View Full Version : Could the new TMNT designs be the Fred Wolf Turtles

I've noticed (as have we all) how the new shells for the upcoming TMNT film makes it look like the turtles are going to be normal human size.

Does anyone else think the new Turtles will look like the original toon Fred Wolf turtles?

I seriously doubt they’re going to look that cartoony. I’m pretty sure they’re going to go for a more “real” look.

I'm gonna say no.

I can't see it happening.

Judging by how bastardized Shredder and April look in this movie, the Turtles are probably going to look hideous.

Nope.

The Fred Wolf designed turtles were considerably shorter than adult humans.

Infact as animated by Toei particularly in the intro for the first three seasons I'd say they are very based on the Mirage turtles as they were drawn after the first few issues when they were phasing out the more stylised look. Albeit more smiley with pupils and belt buckles etc.

I can't see the initialised belt buckles returning or them going too cutsey like they were animated by the other studios that worked on the show. That being said Bay did say these turtles would be "adorable" but seriously I think they'll look like the '87 show turtles.

And now you KNOW what the Shredder will like like? Man, PM me the lottery results for this coming week. We could make a lot of money.

Seriously though, William Fichter could look like the OT Shredder. He didn't really look Asian.

What is there to be happy about when we have a whitewashed 57 year old Colonel Shredder and Megan Fox who looks like she's playing Megan Fox instead of April O'Neil?

I fear for what the Turtles look like.

I doubt it. I'm thinking they'll be edgier looking.

It wouldn't surprise me if they applied burn prosthetics to keep in line with the Nick toon, and to cover up his ethnicity.

While I don't think it will be OT-like, I do hope they will not be as tall as the humans.

Just wondering, isn't there a way to make the turtles look shorter on screen? Kinda like what they did with Gollum in LOTR

I kind of highly doubt they will go with the Fred Wolf look.. I don't think it will be a dark and gritty film but I do think it will be a little darker than the usual fair. It's really hard to say at this point. I am expecting the worst but hoping for the best.. I'm not going to get all upset because I have NO idea what they are doing. Lets see a trailer or at least some real look at the Turtles in the film.

I doubt it too since I'm probably guessing they are going for a "darker" version. As long at they don't look like the dinosaur-hybrid, Jar Jar Binks, looking Turtles from the "Out of Shadows" video game, then it should be fine with me.

I am betting they will look very similar to the Out of The Shadows Design.

"This is what someone asked and this how the TMNT Out of the Shadows FB crew answered

Bruce S:what about the movie ...which bay is directing ..when is that coming out ...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows The game has no connection to the movie, it's based on the comics and cartoon." originally from voltron80

April "looks" bastardized? :-?

The answer to that is no. Even if the movie DID fit Cybercubeds (Unrealistic) standards, he'd still find something to complain about :tgrumble:

April "looks" bastardized? :-?</logic> She still has Megan Fox's face, therefore she can't be April.

I figure these turtles are gonna blow our minds when we see them. We've never had CG turtles designed to look real. Good or bad, it's gonna be like nothing we've seen before.

Because he hates Megan Fox, there is absolutely nothing she could do to be more like April.

Megan Fox is perfect for April imo for now, so I'm not worried. (she'll be drawing all the casuals/Transformers fans/millions of stans with her for this movie). To be honest, it looks like her April shows more effort in instilling the trademark yellow compared to other Aprils. Judith Hoag only used the yellow jacket in a few seconds/less than a minute in the first movie intro but Megan's have the one scene with Vern (carrying office box/being fired?), riding a bike, infiltrating enemy base and talking with Raph (while holding sais) in public while wearing it. That's a lot of high marks for me.

I'm sure Shredder will look good too, just have to wait for the trailer.

OP: No, I doubt they'll look like the cartoony OT. But we will see them soon in Nick's TMNT Season 2! :D

Real quick, kind of on topic thing, but if the description from the TMNT Toy Showcase at SDCC has any merit, we should be seeing what these guys look like pretty soon.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Action Figure Showcase
Members of the mutant marketing team for Playmates Toys-the master toy licensee for TMNT since the 1980s-prepare to "unleash shell," discussing what's now, new, and next for the articulated heroes on a half-shell. Get sneak peeks at future toys (perhaps some from season 2 of the Turtles' animated series or the upcoming TMNT movie), and ask questions of "team green" members who've worked on all three incarnations of the Turtles since their debut decades ago.

This is good news. It also makes me think we will see something from the Turtles movie other than just toys. I mean, they are unveiling the first live action Turtles in years, they won't want the first look to be of the toys.

The fact they're saying 'perhaps' makes things pretty clear they're just making guesses.

Or very unsubtle hinting.

It would be cool if they show the concept art of what they will look like for the new movie.
