View Full Version : I wonder if the Turtles look and design has been decided for

With Warner animation out of the picture, the TMNT will probably undergo another makeover for the new show.
I'd have lovin to see what Warner came up with, we'll probably never see that though.
I just hope they look meaner and darker than the old cartoon, not too stylized like Batman beyond, but maybe like Jim Lawsons style in the new comic.

Any chance of a preview Pete?

Later dudes!

Heya Hedge! Welcome to the Technodrome! I'm your friendly neighborhood blue mutant turtle. A pleasure to meet another TMNT fanatic!
*gives the Hedge a mango of welcome*
May your stay be pleasant.

Ah, and about the new cartoon show...I'd love it if Peter Laird gave us a litte sneak peak...

I wonder how long it'll be before we really do start seeing previews...

There's a new show? Jay-zus, i'm out of the loop!! Oh, I'm Tinselcat, by the way, nice to meetcha. You're from Ireland, huh? That's awsome! Do you know where to find more information on the new series?

*modest grin*
Oy Tinselcat, I wrote a little article about it on the front page of the Technodrome. It has links, so you can read the full articles. There isn't too much information what is going to be in the show itself, but there is a lot of info on when/where it's going to air and how 4Kids Entertainment teamed up with Mirage.

Thanks for the info, azure, i'll check it out. i really hope i'll be able to see this show. the tv at my house isn't hooked up to an antenna, so we can only watch movies... i wanna see turtles!! i miss 'em!

Hey Hedge and Tinselcat, didn't say hi to our newest members! Welcome aboard

About the new show tho, I would so wish if they would do Batman: TAS style art, it would be great, since I'm such a Batman fan also. To prove it, check out my TMNT artwork done in the Batman: TAS style. They're the first row under Artwork by me. http://members.fortunecity.com/lisardo79/fanart.html

But I would havta disagree that I don't want the toon to be done in the new comic style by Jim Lawson, I don't like his artwork. Tho if it were to be done in Peter's comic artwork, that would be fine. Yeah hopefully Peter will give some previews or something on his site.

Ooh, nice drawings, Lisardo! I especially liked the Egyptian Turtles sketch. It's so cool!

hey, lisardo, i looked at your fanart, and i gotta say: cooooool! and i agree, that egyptian turtles art is awsome! very cool idea. i love looking at how different people draw the turtles.

HorseTechie

Well.. seeing as how I hadn't seen anyone else draw like Lawson, I belive we're safe there.

Though.. I wonder what the TMNT attire will look like? Will it be like the Movie ones, with brown kneepads and elbowpads? I would actually like it if they had the simple brown blets, and no letters for their names. That has always kind of bothered me.. but I'm weird. I bet the bandanas will be the same color ones, which is fine. Be cool if they wore like different disguises from time to time, or like have different ninja equipement fittings on the legs, upper arms, belt.

Oh thanks guys for the nice input, glad ppl do like my artwork  (didn't mean to self-advertise tho, heh) And if you any of you guys have artwork on your pages of TMNT, do show, do show! I also love to see other's artwork.

Oh and HT, I agree the letters on their belts were kinda kiddie-like. I prefer them not have them myself. HOwever, despite the idea that the new cartoon will prolly be more comic-based, I don't want the turtles to all have the same colored bandana's like they did in the comics (the all red masks). Too hard to tell who's who sometimes, unless you see their weapons, but in the cartoon's case, you'd hear their voices too. But still, I like the diff colors, it would suck if they don't give them their colors. After all, they had diff colors in all the movies, and the movies were always semi-comic esp. TMNT 1.

Just my opinion.

I like the idea of them having different colored masks...though I wouldn't mind too much if they all wore red. Oh, and I have some fanart by many talented artists being hosted at my website, if you'd like to take a look. Just click on the link in my sig below.

Hey thanks for the welcome guys!
Liked your artwork Lisardo, if they looked like that in the new show I wouldn't mind.
You can check out some my artwork at

That's the forth page of my gallery, but that's my favorite picture so far.

Later!:)

Yeah, colored masks are cool with me... as long as they have leather everything else!

Oh... You can go down one forum, to the Fanworks section. We advertise all kinds of artwork and reads there (just to keep this area on topic, heh)

*nudges Azure* ...Ooo, now you're also the chief in charge of the Off-Topic Police, Mangos, Ninja, etc. here!

No prob, Hedge! Woah, so you're actually Martin McDonnel? Dude, I think your art is awesome! And if my memory serves me right, you actually got your art posted at the official site. Congrats on that!
*looks to HT*
Y'mean I'm in charge of all of those?
*points to the off-topic creatures*
Uh oh...I don't think they'll listen to me...:sweatdro:

I doubt there will be much darker themes in the show considering it will be airing on Fox Kids. I don't mind though.

Kali
05-30-2002, 07:27 PM
They've already said it was going to be darker than the original series, but not quite as dark as the Mirage comics.

05-30-2002, 07:30 PM
Whatever it turns out to be, I just want to see it. That's all that matters to me.

