I'm behind the news are they releasing a full DVD set for season 1 in the near future?

Nobody knows.

Most likely no.They just recently released a second volume for it. Between it and the first volume I think that's just over half of the season, so I expect there to be two more volumes for it. I would like to wait and get a full season set, but there's little chance of that happening, so I'll just buck up and get the volumes.
Might want to ask a mod to add a question mark to the thread title. That way people don't get mad thinking this is news, rather than a question.

They could go the 2k3 route and keep mixing episodes up & re-releasing them over and over again.

I was curious about this too... 'cus I know there are two Volumes out now but I wasn't sure if I should just wait for a full Season set.
I dont see why not. It's not like they haven't already released and re-released the previous cartoons anyway haha.
Throw some bonus goodies on the full Season set too!

Rise of the Turtles goes up through Metalhead and Enter Shredder give you all the way through New Girl in Town, I think. The rest are in the 2-disk Ultimate Showdown DVD. So no word on a season set.

Ultimate Showdown DVD?....Googles...huh...I didn't know they had announced another volume yet. Then again, I wasn't aware of the Enter Shredder volume till just last week. Honestly, with three volumes, I'll just bite the bullet and get them.

Ultimate Showdown DVD:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Volume-3/18664
This 2 disc October release will complete the season over a set of four discs. However, only DVD ? I am really surprised at this. The show was ( is) built in HD, so I was expecting a Bluray release of the series. I'm going to wait a little longer, but if I don't see a bluray release scheduled befor Christmas, I will just pick up the DVDs .
Just read that the UK gets a September release. A single disc edition titled " Kraang Invasion".
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Invasion/dp/B00D9SRC24/ref=pd_sim_d_h__1
No doubt the last episodes will be released in a fourth single disc edition, or a sneaky release of a Box set of the whole series... So you have to buy them all again!
Anyway, I still want that bluray set. ;)

I actually explained this on the other topic on the DVDs. The DVD says that the content is "Full Screen Format", however, the only thing on these DVDs that is actually Full Screen is the opening intro to the DVD that takes you to the title menu (And you can tell because it shows a piece of the 4 turtles and Leo's face is slightly chopped off on the side of a shot). The episodes themselves ARE in widescreen, and I know this because I have a Full Screen TV still, and there are black bars on the top and bottom of my TV screen when the episodes play, showing that it's widescreen.
What some people aren't aware of, is when a Widescreen show plays on a Widescreen TV, it fills the whole screen; because the aspect ratio of the TV fits the aspect ratio of the DVD. So seeing the Full Screen listed on the DVD and seeing the picture fill the screen on your TV, one would naturally assume that the DVD cover is accurate.
But just want to let people know that are factoring buying the DVDs because they're Full Screen, the DVD cover is actually not correct *Strange and confusing when I found out myself*, the episodes themselves are in widescreen on the DVDs.

Yes, they are. I have both sets and they're exactly how they appeared on television. The dvds aren't amazing but they're enough to watch the show, which is all I need. I do hope for eventual blu ray release, since the quality isn't quite what is on TV but, who knows.

It says it'll have 12 episodes. The first DVD has the first six ("Rise of the Turtles" is considered one episode even though it's two-parts), the second DVD has the next seven, and the third will have the next twelve, with the two-part finale made as one episode.
Yes, they are. I have both sets and they're exactly how they appeared on television.
Not really. "I, Monster" aired before "New Girl in Town". and the latter is the last episode on the second DVD while the former will most likely be on the third set. However, if you don't mean in terms of episode order, I apologize.

Bottom Line, I don't trust them enough for me to wait for a Season set they may never do. I'd rather get everything for $10 each now, and at least have them, rather than wait on them. If I'd waited for Season sets of 2K3 rather than buy them for $10 each at the time, I'd be spending a fortune on Amazon right now just to have everything.

We're in Season 1, its obvious the show will be re-released many times in the future for new kids getting into it or after it ends.
The Season 1 DVDs will probably go out of print after 2014 anyway, so we'll most likely see re-releases of some kind./

We've talked about this. It's Nick, nothing is ever "obvious" with them. I'll be the first one to applaud them if and when they do what you want them to do. Then I'll be the first one to yell at them for the dozen other shows they need to finish putting out.
I don't take anything for granted, anymore. It's not like the smaller volume sets are gonna make me go broke in the meantime. And at least I'll be enjoying the product instead of waiting for it. I can only delay gratification for so long.

