Evil Mutant

Thanks to one of his old plans gone wrong, it seems like Baxter's mutated into part-fly! At least he was able to keep his signature fro in the process!

Nick just keep bringing in that love. Mhmm.

I wonder what his voice will sound like after his mutation.

actually I'm a little disappointed by this...I hope he retains his intellect instead of gradually losing it like OT Baxter did.

Same here, as much as I enjoy fly stockman I was hoping they could have avoided taking this route.

I'll admit, this was unexpected - never thought they'd do this again. It's a neat - and nightmarish - design as well.

I agree, he should keep his intellect, but he could also be slowly going insane (as hinted by his newly-gained obsession with choco-logs) but just not stupid to the point where he forgets why he hates the Turtles and Shredder, and thinks a dimensional portal is a giant doughnut...

LOL!!! Yeah I'm pretty excited for him. The Nick crew has an excellent balance between using old characters while creating great new ones. No wonder Eastman said this is the best version.

Its hard to get the full effect until we see it in final draft such as a screenshot of him. Its an interesting development nonetheless. I expected him to be plain Baxter with a thing for cybenetics on the Nick show and have his mind transferred into a flyborg in the IDW comics.

Im undecided on whether i like him as a fly or not. But this change didnt surprise me, cause the idea kinda fits with this series. And i was positive they wouldnt do the slowly dismembering Baxter like the 2k3 series, because that would be a little too violent.

Good point. With the exception of Timothy, most of the human turned mutant characters still had their intelligence.

I always figured Timothy couldn't talk not due to intelligence loss but just the terrible mutant form he took on. Hmm but you may be right? Guess we will have to wait and see.:tsmile:

In the '87 cartoon Baxter lost most of his intellect over time after he was accidently mutated. It was due to not being a mutant, but due to being a mutant fly. Flies are not a bright species and he seems to have a thing for sugar like flies do once more but more specifically chocolate bars. I would not be surprises if he loses his intellect. Not saying he will but it would not be a surprsie due to previous incarnations and the flies themselves.

I do believe this is thread worthy. I would not have seen it otherwise same goes with the spoiler that Irma will show up beyond the photo from April's smartphone.

I was to happy when I seen that. If I have a choice between a robot or a fly. I will all was go fly. No he can not stay human. I have let to hear or see one comic or show where he does. I love how he eats a lot of candy.

The only thing I fear is he goes a bit to creazy that he cant do robots any more. He still need to use the giant robot suit and the mousers.

:ohwell: And as much as I like the OT, this move just seems too close to the OT. I was hoping that he wouldn't be mutated (since there's so many mutants already in the Nick series), or at the very least be mutated to something other than a fly, then I would have greater anticipation for Baxter's mutation. ...Now this just seems so... predictable.

I was hoping for some new storytelling, or a different spin with Baxter's character rather than a repetition (of sorts) with him in regards to his mutation.

I guess with the exception of the Archie series, it seems that Baxter will forever be doomed to be a mutant fly or cyborg, but I guess that's part of the tragedy of his character.

My memory is hazy about Archie Baxter (since he wasn't as prevalent in comparison to the other version of him), so I double checked on TMNTPedia and it said he remained as a human.

I am not very excited. Why they didnt do something new with him? Why do the same thing twice? He was a mutant fly in the OT a brain in robot in 2K3 and a cyborg in Mirrage. Nick should have mutated him into another animal . Or for a change he could have stayed human till the end of the series. Yes i know that they are doing it to please those fans of the OT but it would have been better if they did something different.

Sure, I'm on board with this. I've only seen a handful of episodes from the OT (mostly the later ones), so I never really got the whole hype about Baxter being a fly. But I really like the design they showed for him so I'm pretty open to see how this will be played out. Besides, I kind of like how Baxter always seems to be the one poor dude who just has bad situation after bad situation thrown at him, so there's a possibility this won't be the only thing he turns into/has happened to him that changes his physical appearance.