P.S.- Kali, thanx for the review. And before you ask, there will be more to that story shortly, even if it is under a new title.

azure turtle

I can't wait to see this new cartoon!
*starts doing backflips to get rid of the anxiety*
I hope the new cartoon still retains some of the TMNT trademark humor...

Samantha
05-30-2002, 11:53 PM
Yup, everything needs humor. Do you think Shadow will make an appearence?

azure turtle
05-30-2002, 11:58 PM
I don't know...if they base this off of the original Mirage run, then Shadow's presence will probably be felt. Then again, I don't know how far they're going into the timeline. One thing's for sure, they're going to have to explain the Turtles' origins for the new generation of kiddies. I hope it sticks true to the original origin story, and not the old 'toon (where Yoshi is actually Splinter).

Samantha
05-31-2002, 12:04 AM
That goes double for me. I never understood why they did that in the first place.

azure turtle
05-31-2002, 12:11 AM
I think it was just to simplify the plot...oh, and it leaves out the deaths of Yoshi and Tangshen, which I'm sure parents didn't want their kids to see.

Samantha
05-31-2002, 12:14 AM
*nods* Yeah, makes sense. That whole, then Naji was killed, then Tang Shin and Yoshi were killed, then Shredder was killed thing was a bit violent.

azure turtle
05-31-2002, 12:19 AM
LOL! Ya, just a little bit more violent then most people would like. Oh well...the plot changes definitely make the cartoon a unique universe.

Samantha
05-31-2002, 12:22 AM
Yes, that it does. *realizes something* Have you ever seen "Dextors Labertory?". Inbetween eppies they'd have a ten minute "Justice Friends" eppy. I swear, the guy who did the voice for Val Hallen sounded just like cartoon Mikey.

azure turtle
05-31-2002, 12:24 AM
I've seen only a few eps of Dexter's Lab. Unfortunately, I'm not too much of a big fan. Maybe he is the same voice actor as the one for Mikey? I wouldn't know, since I never heard Van Hallen speak.

Samantha
05-31-2002, 12:26 AM
Hm. I wish I knew what the guys name was.

azure turtle
05-31-2002, 12:51 AM
Mikey's voice actor is Townsend Coleman. I looked it up at the Internet Movie Database.

HorseTechie
05-31-2002, 09:32 AM
What's even more frightening, I know people who worship the TMNT voice actors as much as the TMNT too! Cam Clark, Rob Paulsen, and... *gasp* I forgot who Donatello is!

azure turtle
05-31-2002, 05:07 PM

HorseTechie

*runs back over to imdb.com*

Townsend Coleman .... Michaelangelo
Cam Clarke .... Leonardo/Rocksteady
Barry Gordon .... Donatello/Bebop
Rob Paulsen .... Raphael
James Avery (I) .... Shredder

:anime:

Ladies, gentlemen, and fellow mutants...we have a winner!
*gives HT a golden mango*
I always thought it was so weird that James Avery did the voice of Shredder. I had no idea as a kid, and looking back at it now, I feel like yelling "Uncle Phil!" at the screen whenever Shredder talks. :goof:

HorseTechie
06-03-2002, 08:46 PM
*weary eyes blink*

Who is James Avery?

azure turtle
06-03-2002, 08:49 PM
*falls face first, anime style*
You don't know who James Avery is? HT, have you ever watched the show Fresh Prince of Bel Air, with Will Smith as the main character? James Avery is the big guy who plays his Uncle Phil.

Kingkapong
06-05-2002, 03:18 PM
wow!!! i could never imagine him do that

Loolaa
06-05-2002, 11:17 PM
Uncle Phil played the Shredder?!?!
I never noticed... wow.... next time I watch the cartoon I'll see it in a whole new light!

azure turtle
06-06-2002, 01:06 AM
Yup yup! He definitely did the voice of Shredder. Check it out...you might have to scroll down a bit.

*snicker*
Y'know, that reminds me of someone from Star Wars fame that lent his voice to a cartoon. Did you know that Mark Hamill (AKA Luke Skywalker) did the voice of the Joker in the Batman animated series? I just found that out a few months ago. It's so weird...

Loolaa
06-06-2002, 01:18 PM
Oh yeah, I knew that. I think Mark Hamill does alot of voice work.

azure turtle
06-06-2002, 01:21 PM
I think it'd be so cool to be a voice actor...I wish I could do the voice for a cartoon character.

Skeletoncrew

Thats what one of my friends was talking about the other day. He thinks he'd make a good villain.

Kali
06-06-2002, 01:41 PM
I've always wanted to do that too, I think I'd be good at it. I love acting, but hate being on stage or in front of a camera.

HorseTechie
06-06-2002, 01:57 PM
yeah.. Lisardo told me Mark Hamill did the voice for Joker last year when we were watching a couple of her old Batman TAS eps. It was weird.. and then in another Batman ep, I think it was Robbie Rist (or one of the TMNT voiceactors) did the voice for this one kid.
