   As a supreme cat-creature from outer space, I have much zen-ish, splinter-style wisdom which it is my obligation to share with the world (or at least my fellow tmnt fans), so this is where I will post it. Hear my vast wisdom: if you come across a blue mango, do a background check on it first! It may be Azure's cousin!

Loolaa

*sits cross legged at Tinselcat's feet awaiting more wisdom*

azure turtle
05-26-2002, 09:01 PM
Bah, none of my cousins look like mangos.

My wise word for the day: Ta-bet-te!

*I really do neeeed sleep!*

*slowly repeats HT's wise words*
Ta-bet-le... ta-bet-le.... ???

*looks confused*

:???:

Ta-bet-te? Sounds like a magic spell :anime: Which language is that?

Deskjet Shredder
05-27-2002, 12:37 AM
Okay, here is my wisdom
Shakespeare once said: "Life is a game". In this case, where are the "Setup Options"? Where's the source code? After all, does anyone know the cheat codes?
Oh, well... Please, pay no attention to the crazy programmer :goofygri:

HorseTechie

*snert* 'Tabette' is Japanese for 'eat'. That word is the command form, while the formal form of it is 'ta-be-masu' and the informal is 'ta-be-ru'.

Loolaa
05-27-2002, 02:51 PM
 Ah... now I know.....

azure turtle
05-27-2002, 03:39 PM
Yes, o mighty tribal elder!
*begins to eat mango cake*

HorseTechie
05-27-2002, 08:57 PM
Mm... and other saying I tend to hold fast too in RL...

"A crumb from the rich man's table is far better than a poor man's feast."

azure turtle
05-27-2002, 09:02 PM
LOL! That saying seems to hold the truth. Goodness, TC...looks like you've got lots of other wise ones here. :anime:

Loolaa
05-28-2002, 12:25 AM
Heheh Tinselcat, looks like you've got competition for wise one of the board...

*Splinter saunters in*

Splinter: Now you have even more competition!!
*twirls his whiskers around a claw..*

Tinselcat
05-28-2002, 04:25 PM
*Walks in in bhuddist monk's robes and sits in lotus position on the ground* thank you for coming, my children. you see that an enlightened mind is the key to reaching nirvana. here is my wisdom, for you to meditate over: mango tabemasuka? *sees splinter with hostile look on his face* woops, gotta go, catch ya later! *hikes up skirts and scuttles away*

azure turtle
05-28-2002, 05:23 PM
*blinks*
Huh? :???:

HorseTechie
05-28-2002, 05:46 PM
*HT wrinkles her face* Mango wa, tabemasen... *turns to Azure and gives it to him instead* Doozo!

azure turtle
05-28-2002, 07:42 PM
Hmm...
*sniffs the food HT handed to him*
Well...it definitely smells good...
*wonders if it's safe to eat*

enigma-1

Old Taloncrest Proverb: Never doubt taste, but above all never doubt scent. It is the key to survival.

Tinselcat
05-29-2002, 05:21 AM
tabemasendesuka?! mango o totemo iidesu! *sees splinter advancing, swinging his walking stick* eeeek! arigato, tomodachi! *continues running*

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 06:08 AM
*chuckles* Enigma Proverb: Never mess with the rat who carries a big stick and has good aim.

Kali

*blinks* I really need to learn Japanese.

Loolaa
05-29-2002, 10:49 AM
Yeah, I was thinking I need to as well..

azure turtle
05-29-2002, 12:46 PM
*pouts*
Me too...

HorseTechie
05-29-2002, 03:08 PM
 Am I the only one who knows what TC said?

Kali
05-29-2002, 03:53 PM
Most likely. I mean, I could pick out a few words, but not enough to get an idea of what she said. Can we get a translation?

