For me, it's a tie between the 2003 and Mirage Turtles.

Hard to say, as different universes operate under different levels of realism and censorship.

I'm inclined to say the 4Kids versions, though, because the sh*t they do there is ridiculous.

As with most things, Mirage was always more subdued and realistic in this aspect. The Turtles are obviously more gifted than your average Foot Ninja, but they're still very capable of getting their asses kicked and struggle with most of their major fights. As they get older, they place less and less emphasis on fighting as well.

interesting question,,, I would say 4kids, they fought in the BATTLE NEXUS!!!! For pete's sake and Mikey was the Battle Nexus Chmap!!!

I think the Fred wolf was probably the most innovative (slap stick) when it comes to fighting,

I have read some Mirage and just dont think they are up to par with the 4kids turtles.

4kids, then Image/Mirage.

OT. They can defeat their enemies by pulling out the rugs out from under them.

Well, the OT is automatically out of the question (unless you count throwing garbage at your enemies as "good fighting") so I'm gonna have to go with 4Kids...or maybe the Mirage comics.

I'm gonna go with Nick (that intro fight in first episode! And The Gauntlet!) and TMNT 2007 (rainy rooftop brawl despite it's just Raph and Leo cause of unfair people who made that film).

Didn't the Prime(Mirage) Turtles hand the 4kids turtles their shells to them in Turtles Forever? I'd go with Mirage.

Didn't the Prime(Mirage) Turtles hand the 4kids turtles their shells to them in Turtles Forever? I'd go with Mirage.

I don't count that movie, since it clearly has scarcely any more understanding of how the Mirage turtles acted than it did the Fred Wolf turtles. Its only logic seemed to be "darker and edgier = tougher".

So I'm going to say the 4Kids Turtles were better fighters than the Mirage Turtles, but not for the reason you might think. My reasoning is they were able to fight without using their weapons to kill anyone, against numerous foes who also carried lethal weapons, meaning most often the 4Kids Turtles were just using theirs as glorified shields or to disarm enemies. That sort of combat is more visually impressive than the Fred Wolf Turtles, but it's really almost as quixotic and impractical.

As Cipher said, though, realism discrepancy does a lot to make these sorts of things hard to answer. You can, in fact, make a case that the Fred Wolf Turtles were pretty good fighters in that they had a very quick, calculating drive to use their environment to their advantage in a fight, but then again, that doesn't really work often, and they were always conveniently lucky with their environments. So the only way to be objective here is change the question to "Which incarnation fights in the way most closely resembling actually effective fighting," and yeah; then it would be the Mirage Turtles, hands down.

4kids.

Even their parkour was off the charts.

Mirage. Killing Shredder in the first freaking issue. THAT'S FIGHTNING.

I think both Mirage and the 2k3 Turtles are the best when it comes to fighting.

Thing is, their Shredder isn't some amazing robot supervillain. He's just a dude. A very skilled ninja dude, but I don't think there's the discrepancy between him and the Turtles you see in the first movie, 4Kids or the Nickelodeon show.

And that's taking him on four-against-one. Later, when Leo goes one-on-one with him, he almost gets killed before being saved by sheer luck and finally succeeding.

Meanwhile, the 4Kids Turtles, as much as they may get wrecked by their Shredder, do things like jump twenty feet in the air and non-lethally take out forty Foot Soldiers at once like some sort of video game. It's ridiculous and I'm belittling it a little, but as far as "best fighters" go, jeez, it's them by a long shot.

But these 40 foot ninjas are the basic ones. They have their butts kicked when it comes to the "improved ninjas".

The 4kids ones are the best fighters I think. Their ennemies were a lot tougher than in all the other versions, so they needed to be stronger too.

Well, to me it's too early to judge the 2012 turtles cuz we are just getting to some serious fights now. By the third season we should be able to compare the turtles.

For now I'd say 4kids versions, for example let's look at the Leo V.S Karai fight in that series compared to the Nick version, Leo did a good job in the last Karai episode in the 2012 series though but more of smarts than in actual sword fight for now. Thanks, now I feel like watching the 4kids version again

If you count the turtles in Out of the Shadows as Nick turtles then they are in the running :P They look to be really whipping butt there.

OOO I didn't even think of them...but from what I've seen in the trailers for this game, I totally have to agree with you...they've got some moves!

If Tournament Fighters were tied to Mirage thanks to the presence of Karai in the SNES/Genesis versions (no Bebop/Rocksteady in any version), Mirage for the win. Sure the Shredder was the weakest, but Battle Nexus seemed to be inspired by a Pokemon tournament (not to say it was bad, but Mirage felt more organically powerful). Ranking them down from best to worst, 4kids would be next, followed by IDW, then Nick, then the Movies, then Archie, the OT, and finally The Next Mutation (at least the OT has some creative slapstick moves along with the good first season).

I'm gonna go with Mirage. I've seen some 2k3 and I still think Mirage could give them a run for their money. The Mirage turtles have fought their share of weird things too. It's definitely close though. 2012 Turtles makes mistakes, which is why it's fun to watch, they don't always do the best so it feels more real.

In a straight-up fight and actually using weapons to inflict bodily harm, the Mirage Turtles. No contest!
