View Full Version : Fake Ra's al Ghul is to Erich Sachs as Real "Ducard" Ra's al Ghul is to Oroku Saki?

Just a thought. I could see them going some kind of faux Batman Begins-route with things.

Could be an interesting take. I doubt the Turtles writers can pull off something as good as TDK screenwriters.

I doubt this is the case, but I would certainly welcome the idea if it was.

Yeah that'd be neat. Like he's just a top Foot Soldier or something posing for the master of the Foot Clan or something.

You know that could be possible. It would give it a more of a story arch for the build up at the end.

Anything sounds better then a lame space mutant. Still, I keep hearing people mention this, and aside from Fichtner being a reincarnated Oroku Saki, this is the best scenario.

Which way though?

Is Eric Sachs the real Shredder and hypothetical Oroku Saki a decoy?

Or is Saki the real deal and Eric Sachs a decoy/public face?

Maybe it's just me but I can't see them hiring Fichtner to play a patsy. If there were rumours of an equal or higher profile actor in a mystery role attached to this then I could see it. Knowing this movie Shredder will probably reveal his identity to be Vernon.

besides isn't decoy suppose to imitate you? why would you give decoy a different name? doesn't that defite the purpose?

The ideal situation would be Eric Sachs is the decoy leader, and that the monster in the bladed suit is the real Shredder and leader of the Foot clan.

I still can't believe Ben Kingsley was hired to play the decoy Mandarin, rather than the real deal either, so the same being true here wouldn't surprise me at all.

Many would have said that about Ken Watanabe in Batman Begins. Fichtner is a glorified nobody who is a close friend of Michael Bay.

True but in batman's case the decoy trick didn't work that we'll since 'ducard' looked just like rahs al ghul. You'd have to never had read a comic or seen the animated series to fall for it. In iron Mans case we fell for it since Kingsley kinda looked like what we'd expect a live action mandarin to look like.

Unless we hear news of some Japanese dude or something I think fitchner is what we're gonna get. Besides this movie is so messed up I bet an oroku saki would be a decoy and Eric would be the real deal. I wouldn't put it past them.

I can't remember if Watanabe ever openly speaking about playing R'as Al Ghul in the same way as Fichtner is saying about being Shredder.

I tend to think Fichtner's friendship with Bay makes it more likely they'd give him a plum role in the picture.

Hypotheticaly if the Foot are an actual criminal organisation I can see Saki having someone like Sachs to be the guy who publicaly conducts their "legitimate" business.

They could also go the other way and have the head of the Foot be Sachs who basicaly the mastermind and he uses Saki as the lead muscle with the police and everyone believing him to be the Foot leader.

Of course it could simply not be anything of the sort and the character of Sachs is what it says on the tin.

With how dumbed down this film is, would they really go through all this trouble with Shredder?

Since we still know relatively nothing about the movie itself, how can you claim it's "dumb-med down"? I'm not saying it won't be, but it's WAY to early to say it is.

I think Eric Sachs will be The Shredder. Maybe a Fake Shredder could succeed if they go TDK route I guess. But It could also backfire like that lame Cobra Commander in the 1st GI Joe movie.

I was wondering if Sachs backstory would be similar to the OG comic where Oroku Saki wants revenge for Oroku Nagi death. The Shredder could be like Batman and leave a mantle to be taken up by someone worthy to bear his name after he dies or retires.

Maybe Sachs takes up The Shredder name/mantle to avenge Saki's death.

I'm all about being hopefully, but you guys are reaching.

The thing with "fake Ra's al Ghul" is that he didn't have a given name. It's not like like Fitchtner is just "Shredder". His name is Erik Sachs, which is their stupid little elseworlds spin they're going with (Erik sounds like Oroku, Sachs sounds like Saki, for anyone who needs it broken down).

I get Sachs and Saki, but Eric doesn't sound anything like Oroku.

Really? What Western name would you use? Eric sounds pretty close to Oroku to me.

Eric and Oroku sound nothing alike to me. There's just an "r" there, that's all.

Add a japanese U sound to the end of Erik and ya got it.
