OT, falls to pieces when falling into a vat of unfinished Mutagen. 2012 willingly pours Mutagen burns flesh off, can't talk or move anywhere as of now.
Looks like we've found cybercubed's twin. :trazz:

I like the new one a lot better. The old one I cant remember all that much but from what I do remember he was sort of normal for the show. This one made me sad to watch him change and hopeful to see what become of him next season.

The OT MM at least had a body, could talk, and shape shift. Timothy, as much as we have seen, cannot. But who knows how he will end up.

Donnie's already a mutant...so I wonder if that's what happens when you touch a mutant instead of an animal before mutating? He's like a mutated mutant?

I don't know. In this series, I just chalk it up to the Kraang constantly working on the mutagen. I imagine the formula changes all the time.

Hmm yes, and the fact that they said it's unstable in this dimension...so it's properties could change as well. Maybe the longer it is in this dimension, the more unstable it becomes.

What if it was the full body suit that Tim was wearing was keeping him from "getting dna"

I prefer the original Mutagen Man. He also had shape shifting powers, we don't know if this one can do that yet.

The question is who had the worst mutation, not your favourite. Right now Tim can't do anything. At least Gutz had powers.

But Tim wanted to get mutated. The original had Bebop and Rocksteady firing on him on a balcony and falling into a vat of mutagen and having his body parts torn apart.

As far as origins go the OT Mutagen Man had the worst one imo. With Tim, I actually cared when he fell apart, because I've grown attached to the character. Sure it was tragic when Seymour tore apart but at least with his shape shifting powers he got a happy ending.

His shape shifting always felt weird to me with that big container suit he was wearing lol. I'm curious to see if he has those powers in this version.

Both of them had horrible origins.
Poor Seymour was just in the wrong place and literally fell apart after falling in the Mutagen.
But poor Pulvarizer was more tragic because he really wanted to be a mutant and didn't heed any of the warnings, which makes his mutation more tragic in my opinion. Even when I knew he would become Mutagen Man, it was still hard to watch.
With Seymour there was no connection because he wasn't developed. You felt bad for him, but not like you do for Pulvarizer. And I hated his name "Seymour Gutz", I know what the writer intended but it felt more more as a clever joke instead of giving that character any personality or real name for that matter.
This Mutagen Man has a back story, tragic mutation and hopefully will be further developed because there's a lot you can do with him.

Worst orign was the current mutagen man. The 87 mutagen mad could talk, walk and fight while this new one is just a monster that the only thing he can do is to kill and destroy. We will see what will happen to him in the future.

I agree. He's probably the most disturbing character on the show, even beating Rat King and Snakeweed. At least those two started evil. I was thinking he would become Newtralizer.

which is interesting since alot of kid's show normally don't pull a twist to the character they just make it predictable.

I dont really understand why everyone is saying its so tragic. Timothy was warned a bunch of times by Don not to do it, but the dumb guy went ahead and did it anyway. If you ask me, he got exactly what he deserved. As opposed to the OT MutagenMan who just wanted to do his deliveries but was "tragically" shot down and mutated against his will.
And the OT actually did a better job explaining why he mutated the way he did, instead of the Nick show just saying its "Highly unstable".

I hear you, it was his fault, but that still makes it tragic because he so badly wanted to be a mutant and really didn't think about anything, even the consequences. It's still a tragic fate, because even though he did it to himself, it's most possibly the worst mutation. From his perspective, this is a kid who so badly wants to be not only a hero but like the turtles, a mutant, and he sees humanoid rats, dogs and a fish, he probably thought the same would happen to him, and he could finally be something better, then just Timothy.
As I said before, both versions were tragic. It still bothers me when I watch "Enter Mutagen Man" and after Seymour falls into the vat of mutagen as his limbs come apart as he swirls around, he sequels "What is this glop?"
I've always loved the character of Mutagen Man for that very reason, he's so tragic. And Pulvarizer now learned his lesson, albeit the hard way.

Pulverizer simply thought he'd become an animal mutant like the Turtles and Dogpound/Fishface.
So he thought he was going to be strong like them, but he turned into a blob. Sad for him.

Does anyone have any guesses as to what abilities/powers the new Mutagen Man will have? Like the ability to shape shift like the original.
I think its a very good chance he will have some type of morphing ability. We already he know loves spying (even if he's not too good at it, could make for plenty of easy jokes in later episodes). I can just see him having this amazing ability to transform bis appearance, but stinks at "playing the part" and is just as oblivious as ever.

