Upon thinking about Hamato Yoshi's love life, I was wondering do you think it would bring an interesting backstory twist if he had a scorned ex-lover?
One possibility would be for Tang Shen to have a jealous sister/friend who wanted to marry Hamato Yoshi instead, and actually conspired with Oroku Saki to break up their relationship so they could have the other. (Oroku Saki being with Tang Shen and the ex-lover having Hamato Yoshi.) Then later on in the series/comic as the ex-lover and her army of subordinates become a greater threat and villain to the Turtles, the series/comic reveals the deep romantic relationship she had with Hamato Yoshi/Splinter before he met Tang Shen and the complications of the love triangle.
It could add another layer of complexity, and make for a very fascinating dynamic between Hamato Yoshi, Oroku Saki, Tang Shen, and Yoshi's ex-lover.
As to whether the ex-lover feels regret for her sister/friend being killed (when that wasn't the original plan between Oroku Saki and her), well... we could leave it open for character exploration and give her some moral ambiguity.
I figured if Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki both fought for the love of a woman (Tang Shen), why not have two women (Tang Shen and Yoshi's ex-lover) fight over Hamato Yoshi? ;) ...It would be a climatic moment if the ex-lover met up with Splinter (who was Hamato Yoshi) back in New York City after assuming he was dead after missing for so long; and even more climatic if she encountered Shredder and fought with him. (...This ex-lover's rage could seriously compete with Karai's, don't you think? ;)) It could also give Hamato Yoshi/Splinter some experience behind the wisdom he imparts to his Turtles about falling in love.
