I'm not going to list ever incarnation of the turtles here, but here are some main ones that I want to know your opinion about.
Original Cartoon : http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/write.ign.com/139258/2012/10/TMNT.jpg
This is the definitive look for the turtles to me. I loved them as a kid, and I still love this style now.

Personally, I hate this version of the turtles. They look far too "heroic" to be teenagers.

I HATED this version when I first saw it, but it's definitely grown on me a lot, as I have fallen so passionately in love with the show.
What about you guys? :tsmile:

OT: I love it since it's very nostalgic and original looking. A true classic, although they do look a little "kiddy".
Movies: The first movie's designs were simply amazing. As a kid I always wanted to meet them as mascot characters somewhere :D The second movie's design weren't as good as the first, but not bad whatsoever. The 3rd movie's designs were awful, they looked like rubber muppet frogs. Ew. The 4th movie's designs were pretty much just 3D versions of 2k3 so read below for my thoughts. God only knows what the 5th movie's designs will look like :teek:
Next Mutation: These designs literally used to scare me...horrible. Same goes for things like Coming out of their shells and Turtle Tunes (although I used to like that one back in the day)
2k3: Ew, hate. Although I didn't hate the show itself, the character designs looked like steroid addicted college students. I didn't like that at all, and don't even get me started on April...
2k12: My favorite design for the turtles so far. They are all unique and different from each other including heights, facial features, head shapes, skin shades, and more.

Liked the sashes on Next Mutation. At least they didn't look like sashes off Miss America or Miss USA pageants (LOL).

I liked the Dooney-ish 2k3 designs a lot. I like all of these actually, and the only animated look that doesn't really appeal to me are the more simplified FF/BTTS designs.

OT: I was a young child, I'd swallow everything and loving it at first sight.
2k3: Pretty different from what I'm used to but I like it.
2k12: Pretty meh at first. But I watched it in motion on the first episode and I was hooked, line and sinkered. I love it the best!!

OT: It was love at first sight when I was a kid. I still appreciate the designs despite they all have the exact same character model with different colored bandanas and pads.
Movies: Awesome! The first movie in particular as the suits looked amazing. Didn't mind at all that only the bandanas were colored. It wasn until many years later when I realized how terrible the Turtles looked in Movie 3.
Next Mutation: What is with all the excessive stuff they're wearing? Why are they wearing doo-rags?
2K3: Overall, the designs ain't so bad. Wasn't sure about the whited out eyes at first. When they did get pupils in BTTS, I was like "Ugh, white out the eyes!" Glad they did in Turtles Forever.
Nick: At first having more than just pads and wristbands on the arms and legs gave me some Next Mutation memories. But during the actual show, the Turtles were given more unique physical designs aside from their signature bandanas and so I've grown to like them.

OT:My child self couldn't get enough. I watched and watched it so like most folks it's nostalgic and even as an adult I can say I love it. It's just a fun show to watch.I do think the character designs all look the same aside from their mask colors.
2k3: I hate to admit this but other than Turtles Forever I've never watched it. When it came out I was a young adult and just ignored it thinking the original immediately superior. They do look more super-heroish than TMNT but I think they still look pretty cool. Each one does look different, a bit.
2012: I loved it from the first episode. I think they've captured the fun of the original while giving it a fresh take and just making an amazing show. They look cool, though the finger and leg wraps are weird. I still love it though. Not as much as the original but damn close.
No one's talking about it so I have to mention the original comics. I didn't find them until I was a little older but mother of God, they're amazing. The art and the completely out of this world stories. Man, good stuff. Even the current comics are amazing, but anyway, there's my two cents.

OT- I've always liked it.:tsmile: My only problem with it now is no distinctions in the characters designs.
2k3- I didn't care for the beefcake turtles design. I did, however, like that they added a few things to help distinguish each turtle like skin color and height. My opinion has stayed the same.
2k12- I'm not going to lie, I thought it was ugly at first, but with in a few days, the designs warmed up to me. And after seeing it in motion, I fell head over heels for it. By far my favorite design.:tgrin:

I met the movie turtles first, so I'll start with them. Didn't really know about the cartoon until later. I loved the movie TMNT at first sight, even from the posters before it came out. They were different from anything I'd seen before (as in, original idea) and they looked cool, fun, and as realistic as such a concept could, I suppose.
The 80's toon was great, IMO, I loved their designs from the beginning. of course, coming to if from the movie version, I was mostly excited to learn that they HAD a cartoon (I was in middle/high school when the movie came out, so I was old enough to have more mature taste in cartoons by then) and even though I thought it was goofy at times, it had enough "realism" in the style of animation to appeal to me. Cartoonish but still done in a somewhat true-to-life style. (ie, the humans and setting looked like they could be real people or places, not some stylized rendering of a made-up location)
2K3 was amazing, IMHO. They were so much edgier and more anatomically accurate, and I loved the bulked up look. Unfortunately, it came at a time in my life (adult!) when I had little time or opportunity to watch cartoons, so I missed most of the original run. FF kind of ruined them for me, though. BTTS was even worse- except that I DID like that they brought back the pupils of their eyes. I may be a minority, but I never saw the point in having pupil-less eyes- unless they're about to kick some butt!
2K12 is mixed for me. At first I hated the new look, but it has grown on me, as others have said. I like the different-colored eyes and different builds for each one, just not the animation style- except for Splinter. I LOVE his look in it!!

I can't say much on my thoughts on when I saw them. I just have to say one thing I hated about the 2K3 turtles was the lame-ass stock art that was repeated over and over and over again in all their promotional stuff and DVD covers and etc that didn't look how they looked like in the actual show.
I mean... they don't look like that... and Shredder isn't wearing weird blue-ish armor, he wears grey in the show. It's hard to describe but they just don't look like that in the actual show.

If the Fred Wolf Turtles had always been animated the way they were in the intro, then that'd be my favorite. However, after the second episode, the animation and character models got much more bubbly. Can't stand the little chubby Turtles with huge heads.
Love the Dooney style of 2k3, and actually loved the simplified FF design.
The intro to FW is still one of the best around - music, animation, action - it's as slick as hell.

My first impressions? Well, I don't remember for the OT. I probably loved it right away because I got into the series pretty quickly. I do remember being slightly weirded out by the live action movie Turtles at first, but I got over the fact that it didn't look like the cartoon once I saw it. Heck, I don't even think I minded TNM designs that much. By the time it came out, I had been a few years since I saw anything with the Turtles, so I was just interested in seeing what the new show would be like (though I do recall negatively comparing it to stuff like Power Rangers, VR Troopers, and other shows like that which I never liked).
By the time the 2003 cartoon came out, I was paying more attention to the design aspect. I don't remember hating it at first, though I too thought the Turtles looked too bulky. But in the end what actually bothered me about the look of the show was the colors - the Turtles themselves weren't too bad (though I never liked Mikey's skin tone), but the show itself was just all over the place color-wise.
My first impression of the 2007 movie? "...why do they look like frogs?" Yeah, combine that with my tendency to dislike CGI animation, and I did not like the Turtles' looks at all. Over time I've come to enjoy them, though, surprisingly enough. Pretty much same for the Nick show. I really disliked the look of it at first, but once I actually watched it, I found myself liking it more and more.

I can't remember my first impressions completely, but if I had to guess based on how I feel about them now...
OT: I like the designs, they're the easiest for me to draw (used to all the time), that's for sure. My only complaint nowadays would be that they don't look different from one another, without the different colored masks and initialed belt buckles.
Movies: I really love how the Turtles look in the first live-action movie, they look just as I'd imagine they should in real life. The only issue is that their movements can be a little stiff in some shots. They fix that issue better in the second movie, but the overall look of the Turtles got a little worse somehow. As for movie 3...the less said about that look, the better. *shudders*
2K3: I'm kind of conflicted on this one. They look fine in motion of the actual show, other than seeming kind of tall and lanky, but anytime I look at just the art stills, they just look...off, to me. I dunno why. They look better without the 'BttS' re-designs though.
Imagi Movie: Count me among those that thought they looked kind of frog-like or lizard-like at first. Actually in-movie though, I think they look fine. I think I like the CG of this movie (other than the human designs) more than most people do.
Nick: They definitely took some getting used to - especially Donnie's gap - but once I got used to them, they definitely stand out from each other more than they ever have before, which is nice.

2003: they looked cool :D but seemed a little old to be teens :3
Nick: wasn't too sure about the CGI..or the fact their eyes weren't gonna always be white like in the 2003....but now they are my favorite designs
OT:....I never liked them...they looked too goofy...(maybe cause I started with 2003 XD)

80's-Animation was fine, liked Leo and Donnie's the most in this one, the others I was conflicted about.
Movies-Well yah know, for a live action flick about turtles, I thought they did an ok Job on them :ohwell:
2003-Took a bit to warm up to, as later seasons went by I grew to love it and how the characters were done
2012-Wow, boy you have no idea what a bad reaction I had on this one, I'm so used, over time I now live them

1987 Cartoon: This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!
1990: This is what the turtles would look like in real life? Awesome!
2003 Cartoon: Their new costume for April O'Neil is a belly shirt?
2012 Cartoon: I miss traditional animation. (I like the new show, but I miss the look of old cartoons)