Oh wauw, right there, there's a psykological aspect I didn't even think about. And now every-thing points to it. Timothy.. dislikes himself. He knows that he is a fat, dumb, teen that no one ever wants to take seriously or admire. It even seems very likely that he is just used to being picked on.
So as he saw the turtles, which in his eyes were the coolest people ever he could look up to, he tried to create a new identity, to not being the looser Timothy any-more, and become the cooler pulverizer people can take seriously and look up to.
It didn't work, but he kept pushing, keep looking for a way to sieze being the Timothy people don't take seriously, and be like the turtles, then the mutagen option presented itself, and blinded to every-thing else, obsessed with the thought of finally becoming a hero, some-one people would want around and look up to, he went for it. And.. well... ended up like that.
Jesus that is just very very sad.
Oh, and people whom thinks he is not a teenager.. he is, he is not old enough to drive a car, the only thing he ever drove was an ice-cream van which could drive 30 miles an hour at maximum, which means he must be fifteen, the same age as the turtles.
Dude... that is just tragic, at least for Seymour it all turned out pretty well for him.

There are a lot of good points in here. Obviously Timothy wanted to change but I seem to have overlooked the fact that from his point of view every mutant he'd seen has had animal DNA be part of the mutation. Nice one.
It makes sense that even though everyone was telling him it's unstable & may not work the way he thought all he could see was the actually formed butt-kicking mutants in front of him.
Also, great one about not only reminding that Tim is a teen but likely a self-loathing one. Lots of selfish reasons behind his change but Tim obviously wasn't too happy with his life. It could have just been teen angst or maybe something more serious.
Either way there is still plenty of time for Donatello to search for a cure. Perhaps while he searches for a cure Tim gets used to his new body or Don he finds a way to change the capabilities of Tim's makeup but not enough to turn him human again although allowing him to speak, shapeshift, etc.

My problem with Mutagen Man in the OT is that he appeared once and had his story resolved. What a wasted potential.
I doubt Tim would have shape shifting powers... but he seems to be made of corrosive liquid. I'm actually wondering if he's conscious or capable of speech and so on. Unfortunately, I'd have to wait for season 2.

I look it up and from what I find you do need to be a licence holders to drive a icecream van. You just dont need a special.

Maybe the writers just didn't do the same research as you did.
Also, well in my country, Denmark, I have seen fifteen-sixteen years old working at the beach with these mini ice-cream vans, no problem. So maybe it differs? I don't know.
But I am dead sure that Timothy is either fifteen or sixteen. I am very very sure of this.
And well, if you read his released bio, they call him. "A teen." which must mean that at the absolute maximum he is nineteen. But I still find that very unlikely. In fact.. I mostly believe he is sixteen, the same age as April.
There are a lot of good points in here. Obviously Timothy wanted to change but I seem to have overlooked the fact that from his point of view every mutant he'd seen has had animal DNA be part of the mutation. Nice one.

Well, there is one-thing we have to give Timothy credit for as being a very good quality.
When a source of inspiration presented itself, at least he tried! I mean yeah, he took it to the absolute dummest extreme, but he tried!
He didn't get stuck on the couch drawing fanarts of the turtles doing nothing, he got out there, and when the turtles told him he should train.. He trained! He joined a martial arts dojo and honestly gave it his all, trying as hard as he could without giving up. And if he had just joined a martial arts Dojo that was not a part of the foot-clan. I am pretty sure he would have continued and continued training the martial arts, every single day. And when you train every single day, you will learn.
No matter how you turn that one, that is a very admirable quality, lots of self loathing teens in real life just gives up, sits back and as a result becomes depressed adults. At least this is a guy who tries. And not only tries, but gives every-thing that he has to push himself in the right direction, even though he is a fat, dumb, picked on teen.

I voted for the OT Mutagen man thinking this was about plot quality...New Mutagen Man was a more painful mutation and a lot better as a story. Damn it.

I think the New Mutagen Man is the best for me. He actually has a plot going for him. Plus, he doesn't sound child-like and whiny like his previous version. (Sorry, Rob.)
As far as origins for mutagen man, neither is better than the other I think. Which one is more tragic? Also hard to tell. Which mutagen man was more interesting? OT definitely.
However the original Mutagen Man origin that is featured on the back of the toy is by far the best and the most tragic.

With exception of Donnie, even the other brothers don't feel bad at all for him. I feel the same. Like Splinter said he's just a "doofus". At least his monster physical appearance as Mutagen Man is much more interesting.

I can't really decide which one is the worst. They both were interesting characters, but Tim's was probably better because his character was actually developed more than Seymour's so that when he got mutated and turned evil, we actually cared about the character. Seymour was just a random dude that happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time with him getting demutated by the end of the episode/day. Everything is bittersweet for Tim, so Seymour's background probably worse.
