I'm starting this thread, because I'm finally giving in and watching NT:TNM on Netflix. I held out on it because I know it's "edited" complete with a different theme song and one of my favorite jokes from East Meets West excised (What's so offensive about the "The Rat had a stick!?" gag...unless you're reading WAY too much into it.)

So what are some of the most ridiculous edits you've found in Turtles media?

I'll add this here, as a spurring off point too, since the editing on The Epic Begins is laughable:

Damn, someone at FHE was ridiculously racist against black guys who were turned into white guys who were then turned into giant flies. That is the only logical explanation I can figure, based solely on the evidence provided.

hahahaha that made me laugh. Oh good ole racism is always the cause of the most evilist jokes.

I can't believe I never noticed this before, but when the F*CK in the week or so since they first went above ground did Donatello find time to gimmick that phone booth into a subterranean elevator?! :o Furthermore, how'd he know that in the near future circumstances would put him right near that specific phone booth/elevator out of hundreds in the city? WutDaFuq.

It's been a while since I saw the episode, though, so feel free to correct me if I missed something. I usually snark first, research later.

I wonder where the material for this video came from. If they took it from dual/triple track DVDRip from the net made by a bunch of Russian fans that explains the goofs, but if the source was the genuine tape then that's indeed ridiculous.

I'm just glad I didn't have to grow up with the "Hero Turtles."

James Eatock will have some analysis of the UK edits to the show in some of the upcoming issues of cereal:geek (apparently, in issues #13 (http://www.cerealgeek.com/issue_13.html) and #14 (http://www.cerealgeek.com/issue_14.html)).

I never watched the edited movie version just the original presentation on tv/vhs/dvd so I missed that. Why was Baxter edited out of the serial aside from one overlooked reference? Its not like the character is copyrighted and he is important to the story atleast for indirectly providing the Turtle Van and Turtle Blimp. Was it ever explained?

Personally, I always thought "A Thing About Rats" was the least essential episode to the story arc, so it was the most logical choice to cut in order for the whole thing to fit on a single VHS tape. Not a good decision, but a business one, I suppose.

Yeah, I wonder if it was only there as a nod to Mirage #2.

Yeah I remember being about nine years old and renting "The Epic Begins" from the video store:http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Begins/dp/6302267919/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1375539246&sr=8-11&keywords=the+epic+begins. I have to believe that the reason for it being chopped down was due to VHS tape length. Remember VHS tapes couldn't hold very much. Heck, remember how the movie Titanic had to be cut in half and placed on two separate tapes.