Tinselcat
05-29-2002, 04:26 PM
Wisdom of the day: translation: i said "do you eat mangos?" then ht said "no, i don't eat mangos" then i said "you don't eat them?! mangos are very good!" ya, i think that about sums it up. hmmm, it seems i should have more wisdom today... eh, i'll get on the forum later when i think of some. err, give me a heads-up if you see splinter, i think i lost him... *glances about nervously*

azure turtle
05-29-2002, 05:02 PM
 I see...it all makes sense now.
*does the happy dance*

Heh.. yeah.. DO NO go into TMNT Genreal Discussion, unless you like to read smuck spam of the lowest form.

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 05:57 PM
I am NOT even going to ask.

HorseTechie
05-29-2002, 06:06 PM
Man.. and he knows that Krang/Shredder have not been on much too. Notice how he stays away from the other areas, cause we're here! Snot-nosed eediots. :flaming:

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 06:09 PM
Isn't there a way to keep him off for good?

HorseTechie
05-29-2002, 06:11 PM
I'm sure Krang has tried.. but we think he gets in through library computers. It's hard to block specific IP addies that way.

A royal way one wastes his skill and intelligence. Making trouble and chaos for others.

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 06:13 PM
You know, at this rate, I may just call in my big guns. I've got a private chat that my friends and I use for RPGs sometimes. If this keeps up, I may just give the addy to Krang/Shredder so they can give it to people who don't cause trouble like this.

Peanut
05-29-2002, 06:18 PM
We need someone who's on alot to take over on that board so Shred and Krang don't have to be on to get rid of it.

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 06:22 PM
Yeah, but who? Those who already come on a lot have their hands full w/ other forums. It's not fair to ask them to do anymore.

Peanut
05-29-2002, 06:23 PM
Me and another guy used to be on constantly. We'd never get off. Too bad he's not still around.

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 06:25 PM
I'll help out if I can, but I'm usually only on at night. The line needs to stay open during the day, so I can't do much then.

Peanut
05-29-2002, 06:25 PM
I was usually here in the early morning. 11:30 to 12:30 and then usually from 5 or 6 to 1 or 2 sometimes 3.

enigma-1
05-29-2002, 06:27 PM
That could help, but there's still the gaps when he can make trouble. *grumbles*

azure turtle
05-29-2002, 06:51 PM
Grrr...I can't believe that upstart has started spamming yet again. He honestly has nothing better to do.

Krang
05-29-2002, 09:08 PM
He was using a static IP this time, so maybe he changed ISPs. If so, he's gone for good, unless he uses someone else's computer...

BTW, azure, are you interested in being a moderator for GTMNTD? We could use another moderator in case something like that happens again.

Azure as a moderator. That is a SCARY thought. *slaps Azure on the shell* Good luck with that!

azure turtle

You don't think I'd do a good job as a mod?

Kali
05-29-2002, 09:28 PM
*smiles* Aww, I was just joking! Of course I think you'd make a great moderator!

azure turtle

Thanks, Kali! :anime:

Kali
05-30-2002, 09:52 AM
Those gold stars look so pretty!

HorseTechie
05-30-2002, 10:38 AM
*lol* Whow.. nice set of stars there, Azure! I think you'll do a good job as a mod too.

Hrmm.. what will your title be? "The Great Mango Greeter"...? "The One and Only"...? Or better.. "Blue Turtles Rule!" *heehee*

Kali
05-30-2002, 10:44 AM
*giggles* How about "Glomp Victim"? Or maybe "'Fraidy Ninja"?

azure turtle
05-30-2002, 11:18 AM
*gets blinded by the gold stars*
Woah...
*salutes Krang*
Thank you for your confidence, Lord Krang! I shall do my best to serve under the Foot Clan!
*turns to Kali and HT*
I honestly don't know if I want a custom title...but, um...thanks for the suggestions. :embarass:
*mutters*
Fraidy Ninja? Hmph...

HorseTechie
05-30-2002, 11:21 AM
 Fraidy Ninja... *clears throat*

Aww.. you don't want a title? Or even a set of blue or white stars instead?

Kali
05-30-2002, 11:22 AM
*bursts out laughing* Hey, we had to threaten to dump water in your shell to get you to come out yesterday!