I'm out $80 for Ninja Tribunal, because I didn't hunt it down when it was new and cheap. So I feel ya. It's my choice, and I stand by it. We've been holding off doing a full series run of 2K3 until we had this one last DVD, and it's not apparently going to become more available anytime soon, and we're just sick of waiting. The ONE time I missed a release at retail, I didn't go after it hard, thinking "It'll be around again". That's where the waiting game got me. Up a f*ckin' creek. :ohwell::lol:
Now I don't wait. I see something I want, I buy it. Something better comes out, oh well, I'll figure that out when the time comes.

Just because they have already released episodes in different volumes does not mean we will not see a Season 1 box set...
For example, Avatar The Last Airbender... ALSO Nickelodeon:

Well, kids, some of us honestly don't give a crap about HD. At all. Shocking, I know. Some of us just want to watch it when we want to. And... AND... I may be in the minority here, but the internet and the computer take up too much of my time as it is. I'll watch TV on a TV, as is my only real choice since, BY choice, I don't have an iPod or iPad or whatever. So instead of iTunes, I have iDontGiveAF*ck.
As a kid who grew up watching cartoons on a static-filled 12-inch screen with color that only kicked in half the time, the sense of entitlement some people have nowadays regarding the visual quality of their TV shows is a little disturbing, to me. "I can't see April's pit stains, the picture quality sucks if it's not HD." Seriously.

I want to add my voice to those saying having a season set would be nice to take up less space, but the individual DVDs doesn't bother. I'll grab these sets as they come out and if they do release a season set I'll look to see what it offers that the original didn't and make my choice then.

I OWN one. :P Actually it's a VHS/DVD player/converter. SOME day I still plan on converting my old wrestling videos to DVD, but I never actually figured out how to use it. I have the manual, I've just been lazy about it since most of my tapes are in storage anyways.
I'm not specifically against new technology but I don't think having the newest thing is mandatory to live a happy and fulfilled life. I've only had an HD television for less than a year, so frankly, I've gone my whole life watching TV in standard definition and while a nice crisp picture is certainly a nice perk, I'm fine either way. I'd rather only have my shows on DVD in standard def than not have them at all. I'm not that picky. Nothing against anyone else, though. Whatever makes you happy. I just grew up without having a lot of things other people had, so I'm a little easier to please than most, I guess. :)
Honestly, if you came to me when I was a kid and told me that someday I'd own every episode of not one, but two (and potentially three) TMNT cartoons and could watch them whenever I wanted to, I would have thought you were some kind of warlock, as all I had were the four Burger King VHS tapes from 1989 or so. I wouldn't have cared if the episodes were in order or if the picture was perfectly crisp, I would be happy (and am) just to have the show, so I try as an adult to remember to be thankful for small victories in life and not expect or demand too much.

He gave them to me to use because he'd either forgotten what was on them or didn't see a problem with a seven-year-old girl getting an...education...during the gaps between TMNT episodes. Hey, maybe that's why I keep thinking of lonely turtle/pizza delivery girl scenarios. :tevil:

Leo, you couldn't have said it better. I'm the type to also be thankful for what I can get. And honestly, the fact that we're getting season 1 in three DVD volumes is pretty good considering the craptastic job 4Kids had of doing it. Heck, I only got a select few 4Kids DVDs because they had the episodes I liked. I wasn't about to waste money for the Turtles in Space arc because it wasn't my cup of tea.
But with this show, there isn't an episode I totally hate, and even if there was, there's the nice little convenience of being able to select which episodes I want to watch without having to play the whole thing. So, there you go.

But times have changed. You can download the entire Nick show on itunes or Amazon or whatever.
And then, iit's a total pain in the tail to get everything set up so you can watch them losslessly on your big-screen tv. Bluray is just a way simpler solution to that dilemma.

I guess Nick already realized early on that people don't want to buy 6-episode DVDs. Hopefully from this point on we get 13-episode sets till the end of the series.
And hopefully that blu-ray listing is legit. Even if its for only 13 episodes I'd still buy it.

Multiple disks?
No, the difference is the product details list that the format is in Widescreen where as the original releases listed they were in Full Screen. But as I've stated several times before, there were only a select few things that were in full screen on those first releases, which didn't even include the episodes themselves; just a few of the title menus.

Its likely the first two releases combined together as a 13-episode set. That way they can phase out the 6-episode DVDs and just continue with 13-episode ones.
Glad Nick is rectifying the DVD issue so early on. This actually might be the first TMNT series released properly on DVD from the very beginning.

