Than just disguise themselves with clothes. I came up with this concept of Donnie creating or discovering a device that creates a holographic cloaking mechanism over the person wielding it and manages to customise a human hologram disguise for himself. I always find it funny that people didn't seem to notice they skin color or they have only 3 finger.

No offense, but did this really need its own thread?

If Donnie makes a working holographic cloaking device in anything selling itself as an even remotely realistic version of the series, I walk.

Hmm, why not? I've toyed with the idea of him building one myself. C'mon, if Kurt (nightcrawler) could have one in X-Men: Evolution, why NOT the Turtles? It would save them a LOT of trouble! (But then we wouldn't have so many awesome stories about them being in danger of discovery...) Personally, I LOVE the idea! Then again, I was also giddy with excitement over the episode of the OT series "The Gang's All Here", where Mikey actually got turned INTO a human by Shredder's mutagen-tainted cookies. I loved seeing him as a human tee and how he reacted. I'd be really curious to see what kind of holographic disguises Don would come up with for each of them!

Why? They kind of all ready have real working versions all ready.
Any ways its NYC theres weirder things then dudes with green skin. And the three fingers I know more then one person thats missing one or more fingers.

As cool as the idea sounds, that's the reason I'm not too keen on Donnie making any holographic cloaking devices. The threat of being found is a part of the appeal.

How about in the Mirage Comics version? If my memory serves Peter and Kevin briefly considered doing something similar in the early comics.
Presumebly it'd be fashioned out of leftover alien tech.

Yes, I tend to agree with this. That being said I recall Peter said the above idea of a overlayed disguise wouldn't pass more than passing scrutiny. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that as a one off or short term thing. The possibility of it malfunctioning in front of people would present good story opportunities.
I guess people don't look too hard when they're surrounded by people- that's how I like to write it off anyway. Maybe their disguises could just be better. I think baggy street clothes look waay less dodgy than bare legs and trench. An invisible cloak would have its own set of problems - especially in a crowd.

MOST people don't look to hard or close- but all it takes is ONE astute and observant person to blow the whistle and cause a panic. With holgrphic cloaks, all you'd have to worry about is accidental skin contact, for the most part. Though heaven help them if it malfunctions! I'm tempted to come up with a story-arc about exactly that, just to explore the idea! (I have an on-going fan-fic tale; see the link in my siggy to check out all my writing projects!)
