the second one would be way too try-hard. You can't cram all of that in at once and expect something solid to come out.

So movie 2 reinforces how important Splinter is as a father figure to the TMNT. And the idea of him missing in it until the end when they are reunited makes it a happy ending. Until they are confronted by their past, and in comes Movie 3.
Movie 3
In this movie, it brings in the debuts of Rat King and Nobody. We kick off with the Leo one shot, "What goes around, comes around," Leo utters Shredder's return. Casey comes back in "Silent Partner" when he fights Shredder, almost like the 1990 movie. Then we get the North Hampton move in "True Stories." Also in North Hampton we see two tales unfold "Nobody's Fool" and "I Monster." This triggers the close of the movie with "Return to NY Parts 1-3." Where we get the final battle between the TMNT and Shredder.
Nobody and Rat King are significant in this movie because of what is to come in the final movie. I realize this is a lot, but hey I think the TMNT should get the Nolan Batman treatment.
Movie 4
This is it, the main focus is on the TMNT , Casey, April and Splinter struggling to stay together, but their bond is stronger than ever despite all that happens to them here.
We start with "Shades of Grey Parts 1-2." Here Casey is forced to deal with the consequences of his actions and with Nobody(hence why Nobody is in the 3rd movie) Nobody can relate to Casey because of the events that happened in Nobody's Fool. And then you basically follow that with the "City at War" storyline. Here we see Karai and Rat King's return. This would probably be the longest movie out of the 4.

LOL, exactly Stryker! :D
For every single devoted TMNT fan who is disgruntled by the film's direction, there are 100 others (from the general public and casual fans) who will see the movie for mental deviation just as mere entertainment from their busy work lives. The Transformers movie film franchise is proof of that, as much as hardcore fans were griping about it, the rest of the public cared less about it as shown by the box office numbers. ...And that's all the entertainment companies care about.
It's like fast food, everybody knows its not good for you (horrible movies), but yet the general public keeps on consuming it (watching and paying for those horrible movies). If the people want cheap, processed, unhealthy food all the time (horrible movies), then that's what the fast food restaurants (entertainment companies) will give the public.

You know, whatever source you adapt from- be it Mirage OR the OT OR 2K3, whatever villian you choose, however a film maker wants to spin the origin, and whatever tone they shoot for... the one thing I do not want to see is the panel for-panel retelling of Mirage 1 so many seem to think would be the 'ultimate' TMNT movie. I saw a smooshed together Mirage #1/Return to New York in 1990, we don't need the same boring drek again! Please, put a new spin on it!

If I was trying to make the most successful TMNT movie possible, I'd use Krang, the Technodrome, Bebop and Rocksteady, mousers, the portal to Dimension X - all that. Robot foot soldiers, too, so the turtles can go all out with their weapons, unrestricted by goriness.
Essentially a big budget, PG-13 adaptation of the first season of OT. It'd send the nostalgia factor through the roof, set the movie apart from the old ones, and allow for big budget scifi action. Screw trying to make things serious, or real-world. This would be unashamed ridiculousness, and no one could take it seriously.

Nostalgia alone will not make a hit movie.
Pretty much everyone agreed there had to be some split in inspiration taken from the original Mirage books and Fred Wolf cartoon. The question is to just what degree - The new movie solved this problem by taking nothing substantial from either. Genius.
Y'know whats funny? For the small minority that believe the franchise is worth little more than nostagia and think the Fred Wolf show is the the be all and end all? They are likely getting everything they want, it just wont be in a way thats recognisable or likeable to them. They'll probably be the most disapointed of all.
Y'know what else is funny? When Bay caused the huge furore over the turtles being aliens his initial defence was that people hadn't seen the great script they had. Then we saw it and pretty much everyone thought it was crap. So instead of ditching it they tweak it. Hilarious.

first, and most important, Joe Cornish should direct, i would take much stuff from new comics and fuse them with mirage comics.
it should start in ancient japan where Hamato Joshi refuses to work for Oroku saki which leads to him and his children being murdered in the night after the title credits it should cut to the lab where April as an intern is working for Baxter Stockman, i wouldn't have krang until the second movie, Shredder should be the main villain and when he is defeated at the end he should take the Baxter to help him beat the turtles, Raph should be lost when they are mutated, which explains his anger, it would be pretty much an adaption of modern comics with tome similar to the original... ii could keep writining eternity hear but better to end it hear, just watch attack the block that movie has an ideal tmnt tone,,,

As someone who grew up with the Turtles back the 80s, I'm not one of those hardcore fans that would choose something over anything else. I'm a fan of a lot of things and I even tolerate the changes they would make to them to appeal to a modern audience. When getting older, You want something that appeals to your age.
Judging from what they are doing with the new movie. They are pandering to those who grew up from the 80s series by bringing back old characters, and make it work for modern audience.
If you look at the recent Star Trek movies. Those were made strictly for audiences who never seen the TV Shows or Movies, So this new TMNT movie is going to appeal to a broader audience.

Movie 1
Starts with an origin story of the turtles being told by splinter. Shows title of movie (in a cool font of course). Cuts to casey in a hockey mask taking down purple dragons and while he is about to kill one the turtles bust in and stop him. You only hear turtles voices and see silouhettes. Then it goes to the turtles intro in the original movie. When they come home they talk to splinter order a pizza and then Leo and raph go off to train. They see april getting robbed and jump on to help. April catches a video of the turtles being shes a reporter and is going to broadcast it. The foot were the ones attacking her trying to get old videos of them from her. They kidnap april and the turtles go save her. Turtles vs foot like in darkness at the edge of town or something from 2k3 in aprils house then as mikey gets knocked out casey comes to help. They all go back to the turtles lair when they get away and plan a final strike on the foot. Shredder appears at this final battle and tells his story before getting killed by Splinter dropping him movie 1 style.
Movie 2
Starts off training like things change of 2k3 but then they see on tv odd sightings in new york sewers and fear they must move but when they look for a new place they find sho'kanoabo's ship and go inside and dons new invention somehow turned viral on who revived sho'kanabo. Don thinks its all his fault they got revived and the turtles feel its theyre responsibility to destroy them before they turn earth into kanabos. more idk if anyone wants to add on thatd be cool.

:tlol: I've already seen it a ton... :tsmile: Those episodes are 20 minutes each, all three eps combining an hour... I'd like it as a feature length story too though. I enjoyed seeing how the 4kids TMNT made unique versions of the old stories from Mirage, and I'd still like to see more. I never did like how the show ended. Honestly, it would've been cool to see other movies besides just Turtles Forever.

I wouldn't mind seeing a PG-13 version of the IDW comic. I think the general public would eat that **** up and the hardcore fans already like it.
