I've noticed this in multiple episodes. So far, this series has shied away from any actual onscreen death, whether it be happening to heroes or villains, but this bit is an exception. The Kraang seem to get killed an awful lot, be it by Leatherhead, the Newtraliser, or even by Donatello most recently, in a way that seemed deliberate. Now, I'm probably infamous at this point for my adamant feelings that heroes all over media should be more willing to kill, and the turtles should do it at times, so this doesn't bug me at all, but I am forced to wonder, why are the Kraang so much more expendable than everyone else? Is it because they all look and sound alike, so presumably nobody empathizes with them?

Exactly what you said. Who cares about the Kraang? They're all identical...nobody's gonna be all like "Aw, I miss Kraang #724...I can't believe they killed him off!"

I think what he's getting at is Nick is showing them die on or off-screen, and this is a kids show. Most kids cartoons don't show bad guys die even if there's many of them.

The 4kids series got away with it too but that series was more serious.

I don't really recall any instances of them dying besides when the Newtrailizer ate one. Sure it's IMPLIED that they die, it's not like it's confirmed.

It's the usual rule cartoons. If it's some mindless monster, who cares? If it's something completely humanoid then you can't.

Look at Snakeweed. Not only do they cut off his arms cause he's a weed monster, he also grows them back. You'll never see Leo slice Dogpound's arm off.

Leatherhead practically ate two after the camera cut off.

Leatherhead practically ate two after the camera cut off.

All we see is him open his mouth and roar loudly at them. It's heavily implied that he eats them, but we don't know exactly what happens after the camera cuts off.

I'm more inclined to think he ripped them to shreds.

It's probably because they're aliens, so it's not going to cause some controversy if they get killed off. If the Turtles were to kill a human, that would be different and cause a lot of controversy if it was shown. I think Newtralizer eating that Kraang was a pretty gutsy move on the writers' parts, and I applaud them for it.

That scene reminded me of King Hsss from He-Man last decade series. So it is not new thing really.

I do agree not being human plays huge part of it. Suprisingly on other hand from what I have heard there was huge issue with beheading in previous series.

I just started watching the Nick show... this morning...
But what I got was that they are the new '87 Foot Soldiers.
They are robots in large population that are there to be beat up and sliced into so the Turtles dont have to when a mortal/living creature is next to fight.

While the Kraang are more powerful than the 1987 Foot Soldiers, they make great distractors for the Turtles attempting to complete their objective. And we still have Foot Soldiers in this series as well. A major difference is that the Kraang alien often just runs back to the Kraang leader to be reused again. I do laugh a lot when they scurry back and make that funny sound.

The ones that are called Kraang are the ones that the one known as ABrown finds to be the most entertaining in the show that is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Just occurred to me - the one Donnie tossed out of the helicopter in episode two probably didn't land on a pile of kittens and pillows.

that was a really damn cool move, too

This show has funnies moments as in the 80's toons if not more lighter, but has some dark elements, such as when a Kraang is eaten. Even it is shown to the audience when Newtralizer get a Kraang, then the tentacles of one the Kraang outside of the Newtralizer's mouth who had his mouth closed in other words, we see clearly when a Kraang is eaten.

Well, the Kraang are vicious aliens with sharp teeth. You're not supposed to feel too terrible about them getting killed every which way.

If HUMANS in this show were having the same things done to them, I'd bet that the scenes'd be cut for censorship.

This.

They take the very narcissistic approach to it. The same that a lot of children's cartoons take.

The less human it looks, the more okay it is to show it killed or and maimed.

Ehh, but Dogpound has had his spike cut off by shredder.
