We all know the 1987 cartoon did its own goofy thing and strayed away heavily from the source comics. So I thought it'd be interesting to see what was or possibly was derived from the comics, despite the obvious changes made. I know there isn't much, but still thought there might be more than just the handful I've listed. Other than the main cast and origin, of course.

-Turtle van: April's VW is transformed into a battle vehicle in the cartoon. I always thought adapting van was a bit random for combat.
-Bebop & Rocksteady's gang: Purple dragon gang? Seems to make sense considering they were the turtles' first battle in the show and the comics.
-Krang: Confirmed to be influenced, at least design-wise, by Utroms.
-Dimensional portal derived from the transmat?
-Leatherhead and Rat King, naturally.

Is there anything else?

Uh, the entire show? The show was literally created off the comics.

Cool, good contribution. Guess I'll just go back to reading Mirage's Technodrome Saga then.

I'd say the portal is actualy a giant version of Kirby's portal. It also seems to serve a similar puporse in leading to another dimension as opposed to another point in space like the transmat. (It's probably influenced by both)

The Eyes of Sarnath also look a lot like Kirby's warp crystal too. Also when joined together the eyes have the same ability to make thoughts into reality. (I'd also say Blodget in that episode is a Kirby stand in given his penchant for comics.)

The rooftop battle in 'Turtle Tracks' is reminiscent of the TMNT vs Foot battle in the first issue of the Mirage book.

The turtles searching through the Shredder's building in that same episode seems kind of like the turles searching the the TCRI building in the comics.

'The Legend of Koji' I'd argue is influenced by Michael Dooney's 'Masks'.

The Triceratons seem like a fair approximation in a cartoon setting of the comic counterparts and their space ships looked similar to what they had in print. I'd have to check again but did they not refer to their device as a transmat to their homeworlds.

Speaking of which the final episode 'Divide and Conquer' where Dregg is based looks very similar to how the Triceraton Homeworlds are drawn in the comic and his teleportation device looks like the transmat also.

Casey Jones' Dirty Harry voice: Casey watching Dirty Harry in the comics.

Channel 6 News: Possibly based off of News Center Six in the comics

Turtles Fight With Honor: Turtles Die With Honor in the comics, not the same but close.

In Mobster From Dimension X, professor Huxley invented the protein computer which has a helmet that can control machines with the mind just like the Fugitoid's invention in the comics. Also Huxley kinda looked like the comic Baxter Stockman and they're both geniuses.

April's hair style is based on #2.

Ok Let's see what I can pull up...
- 80's Raphael is base on early issues of Mirage Raphael who told jokes and fooled around more than any other Turtle.
- April's jumpsuit is based on her lab uniform in TMNT #2
- The Turtle van is inspired by April's van from TMNT #3
- The Turtles leaving Baxter for the cops to find is what they also did in TMNT #2

The only difference that Kirby's was magical fantasy, those in the 1987 show are technological.

I would say the Volcanic Asteroid is based on the Triceraton asteroid.

Lotus Blossum based
on Karai, maybe? Almost
the same person.

Lotus technically came before Karai, so she cannot be based on her.

Casey's design is more or less like his first Mirage appearance (just without the stupid shoulder pad). The original Foot clan symbol before 2K3 changed it.