HorseTechie
05-30-2002, 11:30 AM
*heeee* I just read! But you know, that always works for my pet turtle. (besides squeezing the back part of her shell) She's such a weenie!

Hrrm... so much for "The Blue Mango"...

azure turtle
05-30-2002, 11:35 AM
*pouts*
But it was dangerous outside! Anywho, I'm okay now. I've recovered! I think I'll come up with something sooner or later.

Machias Banshee
05-30-2002, 01:33 PM
how about 'mutant blue fruit' It works for you AND your blue mangoes! *ducks bappage*

azure turtle
05-30-2002, 05:26 PM
Why I oughtta...!
*resists urge to bap Machias and glomps her instead*

Digs up an interest Korean proverb for the occasion: "Licking the outside of a watermelon."

Which means that you're just scratching the surface, but not dealing with something in depth.

azure turtle

*bows before HT*
Such wise words, great tribal elder! Someday, I shall be full of wisdom too.

Loolaa
05-31-2002, 02:12 AM
I wish I was so wise... :ohwell:

HorseTechie
05-31-2002, 09:52 AM
Aww.. but you don't have to be wise. I'm not (cause I'm looking off of things to get my wisdom) Here's another funny pun I saw on a sign while driving to work today...

"Do frightened rabbits form a receding hare line?"

Tinselcat
05-31-2002, 02:37 PM
*enters the forum, panting and sweating* not only have i been dodging splinter all day, but i've been inhaling polyeurathane fumes all day at work... *sees strange looks coming in her direction* eeerr... *straightenes up and smoothes out bhuddist monk robes, which are at present rather wrinkled and muddy* ahem, today's wisdom is: I have to go now because someone is waiting for a phonecall.

Loolaa
05-31-2002, 02:41 PM
*groans* ,,,receding hair line...
I like Horseabunga! It's a good motto. I saw my collegues horses the other day. Too cute!

Wow Tinselcat... all this running around avoiding Splinter isn't good for you.
He'll get you eventually, y'know

Hareline? Oy TC, perhaps you should just apologize to Sensei so he'll stop chasing you.
*shrugs*

enigma-1
05-31-2002, 06:33 PM
Or she could always take a long vacation till he forgets about it.

Kali
05-31-2002, 06:39 PM
Sensei forget? Yeah, right, good luck with that. I think we need the bath girls. (Image joke)

azure turtle
05-31-2002, 06:39 PM

I have that issue now! I remember seeing it for the first time when SC scanned it for us

enigma-1
05-31-2002, 06:41 PM
I said a LONG vacation, didn't I?

Kali
05-31-2002, 06:46 PM
No way, Splinter remembers everything. I swear he writes it all down.

Kali's wisdom of the day: Going crazy every now and again helps you stay sane.

enigma-1
05-31-2002, 06:48 PM
Hmm. Maybe we should introduce Splinter to Fang sometime. She can't write, but I swear she remembers everything you do, right down the exact second.

That is so true! *runs off to be crazy*

Tinselcat
06-02-2002, 06:31 AM
there ain't no way i'm giving myself up! he'd smash me to a pulp in under 5 minutes! here's some wisdom for the day: she who philosophizes and runs away, lives to philosophize another day! *sits cross-legged on ground and attempts to regain her dignity* all this running around isn't good for my libido! :ohwell:

enigma-1
06-02-2002, 09:46 AM
*shrugs* I could always loan you my spare amulet. Not sure if it would be any help, but you can go anywhere with that thing.

Tinselcat
06-02-2002, 03:53 PM
*perks up* amulet?

enigma-1
06-02-2002, 03:56 PM
*nods* Yep. I have special amulet that allows the wearer to go anywhere they want. But the charge is only good for a few trips before it needs a recharging, so you have to be careful how many times you use it.

azure turtle
06-02-2002, 05:01 PM
*is suddenly reminded of Gutwallow*
Okay, that was awkward. :goofygri:

enigma-1
06-02-2002, 06:22 PM
Um....:???:

Kali
06-02-2002, 08:18 PM
Hey, that could be useful. Hey Azure, what're the coordinents of your bedroom?

enigma-1
06-02-2002, 08:26 PM
Don't need cooridinates for this one. Just say where you want to go, snap your fingers twice and you're there.

