I always love finding out really interesting facts about the ninja turtles.
So i thought why not start a thread where you can all share all of your interesting knowledge of our favourite four brothers.
Stuff that makes you go "well i never knew that" :D
I would start but i got nothing that you probably wouldn't know already

The more time I spend on these forums, the more I realize how much I don't know, so I don't think I'd have much to contribute.
I will say that I've learned more about the Turtles from reading Powders' posts than anyone else - not to sound like a butt-kiss, but his level of TMNT-knowledge is just phenomenal, and not something I could ever hope to equal.

Yeah, he's a good poster. Had a coupla run-ins with him due to my perception of his attitude at certain times (he probably won't remember), but he has a very strong knowledge of the turtles.
I might get mocked for this but CyberCubed is a very strong turtles poster as well. The guy has some zany views in life generally but he makes good threads about the turtles and prompts strong discussions. I always enjoy reading his comments, and to be fair the guy never reacts to the slaggings he gets, lol.

Wow, I started this thread along time ago
Just to elaborate, at the time i was just getting back into the fandom. And i was learning so much cool stuff about TMNT that i didn't know before. I still see on the forum, people saying "wow, I didn't know that"... I guess this thread was for the noobies
For example, i had know idea some incarnations of TMNT even existed. Next mutation etc.
And i'm sure theres still plenty of hidden facts i haven't unearthed yet :D

I got one. In the Sega version of TMNT: Tournament Fighters, in Casey's stage, April's stage, Krang's Android's Stage, and Karai's stage ONLY, by using April, Casey or Karai's ground slam 3+ times, you can break through the floor to a second stage under the 1st. Karai and Krang have a second theme when you break through on their stages.

My favorite "did you know..." Tidbits are that during concept art stage, the Mirage Turtles was meant to have retractable claws, and their elongated heel was acting as a "third" heel, very much like X-Men's Nightcrawler.

Saki is a girl's name, so in the Super Mutant OVA Saki was renamed Sawaki, an actual boy's name.

Y'all are too kind. :)
Here's one- Mikey & Donnie originally had their colors swapped! Donnie was orange, & Mikey was purple.

That was a nice surprise, wasn't it? It's a cool little detail that was surprisingly obscure!

During the early Playmates planning, there are pictures of figures with the "wrong" colors and some artwork.

See, this is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I could lurk here til the end of time and I'll still never know all the things that some of you do! :)
I have a theory that some of y'all have an Advanced Doctorate in Ninja Turtleology. :P

I tried starting a similar thread (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?p=1341741) that didn't take off, so here I am with my two cents.
The actor who plays Raphael in TMNT III and provides his voice in Next Mutation is Matt Hill, the voice of Ed from Ed, Edd n Eddy.
A bit of an odd combination there. Seems like he could have played both the body and the voice at the same time if he was given the chance.

Before the first film was made E&L were approached to do a flick that featured the likes of Billy Crystal & Gallagher, wearing TMNT costumes with face-holes cut out so that you'd see the actors. Their foes were to be rollerblading nuns with machine guns.
Contrary to the hip-hop-heavy era of TMNT in the early 90's, the boys actually have deep roots in punk. A lot of the Mirage books make reference to punk bands or have their posters in the background. Eric Talbot based an entire short on the design aesthetic of The Misfits & even thanked them in it (Later things would come full circle as Talbot eventually designed a t-shirt for a tour of theirs in the 2000's). In addition to this, the first film was originally supposed to have a 100% punk soundtrack, with heavy focus being on The Sex Pistols. Ultimately the studio wasn't into it & that's when John Du Prez was brought on to score it. There are traces of this plan left over, however, as Danny wears Sid Vicious (Sex Pistols bassist & mascot of sorts) shirts throughout the film, & the original trailer features music from Malcolm McLaren, who formed The Sex Pistols. They also did a few shots of punk rockers at the Foot headquarters, as well as a random youth wearing a Misfits t-shirt.

I think those were separate movie pitches, though there is conflicting info from Eastman and Laird. The comedian bit also had Sam Kinison and Bobcat Goldthwait, pitched by Roger Corman's New World Pictures. I REALLY wish this pitch document would leak out.
...and the rollerskating nuns were supposed to be semi-nude.

It's been a while since I've listened to the podcast where Barron mentions it, but I don't think it was supposed to be ALL punk. I think it was going to be something along the lines of the Waltz Darling album, with one track by The Sex Pistols.
