they should

for avengers and iron man they showed all the older movies the day before to getcha more pumped

i would gladly spend the $11.50 to see tmnt on a "lean.. green.. on the screen" as i cannot remember much of the movie when i saw it as a kid. just splinter kinda freaked me out when the pizza was on his head lol

Since this new movie is a reboot and not conected to any of the previous movies, I can't imagine they would do something like this. The only way I could see theaters showing any of the old live-action TMNT movies, was if they decided to release them in 3D, and even then, they still wouldn't be playing as a package deal with the new movie.

No. I believe they will rerun all of the old films on TV around the time of this films release.

No..just no. Even if they did it would just confuse and scare kids that are fans of the new show.

Why on earth would it confuse and scare kids and fans of the new show? It didn't scare or confuse anyone when if first came out and was different to the cartoon that was running at the time...
I would love to see it in cinemas.

There is a theater out here in AZ that will promote old movies being shown on the big screen again.
I missed it, but they did play the original TMNT movie with a pizza party.
I also missed Back to the Future and Weird Science.

I think right now they are promoting Labyrinth.

Sadly, I think this is the only way we'll see TMNT in theaters again.
Should they marathon like for Marvel's Phase 1 before Avengers? Sure, ...
But as successful as the '90s movie was in its time... there is a reason why we can't even get a decent home media release for any of the films...
As for a TV marathon, that be cool but I really have never seen any of the films listed on any tier of movie channel. :(

Is that a drafthouse? We just saw Secret of the Ooze at one here in Austin with a pizza party and Keno was there too doing a Q&A

If you want extras, the German release is the way to go. It has a Steve Barron commentary and some deleted scenes...including the extended ending.

As for the original being re-released, it really depends on the theaters in your area. Some might do a special screening.

The Director's Cut.

That is all.

I'm not sure. I never made it to the theater but I think it's just an older theater that's not being used for anything more than these rereleases.

I do want extras with my 90s movie...

It'd be neat, but no.

If movie studios thought like this, we would have already seen theatrical re-releases of all the horror remakes Hollywood churns out every year, as well as Tim Burton's Batman before The Dark Knight (which would have been pretty cool, actually).

There isn't a director's cut....BUT the Germans got a Special Edition DVD. It's pretty sweet.

If there ever was a wide release of the original film, it wouldn't be as authentic of an experience as you would hope. Typically, these are one night affairs and a DVD or Blu Ray. It sounds dumb, but yes, this is what they do. They did it with Nightmare on Elm St., Ghostbusters, Halloween, and Back to the Future.

Basically, you end up spending $10 for a movie you already own. It's on the smallest screen, in the darkest corner of the cineplex, and the sound quality is typically low. It's not truly a theater-equivalent experience.

They're not going to give this the same treatment they gave to Jurassic Park, The Phantom Menace, and Finding Nemo. (i.e. new print, extended engagement, etc.) You'd do just as fine, if not better, to buy that same blu ray copy for less than $10 at Wal-mart, and watch it on a HDTV with 5.1 surround sound.