Cowabunga Carl

I'm okay with him being a fly now. I like that they showed both sides of Baxter giving him a time with his machines and mechanical nature, before just mutating him. It will be interesting to see how this goes though.

Baxter is also white in the Fred Wolf cartoon. Baxter is white in Archie because it started as a adaptation in the beginning of the cartoon.

His first action figure is also white as you can see his skin color on the human parts of his body. And the video games from the Fred Wolf era

Baxter was a black guy in Mirage, hence why he was black in the 2003 series and why he is black in Nick. In Vol. 2 of the Mirage series, Baxter transferred his brain into a cyborg body of sorts. I agree that it will be interesting to see how they pull off the fly thing with a black Baxter.

Its worth nothing that this is the first time BLACK Baxter has become a fly. Prior to this Baxter-fly was only ever associated with white Baxter.

In Mirage and 4kids Baxter became a cyborg, and IDW's Baxter is still human. So this is the first black Baxter to become a fly.

Little?. When Baxter was dismembered in 2k3, it was quite violent, at the point to be one of the darkest scenes on the show.

I hope Baxter kepts his intellect unlike the old toons who turned dumb in each apparence. But why Baxter has to became a mutant fly in first place in this Nick's toon.

So do we have any Black characters left on the show? Baxter and Xever are both mutated now... does that still count?

Im thinking in our politically correct society they will be introducing at least one new African-American Character. Maybe Hun will make an appearance as a Black Male? I don't think it would effect his character at all.

I dunno... just surprised me I guess.

Not really when you realize most mutants are animals before hand.

The only white humans who turn into mutants are Dogpound, Rocksteady, Snakeweed, Spiderbitez, um...Mondo Gecko in Archie?

There are way more animal mutants like Leatherhead, Rahzar/Tokka, Slash, Groundchuck/Dirtbag, Cockroach terminator, etc.

so doesnt that then just make 2 black guys get mutated and 4 white guys get mutated??...some thoughts in that direction have crossed my mind once too but I thought baxter just works very well on EVERY level(human, mutant, cyborg) so I just take him in as a very koool character...

The problem is there aren't any other good black characters to counter all the villain black characters.

This is why Baxter was made white in the OT to begin with. The possible backlash of Shredder bossing around a wimpy black scientist might have been too much in the 80's. So Baxter was whitewashed.

Coola Yagami

Another way to look at it is black people are awesome for bein turned into awesome mutants on that show. Other than Shredder and Karai, mutant villains (or otherwise non-human villains) stand out more than human ones in the TMNT world.

Welp.

I accidentally stumbled on this spoiler, and I'm surprised it's happening. I guess I shouldn't be, but eh.

I like what the animated universes keep making of Baxter: a self-destructive failure whose story always ends with transformation. The Nick show has followed the other parts of Baxter's story, so...I guess a transformation fits.

I don't think turning specifically into a fly is absolutely essential for his character, and wasn't clamouring for it...I'm also a little disappointed that a unique mode of transformation wasn't chosen.

On the other hand, I like that at they're apparently keeping some goofiness to him. We need a little more of that, to counteract all the darker "re-imagining" of OT stuff we've been getting--sometimes the goofiness is the best part.

As long as he doesn't start working for a nonchalant motherboard, I won't complain.

But that stuff was comedy gold! :)

Anyway, carry on. I wonder if we'll see any more of Baxter before the scheduled transformation. I mean...where's he been all this time, anyway?

I agree with this. I was hoping that they'd try something unique with Baxter considering how complex the character has been. There are many possibilities to tell a great story with him. Part of the reason why I liked him in the 2003 cartoon is because he was a character that you could really have sympathy for. Going through a whole lot of trouble in life, being taken apart piece by piece, suffering through a skin disorder in order to fix his body, and eventually being reduced into nothing but a brain. I was excited to see what Ciro and Nickelodeon were going to do with Baxter but sadly they decided on the fan service route which leads to one of my biggest problems with this cartoon. I just hope they do some more original ideas with this cartoon like the turtles facing off against more human villains for example.