Kali
06-02-2002, 08:27 PM
Cool.

enigma-1
06-02-2002, 08:28 PM
But like I said, you have to be careful how many times you use it. Too many times and the charge runs out, leaving you stranded.

Kali
06-02-2002, 08:35 PM
Stranded in Azure's bedroom. Why whatever would I do?

azure turtle
06-02-2002, 09:21 PM
*gasp*
Well, I'd definitely find a new bedroom...

Tinselcat
06-03-2002, 06:03 AM
Kali... and azure... in azure's bedroom... you do realize what that implies...? i think you two have had enough fun with the amulet! besides, my life is in jeapordy here! splinter's on a rampage! can i use it? pleeeeeez? ohpleaseohpleaseohplease??

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 06:35 AM
*nods* But I want it back. I've only got two of these things and they're hard to come by.

*snaps fingers, a gold and silver amulet appearing* There.

Kali
06-03-2002, 09:39 AM
Yeah, go ahead, I don't really need it, I've got shadow walking powers! *goes to make plans*

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 12:15 PM
Nooooo! How can you have shadow walking powers? Impossible!
*withdraws into his shell to make plans of defense*

Kali
06-03-2002, 12:28 PM
*shrugs* It's a demon thing.

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 12:31 PM
Darn! Curse the luck...
*plans on getting infrared cameras set up all around his lair*

Kali
06-03-2002, 12:33 PM
Or you can just make sure there's enough light around.

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 03:35 PM
Hey, good idea!
*writes it down*

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 05:13 PM
*sighs* Honestly, is there ever a time when you two don't torment each other?

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 06:07 PM
*thinks carefully*
Well, there was this one time when Kali was sick and she was on some weird medication. She was really nice to me for two days. Then everything went back to normal.

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 06:16 PM
Oh boy. That's not exactly what I meant.

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 06:48 PM
Huh? :???: Now I'm confused.

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 06:49 PM
I meant was there ever a time, not influenced by medicine or illness, that you guys didn't torment each other.

Kali
06-03-2002, 08:23 PM
But it's fun! And Azure knows I'm just joking around. Why am I explaining my actions to you?

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 08:24 PM
*shrugs* Heck if I know. I just asked a question. I never really expected a straight answer.

Kali
06-03-2002, 08:26 PM
Ah. *shrugs* Well, we don't torment each other really, I'm the one doing all the tormenting around here.

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 08:27 PM
Hmm. You want to torment Oblivion for awhile? Maybe if he met someone who could outdo him, he'd learn to stop playing those pranks.

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 08:30 PM
*snicker*
Kali thinks she's doing all the tormenting in here! I know she's just joking around. Otherwise, I'd be turtle toast.

enigma-1
06-03-2002, 08:32 PM

Tinselcat
06-04-2002, 06:21 AM
wisdome tiiiime! (thanks for the amulet enigma! i havn't gotten K.O.'d yet!) hmmm, lesseee... some wisdom... i'm sitting at the computer, with a towel on my head, and a cup of coffee with waaaay too much sugar in it. what is the meaning of this? meditate on that for awhile until i think of something better...

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 11:59 AM

Loolaa
06-04-2002, 02:24 PM
Yuk... sugary coffee... *pulls face*

Kali
06-04-2002, 02:46 PM
I still prefer Hot Cocoa. Heck, I'll drink straight chocolate syrup if there's nothing else.

Loolaa
06-04-2002, 02:53 PM
Seriously?!

Kali
06-04-2002, 02:56 PM
*nods* If I'm in need of a chocolate fix, yeah. I'm an incurable chocoholic.

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 04:59 PM
Ugh...I can never have chocolate syrup by itself. It always has to go with something, like ice cream.

