View Full Version : TMNT To Make Comback--DVDS!!!
"The heroes on the half-shell have been plotting and planning their comeback with multiple projects targeted at the big and small screen. Now, New Line Home Video has announced that the entire slate of the first series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action movies will be released on DVD this year.
The first film is already part of New Line's available DVD titles. It's priced at $14.98.
On September 3rd of 2002, the second and third installments of the feature franchise will also be available, with an MSRP of $14.94. Here's how New Line describes the sequels:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The turtles are up to their shells in trouble when a canister of toxic ooze falls into the hands of the evil Master Shredder. Aided by their new pal Keno, the pizza delivery boy, the Turtles take on Shredder and his mutant allies, Rahzar and Tokka, to capture and destroy the dangerous ooze and make the world safe again for Turtles, humans and pizza!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: America's most awesome amphibians are back and this time they're history in this motion picture adventure. When a magic scepter accidentally transports April back through time to 17th century Japan, the turtles takeoff in hot pursuit, cowabunging their way out of the sewers right into Samurai-O-Rama! Now they must battle the evil Lord Norinaga to reclaim the magic scepter that will bring them back below the subways of New York City. So join the heroes in the half-shell in a totally turtle-rific trip through time.
The turtle sequels are part of a slate of six family-oriented releases for September. Other titles include Monkey Trouble (starring Thora Birch and Harvey Keitel), Surf Ninjas, Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando."

Woah, two newbies! Welcome to the Technodrome!

I'm Azure, resident blue mutant turtle. May your stay here be full of fun, tinged with a wee bit of silliness! :anime:

What do you mean a little, Azure? It's always silly around here.
*pouts* Consider yourselves lucky. I can't find a decent DVD player for the life of me.

All I want to know is..........
Is this coming out over here in England? I haven't been able to find the first film on Dvd yet. But then again I am having trouble getting Romeo Must Die <sigh>

I dunno, I haven't tried looking for it. HT said the special features weren't much cop, and as I've already got the video, I don't want it.
Unless they release one with good special features, that is...
Or if my tape snaps

I have two copies of each film on video
The English version and the cable version. I am hoping to complete my collection with the American versions so I can see all the stuff that was cut out.

I heard that the special features in the first movie DVD weren't all that great either. I'm still hoping that New Line will release a special edition DVD. Peter Laird hinted at it during one of his Blasts from the Pasts, but so far, nothing's come of it.

All we know right now is that it's going to be computer animated and that John Woo has agreed to produce it. Everything else is currently up in the air.

Well, dangit! Good thing I didn't go & buy the videos a few weeks back. Now, I just gotta wait till 9/3 to get the sequels *drums fingers impatiently*
I want the episodes, though! Geez, it's been forever since I've seen "Raphael Vs. The Volcano"! *grr* I love that eppy! *sai*

LOL! Sadly, I just bought the videos two weeks ago. Oh well...now I want to get all three movies on DVD. Maybe I'll wait a while longer before doing that.

yeah.. if you can't or don't want to get the first DVD, then just get the Behind the Shells VHS featurette on the making of TMNT2, bits of TMNT1 and other cool TMNT info.

Wouldn't it be nice if they'd include atleast parts of "Behind the Shells" on the DVDs? Or maybe that's just asking too much of them *sai*
So, I've got the first movie on VHS & DVD... I still remember the day when my old VCR nearly ate my tape! Needless to say, I'd been a very sad 12 year old! Now at 21, I ain't taking chances! ^_^

*snicker*
I hear ya, Riph! I nearly cried when one of my TMNT toon vids almost got eaten by the VCR. Come to think of it, I haven't seen that particular one in a long time...
Hey, I've got Behind the Shells, too! It's a neat little feature. It'd be nice if they included it into the second movie's DVD. I like how the turtles talk about each other...oh, and I can stop laughing at Leif. Whatta weirdo.

Now, I'm really wishing I had "Behind the Shells"... I saw it on eBay... No... won't... bid...
Is it obvious I'm not big on will power? ^_^

LOL! I got mine off of ebay. Don't worry, Riph, I can relate to your situation. Ebay makes it all too easy to lose a lot of money...it's just so tempting!

I've never seen or heard COS but I had some pics years ago and I always thought they looked really creepy... and those costumes... c'mon would Raph really wear something like that?!

I think Loolaa meant the COOTS video, HT.
And hey, don't lose faith in the new movie yet, King! Who knows, it might turn out like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within...except it'll have a strong story to it.
Hey, the CGI pilot at ninjaturtles.com looked pretty cool for a rough draft.
azure turtle
06-05-2002, 04:24 PM
True! I still remember seeing that pilot for the very first time. I received goosebumps down my arms! It was so exciting. :anime:
I couldn't stop smiling, and I literally fell off my chair laughing at the "Cowabun-" "We talked about that." part.

06-05-2002, 04:29 PM
LOL! That was pretty funny! I think my favorite part was at the beginning, where Mikey ruins the serious mood by shouting "Turtle Power!" Then he gets smacked by Leo.

*pouts* I didn't get to see the CGI pilot. Dangit! I was looking thru the pics, tho, & if the movie is anything like that... Very cool!
Um, I think they put the clips back up. If anyone wants to see them.

But I love the cgi clips! I love Donnies fighting bit at the beginning and the mike bit Kali quoted.

Oh ya! Donny's fight scene was so cool...they moved around so realistically! And his expression after the elite broke his bo was priceless!

06-06-2002, 11:14 AM
Very! That's the matrial arts action I like. But I didn't think Donny was beaten with the Foot broke his bo-staff. I would be like "Great, now I got escrimi sticks!"
I do think they are trying to take off the new comic in a way too. There's what looks like the old armory truck, and then Raph on a motorbike. Mmm...

I don't have COOTS (yet) but I do have the Behind the Shells vid! It's totally cool...I like seeing how the puppets work and how the stuntmen do the stunts. :anime: You should try getting them off of ebay, Machias. They don't usually sell for much.