While I would like to think that the listing is for a combined set of the first two volumes, I'm not going to assume that it is just yet. It's a rather confusing listing. The title being the same as the first volume doesn't make sense, and some of it's info is the same as the first set. Hopefully we'll have more info on it and the blu-ray listing before the Ultimate Showdown DVD comes out.
I still don't have a blu-ray player, and I would be happy enough with the DVD's, but this is one show I'm tempted to get on blu-ray. I'm planning on getting Arrow on blu-ray, but at least in that case I'll be getting both blu-ray and DVD in one set, so I'll be able to watch it even if I don't have a blu-ray player.

The Amazon listing states that it's just one disc anyway.
Then why is the SRP five bucks more than both of the single disc sets that have already been released? It's SRP is the same as that of the Ultimate Showdown DVD, which is a two disc set. There's something different about this set, we just don't yet know what it is. Assuming the disc number listed is correct, what could that disc have that would make it worth five bucks more?
I sure hope I monster is on the third DVD set. So even though it aired before new girl in town, did this episode occurs after this one in the timeline?
If it wasn't on the second set, it'll definitely be on the third one, as it has the remaining episodes from season one. It was aired before New Girl in Town, but going off of it's production code, it was made after. What that means for it's place in the time-line/continuity is unknown to me. I don't recall anything happening in either episode that would require it to be before or after the other one.
Speaking of production codes, going off of that list there are only two episodes that aired out of order. I, Monster and The Pulverizer Returns. Though as far as I can remember neither one creates any continuity issues.

Just noticed this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Rise/dp/B00E5G03HA/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1375818714&sr=1-1&keywords=ninja+turtles
It's titled "Rise of the Turtles", but it's $14.99 and coming out in October.... I would assume that it's "Rise" and "Enter Shredder" in one case, but the run time is only for 6 episodes.
Really weird.
Mystery solved: http://www.walmart.com/ip/27608692
It's a holiday gift pack, of sorts. It comes with a coloring book, crayons and some other crap.
Carry on.

If there's a full season 1 blu-ray release what are you gonna do with the dvd volumes?

Either keep them (as there is a chance of watching them somewhere else where there isn't a BluRay player) or just trading them in.
I still have the original movies on VHS and DVD and BluRay so...

So Season 1 is going to be 3 sets (featuring Leo, Don, and what seems to be Raph)?
RISE is 1 disc
ENTER is 1 disc
and the new one is a 2 disc set with the rest of the episodes?
In case anyone was interested Sam's Club is selling a package of both of the first DVDs together for 12 bucks.
Its a great deal if you have been on the fence about the DVDs like I was.
WalMart has the combo also but I dont know who has the better price.
I opted out of the combo 'cus I was on the fence on the show.
I have learned that just 'cus everyone else loves something doesn't mean I'll enjoy it the same (regardless this is TMNT)
No, the difference is the product details list that the format is in Widescreen where as the original releases listed they were in Full Screen. But as I've stated several times before, there were only a select few things that were in full screen on those first releases, which didn't even include the episodes themselves; just a few of the title menus.
Pretty sure the current DVDs are in Widescreen
Yeah, Avatar the Last Airbender is why I'm holding out. I was disappointed they did season sets after I had bought all the individuals. I really hope we get a bluray set.
And Korra has a Season 1 bluray set already so I'm also hoping this leads into better release of Avatar.

I just want one decent blu ray set. Both prior series really screwed up DVDs for a long time. I don't want to do the same **** again.

I think jth's point was that, this was the first listing to specify that the episodes were in a widescreen format, while the other listings had mistakenly said they were in fullscreen, even though the episodes themselves are actually in widescreen, and that the only fullscreen bits to the DVD's are the title menus.

Not sure if it means anything yet but Amazon has a page reserved for a Blu-Ray release.

I just found this on Amazon today. Was going to open a thread about it until a forum search yielded your post from a month ago. So I'm sad to see this news is not anything new and there has been no progress made from Amazon to update it with more information. I'm amused though how they have Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird listed as the series' writes  Also, the studio listed is Paramount, not Nickelodeon which is also odd. Both companies are owned by Viacom, but I don't think the Paramount division has anything to do with the TMNT in the Nickelodeon division. At the end of the day, this is a placeholder listing so I should stop trying to read so much into it. But at least it's a glimmer of hope for a Blu release. :D

Amazon is listing it as a "Region 2" release.
Therefore saying that is the UK/Europe release.
In the UK, Region 2 - the Turtles are being released over 4 volumes.
In the US, Region 1 - the Turtles were released on 3 volumes, with the third carrying 2 discs.
All UK sets are single disc editions, of which the one above is the third release. One to go in the UK.

At a fantastic price too! £15 for the full set, or £7 for each of the four volumes.