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 05:02 PM
I'd take it either way if I weren't on a diet. *curses all calories*

HorseTechie
06-04-2002, 06:00 PM
Nah.. I'm a hardcore chocoholic. Choclate syrup, ick... that only has the taste. The main ingredient is corn syrup (which can give me an evil wicked headache if I eat too much of that). Even milk chocolate doesn't please me all the time...

No, I crave the dark, semi sweet chocolate... be it in chips or baking squares! Pure unadulterated chocolate!

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 06:04 PM
Goodness...you all need to be weened off your chocolate addictions.
*eats a chocolate mango*

HorseTechie
06-04-2002, 06:05 PM
*snort*

And you, off your Mango addiction!

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 06:06 PM
She's got you there, Azure. You do seem to have one too many of those things sometimes.

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 06:07 PM
Bah! I'm not addicted to mangoes! I don't know what you're talking about. :goofygri:
*hides the mango behind his back*

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 06:08 PM
*glares at him* Do I need to get another bucket of water to cool you down?

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 06:12 PM
*grabs an umbrella*
Don't you dare!

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 06:13 PM
Keep that up and I'll just put it right in your shell. I can do that ya know. But if you're nice, I won't.

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 06:14 PM
*folds his arms*
Hmph. You complain about Kali and me torturing each other, then you go ahead and torture me
*exits the thread before he gets drenched*

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 06:17 PM
Hmm. Guess I've been hanging around Kali so long that it's rubbed off on me. Go figure.

HorseTechie
06-04-2002, 06:30 PM
Mh... *falls asleep*

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 06:31 PM
*comes back into the thread to see HT sleeping*
Huh? Is it nap time already?
*checks his watch and shrugs*
I guess so.
*withdraws into his shell and goes to sleep*

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 06:37 PM
*shrugs* Well, when in Rome.

*snaps fingers and a hammock appears, lies down and starts getting a few z's*

Samantha
06-04-2002, 08:01 PM
*tip toes into the quiet thread* *whispers* Why is everyone sleeping? *hears no answer so tip toes over to her sleeping bag and dozes off*

enigma-1
06-04-2002, 08:01 PM
Huh? *wakes briefly at hearing something, then zonks out again*

Kali
06-04-2002, 08:35 PM
*looks at all the sleeping posters* Oh, man, I can't pass this up. *wheels out a huge gong*

Wake up call! *winds up and hits the gong with a mallet*

azure turtle
06-04-2002, 10:16 PM
AAAAAHHHHHHHH!
*pops out of his shell, covering his ears*
Help! I'm deaf!

Samantha
06-04-2002, 10:57 PM
*being a very sound sleeper, is still sound asleep*

Tinselcat
06-07-2002, 05:57 AM
should i or shouldn't i? *holds bucket of ice water above samantha's head*

enigma-1
06-07-2002, 06:01 AM
*wakes up, barely, then zonks out again*

Tinselcat
06-07-2002, 08:34 AM
*bustles in, in librarian persona* okay, wake up everyone! let's stay on task, people! uh oh!*sees her boss coming* yeah, i'm at work... but i really don't have anything else to do... i suppose i could go yell at some people for being noisy, but no one is... hm... okay, i'm just gonna dump this water on enigma and samantha's heads anyway. *dumps*

enigma-1

Loolaa

I wish I was... I'm such a light sleeper almost anything wakes me up... even after a nightshift.

Zzzz... *zioks!*

Mh... hrm.. what? Oh, yeah... *blames her lack of sleep on the humidity, and the fact her husband's jet lag hasn't worn off* It's beyonf me how he can go to be at 10 and then wake up at 3 in the morning.. and stays up for the rest of the day!

azure turtle
06-07-2002, 03:31 PM
Heh...if people wouldn't wake me up, I could sleep past noon. Then again, I've been lacking sleep for many moons now...

Kali
06-07-2002, 08:17 PM
Ugh, I don't know what I'd do without sleep. I, fortunately, am able to get at least eight hours a night, but I'm sure that will change when I'm on my own and working full time.

azure turtle
06-07-2002, 09:48 PM
Heh...eight hours of sleep is so rare for me. I average six to seven, but on the weekends, I sleep about nine to ten hours. Speaking of which, tomorrow's the beginning of my last weekend as a first year...man, how the time flies.

HorseTechie
06-08-2002, 08:45 AM
IYup I avergae seven hours too, and I'm used to that. Saturday's I'll sleep more...
Are you going home then, Azure? Does this mean goodbye as you disappear like Machias did?

azure turtle
06-08-2002, 11:01 AM
Actually, I've got finals this week, so I won't be going home until Thursday night. And I won't be disappearing...my presence just won't be as strong as usual. I'll still be hanging around, but it'll probably be late at night. Ah well...

Skeletoncrew

Kali
06-08-2002, 01:47 PM
*takes a deep breath* Well, my own moving day seems to be getting closer and closer. I've managed to take a break from packing to stop by. Man, there better by a library or someplace with public internet access near our new apartment or I may have to do something drastic.

azure turtle
06-08-2002, 01:53 PM
Nooo! Kali's leaving too!

Kali
06-08-2002, 02:03 PM
*sigh* So sad, but yes. There is no guarantee that I will have any internet access for the first few months, until we can figure out how we can afford it. And even then, I'll be working full time as well.

Goodbye life of laziness!

Loolaa
06-08-2002, 02:06 PM
 Awww...
I hope you do find a library, you'll really be missed. And I'll miss your art and fanfics too.

azure turtle

*cries*
You'll definitely be missed, Kali! I hope you can find someway to visit us...

Kali
06-08-2002, 02:14 PM
I hope I can visit too. I kills me that I probably won't be able to post any art or fics, and I may have to post a couple fics just before I leave. Better get cracking on those.

But don't worry too much, one of my roommates is a computer nut, and we will have a computer, it'll just be a question of affording the line. Hell, I'll use a dial up if I have to!

Loolaa
06-08-2002, 02:19 PM
I have a dial up.. it's a pain, but it does it's job... at least you'd be online!

Kali
06-08-2002, 02:33 PM
Ooh, maybe I'll be really lucky and the apartment complex will have internet included or an internet cafe or something. Bah, for $1300 a month it better.

azure turtle
06-08-2002, 03:32 PM
That would be nice. I'll be using my good ol' 56k modem when I get back home. I'm going to miss downloading music with such a fast connection.

HorseTechie
06-08-2002, 05:02 PM
Oh no! Kali's gonna go into lurkdon too? Ahh man!

$1300 a month? Woof, and I though putting down $545 a month for our wee apartment was alot. (but that's Indiana prices for yah)

I have a 56K at home, which actually runs at 42-44K through the free ISP connection I have through college. But I only get it free as long as I'm a college student. Too bad they don't offer free internet or really cheap dial-up like they used too.

Skeletoncrew
06-08-2002, 05:52 PM
Wow. For $1300 that had better be a big place! My one bedroom apartment is $475. Its not the nicest of aparment complexes, but its in a good area, the apartment is big enough for me, and its cheap!

Tinselcat
06-08-2002, 05:53 PM
hey, kali and skeleton, i uploaded chapter 4 to my tmnt fic on ff.net. go read it and review! need input! now! go! quick! now!

Kali
06-08-2002, 06:28 PM
Well, $1300 is for a two-bedroom apartment in San Jose. We're talking CA Bay Area/Silicon Valley. The prices are just stupid out here. Add on utilities, car insurance, and food... *sighs* Good thing it's a three-way split.

Ooh, new chapter! *runs*

Samantha
06-08-2002, 10:30 PM
It sounds like CA is just as bad as NY (didn't think that was possable). Well we'll all miss you like crazy until you return from the great abiss of offlinedom. I all ready sorta started a farewell party at UM, but since I'm pretty new here...Azure? The honors?

Isn't that the reason one would BUY, as opposed to renting, DVDs or VHS tapes, so you could watch them over and over again? I have very few books (comic and otherwise) that I haven't read, and my movies get watched often.

Skeletoncrew
06-16-2002, 01:23 AM
It does make sense to only purchase DVDs that you will watch multiple times...
My DVD collection isn't terribly big.

Loolaa
06-16-2002, 01:28 AM
The only books I have that I haven't read are cheap Classics, that I either start to read and decide I don't like, or ones that I never get around to reading.
I've bought stuff like Dickens, and Moby Dick with the intent of reading them, but never do....

I've got all the City at War, I found the last one I needed last year sometime and was so-oo happy!

Skeletoncrew

Skeletoncrew
06-16-2002, 01:42 AM

I am currently working my way through the Harry Potter books. I never saw what all the fuss was about, until I watched the first movie.

I am not a good reader, having ADD and dyslexia, I find it hard to concentrate long enough.

But on the other hand if something grabs my interest and attention I can read it non stop. I once read The Last Unicorn in one day.

Not long and I will have finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Loolaa
06-16-2002, 01:03 PM
I love Harry Potter!

*hides from HT*

Kali
06-16-2002, 02:10 PM
I like Harry Potter, too. The books are really good. I've only read the first three because my mother refuses to buy the hardback versions, so we wait for paperback.

The movie, I didn't like that as much for some reason.

Loolaa
06-16-2002, 02:15 PM
I don't think the acting was that good. The special effects weren't as good as they could have been (though that's not really important) and they kept so close to the book there were no surprises as you already knew what was coming.

Just my humble opinion. Still liked it enough to buy the DVD.
And the fourth book is good, isn't it out in paper back over there yet? But the third's my favourite.

Kali
06-16-2002, 02:20 PM
Yeah, that pretty much sums up my opinion of the movie as well. But it had it's moments.

As for the fourth book, I'm not sure if it's out in paperback here yet. We usually got them through a book club my siblings had at school, but it's summer vacation now. I may have to take a trip up to the bookstore and check.

Loolaa
06-16-2002, 02:26 PM

SeaThreePeeO

Loolaa

Personally I think he felt under pressure to play a character alot of people have in their minds.

Tinselcat
06-16-2002, 04:15 PM
I like the movie, but i wouldn't have liked it as much if it didn't have maggie smith and alan rickman in it. they're awsome! as for the books, i think the genius in them is that they really are fun for a large range of ages. i wouln't let a kid too young pick up that fourth book, but i was pleasantly surprised when i finally read them to find out that they were written in a fashion that could appeal to a wide range of people. and that's my opinion. *nods head*

Yeah. Scary isn't it?

Back to the subject of comics...I picked up 3 more City at War, 1 Turtle Soup, 3 Volume 2s, Volume 1 #45, Bodycount, 4 Archies (Hmmm...I just realized that Leo is wearing orange on the cover of one of them), and two volume 2 specials. All were 25-50% off! Sad thing is, I've pretty much cleaned out the local comic stores. They still have a few more volume 2s that I don't have, and this is the first time I've bought any Archies locally.

Good news is, I saw another flyer for the Portland Comic show next Sunday. I had totally forgotten about it!!! Maybe I can pick up some goodies there!

Kali
06-17-2002, 08:16 AM
Wow, way to go on the comics SC! That sounds like my adventure when I first found out about the comics. A local store had a 50% off sale on back issues (but only if you bought $20 or more, no problem for me) and 20% off everything else! I even bought a 100-pack of those plastic comic covers! Nearly cleaned them out of TMNT, too, but there was still a lot more I could have gotten. I now wish I had gotten those Archies and maybe that Leo mini, even if it was expensive.

Skeletoncrew
06-17-2002, 12:47 PM
I love comic sales!

BTW, I must not have gotten the right Archies...Splinter doesn't look terribly tall and sexy in any of mine. But Shredder does! Yum yum yum!

Oh, and I don't remember where the "Which turtle does April like most?" discussion is...but she winked at Splinter in one of my new ones.

And speaking of Splinter...I noticed a copy of "Playrat" on the floor beside the porcelain throne he was "meditating" on in "The Maltese Turtle". Hedden and McWeeney certainly make him into a dirty old rat don't they?

Loolaa
06-17-2002, 01:55 PM

Kali
